@@drewwilson9938 I’ve heard the intro to the theme but I’m actually buying the dlc tonight and I’ll reply when I hear it for real, don’t want to spoil it.

Ended up just listening to the ost on RU-vid cuz my controllers aren’t working properly so it’s gonna be ages until I finish the dlc. Not gonna lie I prefer this theme, the actual one just seems like it’s going for a tragic theme and I get he’s a tragic character but I wanted something a bit more epic like maybe Fortisax & Gael. Felt like the game ost only got good in the last minute.

Now that I’m actually at Messmer the music fits a bit better in the actual fight but I was seriously hoping for him to be the big bad but he’s just a pawn of marika’s who will never understand the bigger picture. I think the theme fits a little more now

I agree but this theme is sinister and villainous which contradicts his tragic lore, yes he is a pillager who was sent to do Marika’s dirty work but he was betrayed and forsaken and grew bitter

@@jonsnow5245 yes, yes it is much better, there was a lack of mohg and radagon themes in this dlc in terms of melody, divine beast,romina and midra was the closest

Yes but it makes messmer out to be as psychotic and unhinged as he was in the trailer, which completely contradicts his character in the retail version

You are too kind thank you! I haven’t found Messmer in the DLC yet but I recently listened to his OST and I was very impressed at how profound it was. Like most songs in the souls series, his theme represents him as a character. His actions, his ideals, his feelings, etc. but there’s so much more to his theme in particular. The first phase paints such a tragic and sorrowful image for me, maybe representing all the suffering he caused during the war, but then that story of suffering changes when phase two hits and it becomes anger. Maybe it’s his anger towards himself, towards us, or even his mother Marika. I don’t know any of his lore but this is how the music makes me feel and that’s my favorite part about music, its ability to tell a story. While my theme is just a big scary bad guy song 😂 I hope maybe that will give you a better appreciation for the source material as it is truly so special to me.
