Without solo hosts I don't really feel like there's much of a need for the blues. It's kind of sad. I've never been summoned as a blue in ER by a host who actually needed the help.
I like to solo host without blues so its a little crazy to me that anyone would need more than just themselves to fight a single red, but I understand some newer players doing it who aren't used to PVP yet. Besides that one situation blues are so unnecessary since hosts will often just re-summon their friend.
Blues in DS1: Really cool concept. Invade the Invaders. Blues in DS3: Estus Piñatas. Very annoying to wipe a gank and then have them replaced by Blues a minute later. *BUT,* there were a good amount of occasions where a solo host who was new to the game or otherwise needed help would actually get saved by a Blade of the Darkmoon, and I still have a character solely dedicated to that, just standing around and taking up a summon slot or offering myself as estus to an invader when I got summoned to ganks. Blues in Elden Ring: Feels like an afterthought, only adds to ganks because no solo invasions plus lowered max player count. Worst part is that it could have absolutely been made like the DS1 Blues by making Yura's Bloody Finger Hunters an actual group you could join and then go after Bloody Fingers and Recusants in their own worlds.
Yura’s whole questline was dedicated to hunting down invaders just like the original blues only for hunters to just be another bland version of the sentinels that make ganks that much more frustrating. Having a covenant somehow tied to Yura that functioned just like the original sentinels would’ve been awesome. Not having covenants was a really big mistake.
Online in general feels like an afterthought. No covenants, Way of White and Blue are just permanent upgrades to buy in a shop, and some clown thought the player count needed to be smaller for the *open-world game*
We even have the Confessors already in game, they hunt down Tarnished who go against the Golden Order/Erdtree, which applies to both recusants and bloody fingers. Like such a perfect option to bring back classic blues.
There are no actual players who choose to be blues. It's Miyazaki and his ten thousand accounts personally coming to ruin an invader's day. We have to respect his wishes
i respect the hate lmao. i equip the ring just to supervise an invasion if i get called in. if there's a one on one thats possible i'll do it, but i won't help a gank or a good fight between a host and an invader. its like jury duty, you have a chance to make an encounter less toxic if you do it right. one time i got summoned as a hunter for an invasion where the host was obviously afk farming, and i just chilled with the invader and helped them try to figure out where the host was because afk farming is maidenless
Invasions are very slow now so I use the blue ring to get more PvP and yeah. Whenever I see AFK farmers I put away my weapon and drop giant bolts for invaders in case they don't have any lmao
This! I try to do this as well, with varying degrees of success. Sitting idly by has gotten me sent home by hosts before, but unless the invader is abusing something broken, I'd rather be a passerby to a cool fight than automatically join the dogpile. As surely as my heart beats invader red, I'd rather be a part of the "jury" than let every blue be as toxic as Saint describes.
Great point Saint. Why don't we have Godwyn's Gravelord covenant? Why can't we send hordes of "Those who live in Desth" to polute the normal enemy pool and make the catacombs harder to play through? Or the over world have even less safe, boring travel distances? *For the Lore!*
elden ring really feels rushed(multiplayer-wise). Covenants were cut off from the main game, data miners found cut lines from mohg about being brought into the family.
I feel like Mohg's rune is sort of a more active spin on gravelording since it essentially lets you create buffed mobs to help you out and give the host a bit of griefing in a way you are actually present to witness, but it is basically only useful if a bleed build is present and I think it would benefit from the usable runes being restockable mid-session and maybe have an easier activation.
@@GrodyPineman You can't compare the two much though? I get that you started on the principle of affecting mobs being more "active" than creating mobs you can't even see, but that's both where it starts and ends for a comparison. Gravelording sends a notoriously difficult mob into someone's level, which then triggers an active availability window for an invasion. So that's one person affecting the multiplayer for three distinct other people, by default. It's just beyond compare. Gravelording was one of most amazing things I witnessed in DS, I could not believe when I learned what had actually happened and how it worked. I hoped ER was where something like it would return *because* of how big the game is. It'd be a very interesting multiplayer element if it simply got "beacon" properties, so that cursers wouldn't just hide in the vast open world and would actually create PvP hotspots. I really hope ER makes some sort of comeback with DLC. We need this stuff, as well as a dragon transformation of some sort. The fact we fight warriors who literally turned into dragons that we can defeat and yet this is the first Souls without dragon transformations is pretty meh. (I get how the lore could be used to justify things either way.) BB came around nicely with more multiplayer dynamics in the DLC, including two transformations. I just hope ER does something. Anything.
