I’ve been learning so much seeing these clears. I dodged the sticky lightning by panic rolling. I didn’t even think about just walking until it falls off. Great gameplay and lesson as always 😄
This is one boss I wish I got to see the move set of more - I was just stuck to his back legs the entire fight dodging lightning and didn’t see any cool animations or anything
Honestly you can fight every dragon head on and the fights are incredible. EXCEPT THE NAMED ANCIENT DRAGONS. their moveset is incredible punishing, if not impossible to dodge without light load roll at minimum, and their stance seems infinite. Ive killed both ALOT. the regular dragons leave their heads open after each stomp, bite, wing attack, during outward breaths, and after diving and you have time to punish and the fights can feel very cinematic. The ancients, in addition to their double hits on most claw attacks, follow up very swiftly after their head is open, FASTER THAN MIDIR.
@@liamd8918 honestly bro. the camera is the second boss lol. you gotta fight it and them every time. the ancient dragon lanseeax or whatever killed me way too many time cuz the camera kept hoeing me. but lichdragon was a cakewalk when I fought him cuz the camera never really bothered me. i was surprised af tbh lmfao.
Indeed man, Fromsoft saw what they did with Midir in DS3 and said F it lets improve it for a whole game 😎 been a long time since i enjoyed fighting dragons in a game so much
@@pierocolombo2643 i think they kinda forgot the lessons from midir. Midir fixed most problems with gigantic beadt fights like camera issues and hacking at legs, while in elden ring dragons had these issues a lot
@@yoavsnake But by fixing the leg thing they kind of just made Midir only fightable with 1 playstyle, every Elden Ring dragon can be approached in way more ways than Midir.
I just got to Fortissax last night and instantly checked if you did the fight, now I wake up and see you uploaded it! This was such a cool boss to fight with my Faith incantations, rivals Midir in terms of visuals thanks to all the Red Lightning, but he's easier.
To me, Fortissax is this game’s Dragonslayer Armor. Not easy, but not too difficult (that goes out the window in a run like this though), visually impressive (although Fortissax definitely beats DSA in that regard), great music, and both are probably my favorite non-main story bosses. Another impressive fight as always!
@@巴車 You’re right, poor choice of words. When I said “non-main story” I meant more like really key to the lore of the game. When I think of a story crucial boss in DS3, I think of the Twin Princes, in ER, their analogue is probably Godfrey. Good point!
@@TheYanaro Also true! I really had the main three endings in mind when I wrote this, Ranni’s, Frenzied Flame, and the normal one. I really like the diversity in endings this game gave us :)
I was expecting to see the light saber spin, one of the most magnificent move set in Elden Ring and it is actually pretty hard to dodge, too. They should buff lichdragon’s health in my opinion, most people meet her while they are overleveled
Agreed. Especially since you need to start Ranni’s quest before you can continue Fia’s, it would make more sense to me to have to face the whole death root area at a higher level
Your kills are so satisfying to watch. Such incredible reads and timing. OH! and that sky-box is amazing looking. I've never noticed during my encounters, since I'm usually struggling with my camera.
Ongbal is the perfect guide on learning a boss. Can't imagine how many tries it must have taken to memorize these bosses down to a T and evade them perfectly. Took me like 12 tries to kill Malenia and I was all out of heals and like a fart away from death.
@@Benjobros I'm a tryhard with souls games and only twohand and or duel wield, so I'm very familiar with timing my dodges. Malenia is undoubtedly the hardest boss in this game and gave me the most trouble. Her healing mechanic just kills your morale, so you gotta get good with the dodges and parries if you're not using a great shield.
I killed this dude after quite a few tries, left me with 0 flasks and like 5% HP, I was not looking but the electricity thingy was still on my char even when after the boss died so I got hit by it and died almost the same time with the boss, we became ash simultaneously :D Awesome fight, awesome effects and art, loved it.
I wish hitting his head was more practical. You either have to be infront of him where it's much harder to dodge his swiping attacks, or you have to wait under him where you can't see his telegraphs. Also his poise is insane; I get ancient dragons having alot of poise because of their gravel scales but I have never broken their poise regardless of how many strong hits and how often I hit them.
@@medfibezk8745 I doubt he'll use the spear. In all of the "no dmg Lv1 wretch vs bosses" vids he'd use the starting wooden club to actually hit and deal dmg to the boss
i always learn something new from watching ongbal's vids. He wastes no movement in any fight lol. I like how he doesn't roll to "dodge" when he doesn't need to, to save stamina.
Fortissax is an unusual boss for me because I have never died to it. Pretty much every other boss in Elden Ring has killed me at least a few times, but Fortissax was too easy. I suppose with all the dragon enemies in the game, they are the first bosses you learn to kill with ease.