@@kimlee6643 One of the biggest issues really is that multiplayer has nothing unique about it anymore and there’s very little incentive to engage in it on either side, despite it being such a large and game changing feature. Not having covenants really makes the multiplayer feel less interesting. DS3 had Mad Phantoms that made all invasions chaotic as Hell, the Faithfuls and Watchdogs had passive queuing no matter where you were, DS1’s Gravelords and Blues were both really, really unique, and they even had a PvE covenant that effected everyone’s favorite Sunbro’s questline. Elden Ring has three groups that very well could’ve been covenants but does nothing with them. The Recusants and Bloody Fingers act the same, and Yura has a whole questline about hunting done Invaders DS1-Blue style, only for him to die and the blues to be just a boring carryover from DS3.
@@DaPerfecto57 I deadass had this happen a few hours ago. I was running bolt of gransaxx to try and sneakily snipe some people, and i sniped the 1 summon right away. Then I was fighting the host, had him at about half hp but I was low too and then got backstabbed literally out of nowhere. I had my back turned to a cliff, had no spawn noise, no spawn notification at all. I was so fuckin confused.
"Ah, what a sad state of affairs. I commend your spirit, but alas, none shall have fun being reds. King Miyazaki has high hopes for us. That we continue to struggle. Unto eternity." -Some elden ring invader
The reason is because so many other people are in the summon queue ahead of you. There's only so many hosts using the white cipher ring at any one time and they can only have so many summons in their world. By contrast, everybody and their neighbor is wearing the blue cipher ring because, in reality, everybody loves fighting invaders. Just so long as they don't have to work too hard.
I was playing around solo with the taunters tongue, and I was having a bit of trouble with an area, so I thought, hey, why not try out summoning blues, if they're like DS3 they aren't that good, but maybe they'll distract some of the level for me. So I did, and I got invaded. INSTANTLY I got like two fucking blues. Now the invader had invaded me a number of times in this area. I quite liked him, had a lot of weapons, fun variation in his moves. We were about 50/50 at that point. Instant ganksquad. I didn't even participate, I just cleared out some enemies, these two weirdoes just ground him down with the stupidest builds. Had to apologize next time he invaded me. Shit was wack. I was expecting one kinda trash player to take a bit of aggro, not instant ganksquad, just add water. Ain't touchin that shit.
Did this happen to be in the deep root depths? I was invading the same guy over and over in the area and used a bunch of gravity themed weapons and magic. By the name of: I like to moveIt That guy was quite fun to fight, and we both had fun.
I’ve always hated blues (the fun police) in every souls game (except for ds1) but I despise them even more in elden ring because when you invade it’s pretty much always going to be outnumbered, so when a blue is there it’s even more unfair.
Blues always play so aggressive like they're leading the 4 man gank squad to victory and always get hard punished for it then hand 10 years in the back throwing whatever they can as if they galaxy brain start outplayed
Straight up though, as someone who likes playing every aspect of the game, combining co-op and PvP, being a blue is actually the best way to do that. No one normal summons without a boss. Being blue is the only way to do normal co-op without a password like in the better old days 😮💨
Blues have lost their purpose more and more with every new FromSoft game, and at this point, they're basically just a vestigial limb of PvP. They were an afterthought at best in DS3, but now they have neither online rewards beyond what you can just get by playing the base game, nor any interesting engagement in that online play. Who the hell wants to be sloppy seconds for a co-op group who can't handle ganking an invader long enough for you to get there? At least in DS3, you could play the role of rescuer like Saint said. In Elden Ring, you are ONLY there to be used, and you get nothing special for it. You're basically a self-inflicted worse phantom. P.S. If they wanted to make Blues interesting again, they could make it to where enemies cannot damage Blues, only the invader can (Blues also could not damage enemies). That would at least encourage them to hunt down the invader instead of spawning in a weird place in the level to get murked by enemies. It would also make it where the Host + Cooperators and Blues could stay out of each other's way, with one group playing through the level and the Blue(s) being there solely for PvP. This might help some Hosts who aren't very keen on PvP still play online because they know a Blue can come specifically to take care of the invader instead of being a wild card form of assistance. It wouldn't make it perfect, but it'd be better than what we have. Also, give Blues a special item for killing an invader and vice versa. Possibly have a reverse DS1 Blue situation where reds can invade someone's solo world if they killed an invader as a blue to take revenge. Keep the online alive and stuff.
Not gonna lie, I feel like blues are kind of important for how bad ER's co-op community is. If you don't have password co-op, people only summon for bosses. I used to love doing level co-op with randoms in older games! It was fun. Being blue is the only way to do that in ER because of how no one wants to summon random players except for boss help 😢
I honestly loved the idea of the blues in dks 1 where they were there to punish the sinners. in here its not even fun really. I really wish they bring back rewards for winning invasions or at least bring the grave lords back its such a cool covenant.
Ds1 concept where blueS punish invaders was definatly the coolest. Why the hell from get rid of that? Like, you can invade and the beat the shit out of poor little Timmy. But be prepared for the police squad that will show up and beat the the shit out of you.
I let myself be summoned as a blue on purpose so I can just not help the host or I'll throw myself off a cliff to give the invaders flasks, or lure a lobster over. The options are limitless when you are summoned as a blue that hates blues.
I only enjoyed the mound makers in DS3 because I could accomplish my goal just by killing a phantom or two instead of needing to kill all the phantoms and the host. I found more area-defense guys (watchdogs and Aldriches) that turned on the invader than purples. Only now I don't need the purple covenant because there's enough braindead hosts who skimp on Vigor and get killed instantly.
I don't enjoy MM for the same exact reason. I'm here to kill the host no matter what, not the phantoms. Getting sent home after you managed to get them alone is the worst.
Killing a phantom or two is meaningless. In Dark Souls 3, hosts will simply password summon the same two or three people. Killing those phantoms doesn't make the host lose an ember. It doesn't make the enemies respawn in his world. It doesn't hinder him in any real way at all. It just provokes him to return to the bonfire to resummon.
I liked the idea behind Mound Makers, but never the execution. If I’m invading as one and have killed 3 phantoms, I’m now absolutely thirsty for the host. Being sent home right then was the worst anticlimax. And if I’m a host and get a Mound Maker, they just always ended up like these weird half-invader players. They weren’t skilled enough to be fun to play against like an invader, they weren’t able to attack or be hurt by mobs so they couldn’t truly be the “are they friend or foe” role, and if I did get a 2nd invader and get excited about the idea of a serious fight they would almost always just ruin it by turning that into an absolutely stupid gank. It just always felt like taking the worst and most annoying parts of Pontiff’s (like annoying invaders that just gesture and cheers the gank for 15 minutes rather than playing or at least making room for someone who will put up a real fight) and inserting it into the rest of the game.
@@cadunkus and what does that covenant reward net you? Not much. I can’t even remember the two rewards for moundmakers. I remember rosaria’s fingers get the obscuring ring, which is extremely useful as an invader, and that the watchdogs of farron get the curved wolf great sword which is a solid weapon with extra stamina regen.
I don't hate blues just because the average blue is a monkey and not really a huge threat. I do hate the braindead reds that attack co-invaders. Nothing is worse than killing two gold phantoms, a couple blues, and chasing down a flask less host only for another red to show up and kill you because you were the closest thing to him. Also you're tripping about Mound Makers. Best covenant. Praise Hodrick!
Agreed, I hate traitor reds, though I kill useless reds who dont help, or ones who keep hitting me, and same with if they attack me. Still, blues suck.
Blues are horrible because it doesn't matter how braindead they are when they're using meta weapons and 3v1'ing. The ER experience feels all the worse when you're fighting a gank and then some douchebag with RoB and BHS comes in and teabags/points down like you're the one being toxic.
If you’re jumping in on an obvious fight club (1v1 while the other co-oper is sitting aside) by interrupting the duel and then whine about being killed by the red who you just interfered with, you are part of the problem. Like, you could’ve gone for the guy that was sitting down, but you went out of your way to interfere. If you don’t do that, then you’re fine.
The indictment system was so good for encouraging good feelings about invasions. When I first played, I never invaded and always lost when I got invaded. But the "Indict?" prompt always made me feel like "well, I'll get my revenge on them." I didn't even know it opened them up to Darkmoon invaders, I just assumed it did something that they wouldn't benefit from, and that was enough to be make me feel better about losing. Add to that, if I liked someone who invaded me, I didn't have to indict them. Once I learned I was sending other people after people I didn't like, it was great. It made PvP even less frustrating and more fun. Shit like that, feeling good about pvp, combined with videos from folks like you finally got me over the hurdle to start doing invasions, and I'm so glad the games were set up that way. And I started as a blue in DS1 because I thought they were so cool and it was such a neat idea. It was just a really, really good system that was pretty much pure benefits to everyone involved.
Plus, like you mentioned, when I got my ass saved by a blue I was always like "what an absolute badass." I loved loved loved blues for that kind of thing.
Elden Ring is my first From game so I didn't exactly understand well how the online dynamic worked, so I used to have both white and blue cipher rings on constantly My thought was, invaders are there to interrupt other people's game, so blues interrupt their game in a way. i didn't really like joining the gank and preferred to face the invader alone before hosts/phantoms, like a miniboss, because I wasn't that skilled to begin with Learning more about pvp, I realized how unbalanced it can actually be even without blues involved, and I kept getting severed when I didn't participate in the gank I prefer gold summoning pools now lol
@@anitaremenarova6662 I had a similar mindset during the first week or so after ER's release, minus the "toxic" part. But now that every new player is running a weapon some RU-vid video or a Reddit post told them to use, and has a phantom at least twice their level more often than not, i ask myself whether or not they *really* need more help.
@@dumbcter Overleveled phantoms are only an issue at very low rune levels, their health gets downscaled so at meta level they get killed really easily unless they spell spam with their infinite FP. Besides, none of this changes the fact they still get stomped by tryhard invaders since they are PvE players. If I get summoned for an afk farmer or a dedicated gank then I usually do nothing or try to help the invader.
@@anitaremenarova6662 I invaded a gank at 90 and one of the overleveled phantoms did half of my 1450 HP with one straight sword jumping attack. But i guess 90 is also a "very low level", sure. And i'd rather not resort to spamming pebble, moonriver ashes, or whatever other funny options are out there, just to match the stupid amounts of damage they're doing on normal attacks, even if the possibility is out there. I don't think it's going to be enjoyable for anyone involved.
it's funny how the tables have turn, back in the day, the invaders were concidered as the worst scumbag ever made, but now with all the freedom that miyasaki have gave to the host, even the "good ones" have become the worst thing ever made. ik, we're sopposed to be that one "npc" that is inteligent and have to make him suffer, but what happens when he keeps summoning, sometimes he doesn't have to even fight back...
I really don't understand the appeal of being a blue in this game. Why would I want to show up to a 2v1 and help out the side WITH the advantage? It really seems like its just people who want to PvP but are too scared of duels or invasions.
makes me miss mad spirits. I'd invade as a mad and go after another invader if they were being terrible or the host. just depended on the vibe. I miss dynamic pvp encounters.
@@xenosayain1506 i sort of do this as a blue anyway, if the host is a gank squad ill do whatever i can to trip them up, walk over and chill with the invader while he heals up, body block part of the gank in a doorway and let the invader giant hunt through both me and the host etc. fuck them ganks i have no honor to lose. that and i sincerely just hate scrubs so fucking much i want them all to uninstall eventually.
I used to blue a lot in DS3 as a true Darkmoon. Waited for sales when all the twinks would be out, then hunted the scum using DSA/dark hand on new hosts. Absolutely terrible build, 30 faith at SL21 to use DMB, but you don't need a good build to kill players that need to twink lol.
Thank you saint! 😄I’ve been a blue like 4 times now in elden ring and just thought I was just getting unlucky with always being by those gankers. I was to lazy to put down a summon sign so I just got the blue ring thing and did that. I now see this was a destructive path and I will stop my path as a blue. I know a lot of blues out there are struggling so let’s all send them some love ❤️ and some wisdom so they can get out of this toxic relationship!
Yeah it does seem to be lacking on the invasion side, two different groups who both give you a finger to invade as a red. At least with bloodborne, you only had one type of invasion, but you could invade ANYONE. For any consolation, I tried to assist as a blue just to test it out and it takes SSOOOOO long to get summoned, they're not only working for free but no one even wants them.
i like the "get summoned to help someone randomly" mechanic but i also like the blue invaders and think it shouldve definitely been a thing in elden ring
haha great vid. Jokes aside, I really dislike blues in ER. The worst thing is that they think they're doing something "noble" by helping hosts fight off invaders. In reality, they are all being a blue knowing that they are joining a world where the invader is already outnumbered. Their only purpose is to serve as random auto-reinforcements for gankers to throw at the invader. They are there to turn a 2v1 back into a 3v1. The days of blues helping out the scared lone host are over. At least gankers are usually playing together to have "fun" with their friends, or whatever. Blues are there purely just for the ganking smh. You do you, but I got no respect for 'em lol
Hopefully they'll one day bring back dual use blue's. I like helping people and all, but that does get in the way of why I fell in love with blue's back in ds1/2. Blue invasions usually meant that the target participated in PvP and had a decent grasp on it, which led to me having to set a higher bar for myself. Now it's little more than a pleasant distraction (with what feels like 90% chance to be connection errors) to break the monotony of constant Morgott fights.
As an avid forest hunter I wish there was a forest hunter place in ER. It was my favorite pvp zone in ds1. Fighting ganks and running through a dark foreboding forest with ruins was just huge fun imo. I felt like a member of a bandit clan, waylaying intruders and getting rewarded in materials, occasional rubbish, and cold hard cash.
Who else was a forest hunter and when a gank got a little too hot, you would jump the gorge down to the mushrooms? Mostly ended in death, but when you made it you felt like a badass.
@@cyborge2013 I know that jump you're talking about. I saw Oroboro do it back in 2013 and it has been my last resort in invasions ever since. I had that jump memorized to the point I nailed it every time.
Most blues have the mindset that they're going to gank when in reality they're the ER police. They should be prepared to fight solo and offer a more fair fight than a couple of PvE players that are completely clueless.
the bit about hosts and their phantoms not treating blues like they're actually part of the group is so true. I always see them like fully abandon blues to die to the invader while they go keep playing the level
Yeah, I have this feeling blues are now meant to serve as this strange form of easier pvp. I mean for people that are specifically looking to fight players, not bosses, but found diving into invasions too hard. I agree that it doesn't really work when the host is only interested in their phantoms. Blues have ended up as this awkward middle child that is neglected and just wants attention.
In DS3 I once helped a new, clearly PvE player who was invaded and who didn't realize his voicechat was on. When I killed the red with a barker bomb bait, I heard an "Oooh, NICE! ...nice." from the host, and felt like a damn hero. Now, I can either suck them off for free, or host myself. It's just not the same, man...
If there's one thing I despise more than a blue in DS3, it's people who send blues home. Darkmoon/Blue Sentinels in DS3 may be the fun police, but if the stars align and they somehow get summoned, by fucking Gwyn they should be allowed the chance for an ear. At least in that game, it made sense to let blues play. Elden Ring blues, however, make me nothing but angry. Hosts sending them home is still bad, as it's part of the (awful) PVP experience, but there's no real reason to BE a blue. Invaders are likely armed to the teeth, so you're dead if you're remotely honest, but you feel like a chump if you use powerful weapons against an honest invader. It's a lose-lose situation in ER, and I stopped being a blue pretty quickly after learning these lessons.
What a glorious invasion in the background while Saint rants. I've just discovered this guy and the level of his skill and creativity are mind-blowing. Instant sub. Inspiring.
From has a history of half baking their covenants, I'm not sure they've ever really thought them through player-interaction wise. I think about the only ones that have worked really well are the ones that are area-based guardian types, aka das1 park rangers or das2 bell boys. Mound Makers could have been sus imposter other covenant mimics, instead they existed pretty much for the novelty of day 1 release when everything was new and no one knew what they did. After that they were pointless and their covenant items were awful which made them even more pointless. Heck them being the one invader who could enter boss fogs would have been great.
PvP is often mistakenly called an "afterthought" in Souls, but holy shit man, ER blues don't even have lore. They couldn't even tie it to Yura like bloodies are tied to Varré/Mohg, and the same for recusants. I don't know, it just stinks of absolute low effort shit to me. "Hunters" my ass, that title belongs in BB anyway. One thing though: they do keep the fights going in Liurnia for about an hour until one experiences acute boredom from cheap wins and is tired of telling the scantily clad host "you're beautiful". I wanna share one episode btw: I invaded in Liurnia at rl40 to meet a host with Marika's hammer. Fight gets going and I'm already suspicious. The blues quickly come in, the obligatory lobster spacing ensues as I manage the moronic blues. Before I can even get to the crustaceans, the host starts sending waves of gold because they also have the relic sword, I mean, of course. So the lobsters can't do much because the blues ignore them as they are bathed in the cheesiest, dumbest travelling aoe in the game. But worry not! The host, now back into proper gank mode, changes into duals Vyke's (but of course!) and initiates the chase. One blue was unrelenting the whole time, stopping me from healing from a previous wave of gold which (of course) went for 80% of my HP (+800dmg). The guy manages to land that single hit as I get stuck on a rock or something. I die, and then the guy... celebrates with jump for joy or whatever. The absolute smooth brain participated in peak ganking and then counts it as a win. It really is an ER phenomenon. Makes DS3 blues look like heroes. I dunno. Just wanted to share that, kinda wish I had footage. (Host got blocked after the second invasion, idgaf.) I still wanna add that during LegatusLex's charity taunter's run today, at Leyndell, a smooth brain with dual Vyke's was also taunting and then hiding, waiting for blues to gank. One blue killed me, and as the host came over from behind a ledge to bow to the guy, the blue severed out. Like, it makes me laugh just replaying it in my mind.
As a low level invader I found an afk host in the first step. I probably spent 40 minutes prolonging the inevitable until I discovered his hiding place on an unreachable pillar. I positioned myself and shot at hi with my level one crossbow. I didn't have enough arrows to kill him, but I just kept staggering him with headshots until he fell off the cliff. It felt like justice
It's kind of strange that the biggest world in these games has the most simplified Online system too. I'd love it if the Blues were invaders again. I mean...the game has a soft sin system already with all that Moon Dew stuff. I've never used one. Why not let Blues invade shameless solo players?
I must admit, I just leave the blue thing on while playing the game, making my invasion build and whatnot, because it's an easy way to get a free rune arc every like, hour. I'll just be doin my thing, moseying around collecting whatever the hell my weird build needs, and then all of a sudden I'm in someone else's world and usually either just instantly get sent home "victorious" or because the host died. I don't work for free, I get free shit for no work. Then I just go back to playin' my game, which is what I wanted to do in the first place, but one rune arc richer.
Speaking of covenants. I wanted them to bring them back but make the items you, like tongues, to be meaningful like a special currency you spend at the covenant shop. Like these guys get a potion that straight up makes you invisible until you swing or something. But getting rid of them was also a good call because I feel like people thought it was some strange barrier to get into pvp.
I can't comprehend the mind of a blue when the host spends 7+ minutes running around rot swamps in full bullgoat while luring in invaders to lead you on a wild goose chase until, you either leave or you get ganked by blues and will only engage you once both hunters start engaging you. Helping a host like that is so pathetic.
I love mound makers, just for the roleplay potential. I want all invaders and summons to act like Mound Makers, because I'm a twisted cyclepath and I want everyone to actually be scared and considerate and try to space each other
If it were up to me, i would make two adjustments to DS3 Moundmakers: First, make it so that "friendly" purple phantoms don't require an ember to be summoned (and are able to go through boss fog), so that there is at least some incentive to summon one over a white or yellow. And second, make it so that purple invaders have a seed active on them at all times but don't take up an invader slot, allowing a red to join. Making it a sort of forced co-op with a chance of betrayal.
Blues do serve a purpose, flask refil for reds. Dead ass, I see a host with phantoms when I get called in as a blue Berry I just leave. Only time I want to do work as a blue is for those who open themselves up to solo invading, least then there is a chance they might get outnumbered. Though I've found a way to make joining as a blue on ganks fun. I just use the agro charm and run the mobs into the gank
I want all Reds to name themself 'Coca-Cola' and all Blues to 'Pepsi' and just point down each other without fighting and leave the world after that. Join the fleshmob now. Do it.
I once had TWO blues show up to this goofball “dueling” invaders. Somehow the most egregious person I’ve ever invaded (if something irritates you to see people use, this guy used all of it, did every frowned upon action possible) The blues looked at him, looked at me, and then when they assumed I’d run out of flasks they yelled HEY and killed themselves, and I was able to win it. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that.
your humor is 10/10 saint. I also usually play as host with taunters tongue and have blues come in in liurnia but I don't summon any oranges cuz usually it can result in 2v2. Please dont hate me, I just like 2v2. I also usually do this when I'm struggling to find an invasion, I also like to think I'm enabling pvp for invaders
I made a Sephiroth build using about 25 nagi katanas and different ashes of war. I have one melania katana to swap to that weapon art. Its fun if u like to swap, a little decieving, but its pretty honest as the armor is crap, no helmet, but it’s fun. I suggest people try it out, or try one weapon duplicated with a lot of different ashes to swap to. I keep a caestus off hand to hardswap to when im not using the ashes and get my parry opportunities. Its a fun cosplay for duels.
@@hereticalhermit8148 yea because if your 1 handing a weapon, there is no change in swaps from the same exact weapon, unsheath, sword dance, piercing fang, spinning slash, raptors, flame of the red, thunderbolt, double slash all give an insane amount of movesets to just 1 weapon without any notice.
Blues are what changed my play style. I've been a red since early souls.... and now it doesn't feel even remotely the same. So I've begun using the taunters tongue to bring invaders to me instead. Which works well since I can now choose my fight locations and environments, there's no boss runners, and most people I come across give me a fun and respectful pvp experience.
the only reason I was often a Blue in Dark Souls 3 was to grind out concords for the coveted Darkmoon Blade. However in Elden Ring there is no reward for being a Blue, so they are just psychopaths tbh
As much as 3 man Ganks who use all the current broken cancerous tools in ER enrages me, nothing makes my blood boil more than bootlicking cucked Reds who help the host kill you. I can kind of understand blues, especially if they were inspired to play as a blue because of the cool Yura encounter when you get invaded by Nerijus, but I don’t find them nearly as annoying as the crouch spamming host/co-op gankers and brain dead co-invaders. I get flash backs to Aldrich Faithful from DS3, who were either consistently dogshit at being mindful of other types of invaders and hitting them with their attacks, or just outright killing other invaders, only to be immediately gang banged by the host and their phantoms.
what i like in Dark Souls 1 (Remastered) is you had to Reverse Hollow at the bonfire, none of this embering or furcalling finger remedying right before the fog-gate
I blue and like to think about it like a wandering ronin looking for someone to test his blade, I don’t help b/c I want the praise, I do it b/c invaders are the most dangerous opponent to test my skills.
Making it so activating runes doesn't open you to invasions (or allow you to summon) was such a dumb idea. They have what is essentially using an ember from dark souls 3, and it has nothing to do with multiplayer. So fucking stupid.
I just straight up want activity. I want to invade, I want to be invaded, I want to help people who are invaded. It's astonishing to me that in a game where millions are playing that it could be so difficult to match with anyone. I do agree though that when I have been a blue it's usually pretty dumb. It's always one of these things.. 1. I show up super far away and the host dies while I am running to them. 2. I show up super far away and the invader dies while I am running to them. 3. I am ganking some poor invader. And yeah, that's about it. I still do it though just cuz I prefer pvp to pve.
Well, my first answer is the same invaders give to coopers who get mad about invaders: "It's a mechanic, y u mad?" Sadly I don't have much time to play these days, so I haven't really gotten into the ER PvP. I didn't have time for my first pt before late fall 2022, and the game is Big, so I've only done solo stuff. But in DS3, I did basically everything. Invading, sunbro'ing, darkmooning. The way I see it, they're all part of the DS ecosystem. I had a similar approach to yours when it comes to invading. I'm not looking to grief with the most broken shit, I come in with "thematic" and cosplay builds, all sorts of nonsense, and try to do my best while (usually) outnumbered. I came to fight teams, killing some solo noob wasn't all that exiting to me. So here's how I darkmooned: I'd just throw it on while making a build. If I got summoned, I'd consider the situation. If it was obvious gankers, I'd just leave, and continue my build. If it was a coop gang, I'd consider the situation. If it was a solo host, I'd try to communicate that I was going to fight the invader solo, so if the host moved in while I was fighting, I'd pull back, until they got the point, or got got. So I do agree there's not much point to blues of you can't be invaded solo in ER. I'll tell you the "bluest" thing I ever did though, cause I think it's funny. For return to lordran one year, don't remember which, but before remastered dropped, I made a 125 kumomom and stood the whole day in undead parish pushing the finger, 'cause we all know how DS community roll. Funny how you can invade infinitely upwards in DS1 right? Just shitstomping an endless stream of griefer twinks.
through most of my first run and ng+ I had the blue ring activated. got summoned maybe 3 times total and by the time I made it to the fight the host was either dead or ganking shamelessly. so depressing I used to love invading as a blue
