aww, Actually even you have "perfect pitch" does not mean that person can play amazing music.. just can hear all pitches correctly. How about this, you don't want to or you want (yes you can!!)
It’s Giveaway time! Would you like to win a black squier bullet telecaster that you saw on my RU-vid video. How to win this? Go to @tomojustfunky on Instagram. Nothing wrong with that guitar that a few screwdrivers, a soldering iron and some new strings couldn't fix. Beginners should not only learn how to play but also learn to repair and maintain their guitars.
I have a question on this point. I have a cheap starter Selder stratocaster I bought used. Of course I want to buy a better guitar but I think it’s going to be at least a year before that happens. All in all this guitar is pretty good, I like it, but it could sound way better with an upgrade in pickups. I can get just pickups for about $60-Fender Tex-Mex and I’m fairly confident I can install them myself, or I can get a pre-loaded pick guard from Fender with the same pickups for about $150, which of course I can install easily. Will it make a difference changing all the electronics versus just the pickups? And, is it worth upgrading my $30 thrift shop guitar purchase beyond the setup or should I just live with it as is until I get the next guitar?
@@JohnOhkumaThiel just my two cents. go for the pick guard. its worth all the hassle of changing all the gear. But if you have time and expertise to do it then why not just buy the $60 tex mex
@@JohnOhkumaThiel Be careful to find out first if the screw holes on the Fender pick guard match the Selder Strat. If not, you will have to drill new holes to align it properly. Also, sometimes the knock off Strats don't have the cavities for the electronics routed out properly and the loaded pick guard won't fit into the guitar. If that is the case, then you will have to find a way to open up those areas where things are not wide enough. Maybe a file or a friend with a drill and attachment that will rout out the opening. These are all good learning experiences and will build your confidence in maintaining and repairing your own guitar.

Tomo can make a tomato can sound great!!! I have this same guitar in seafoam green!!! Great guitar!!! It was for my daughter but she doesn't play it much!
It's insane how much more important is to be able to play, instead of the price tag on the guitar. A pro can make a 100$ guitar sound like a 1000$ one :D

I believe it’s a good deal, good value. Improvements can be made but it’s not expensive improvements. I asked an old friend; what kind of guitar is a good guitar? He says; “ one that stays tuned”. Nobody has to spend crazy money anymore. Thank you sir.
“My amp gets a little noisy, so if I hit hard it’s calm” it’s funny a man that’s been playing the instrument for 40 so years is still just having fun with it. Love to see it!

@@TomoFujitaMusic Reminds me of our old tube TVs. If the picture started rolling we'd go over and give it a good smash on the top and that would fix it. If the antenna broke off, we'd hang a tin foil pie pan from it and with enough fiddling the picture would be acceptable. Or a coat hanger stuck in the end and twisted just right. Ah, the good old days! ;)
Ancient Chinese Secret. How do you think honorable master Tomo Fujita know....? Master is a badass duh. Them Chinese no match for Japanese know-how Godzilla vs TOFU 🍣🍲🥘 Tomofugita 🦎 and Godzuki 🐢
Tomo's playing shows that nearly any guitar can be a good guitar in the hands of a master. It's not the instrument. It's the player. Yes, there was a problem with the switch (I would consider that unacceptable for a new instrument), but for the price and how simple it would be to get working I think it was a pretty good deal for how nice it sounded.

Doesnt mater how cheap the guitar would be. You play it in the most expensive way. You are one of the most expensive guitar player in the universe. Love and respect from India
Tomo! I'm proud to say I've owned the blue version of this guitar for over a year and a half now and I love it. My pickup selector switch works fine, so I was really sad to see yours didn't ship with a fully functioning one. Really glad you gave this guitar the attention it needed!
So nice to hear that! Actually first I wanted to have that blue one...then next day I could not find it so I bought the black one. Thanks so much! Please check my FREE guitar advice! tomojustfunky.com/tomo-fujita-guitar-practice-advice/
I'm an older black guy from the Mississippi Delta. It's crazy how I've met a number of Japanese guys over the years (Hiro of Soundgarden from Chicago was one of my best friends ever). Tomo can really get down with blues music sounds, and with accuracy. I believe there's something about Japanese music and the pentatonic scales that lends itself to the blues in a natural way. Of course, for me, having grown up with all kinds of sounds in the Delta as a kid of meager means, I can really appreciate Tomo's work. Still, mostly, I appreciate Tomo's generosity of spirit, wisdom, mingled with that which is Japanese too, I suspect. Be safe Tomo and stick around a while. Peace and Harmony.

I’ve had my Squier Bullet Tele for 2 years, my first and only guitar, and I’ve played multiple professional jazz gigs with it, it really is an amazing guitar(especially with new pickups). The fretboard is actually smoother than more expensive teles and is just on another level of comfortability that is unmatched, truly an underrated piece of equipment.
Since there is so much variation in quality of cheap guitars I'd recommend buying from the store instead of online. If you play 5 of the same model at Guitar Center you'll find one that plays better than the others, and one with a defect!
Very true! I have a fantastic sounding Epiphone Broadway (the cheap version, not the Elitist). Picked it up at Guitar Center years ago, this one sounded miles better than the rest of the bunch. After bridge and nut replacement, it only got better.
Hi Tomo. I am a cellist studying at NEC in Boston. Since I’ve had so much time at home I’ve been brushing up on my guitar skills with the same squier telecaster. Love your videos!

Bought this guitar and amp after watching this demo.I bought it second hand with the amp for £60 and WOW.Underated is an understatement. It's a keeper for sure. Thank you sir for a great demo.
I have a Bullet Strat that I paid $150 as a gift to my daughter. I feel guilty that I like playing it more than my (quite a bit more) expensive Gibsons, lately.
One of the nicest guitars I ever played was a Squier Bullet Strat in the guitar shop. It was just an exceptionally good specimen of a cheap guitar and I should've followed my heart and bought it on the spot.

I have the same guitar in surf green and I love it! Not just a great guitar “for the money,” it’s actually a great guitar! To me, it is exactly what a Tele was meant to be, no frills, gets the job done, not too precious, just a good solid guitar, and it feels great up and down the neck!
Great to hear that! Yes, this Telecaster is pretty good! Good neck feel! Overall tone a bit darkside... maybe Tone capacitor? Please check my FREE guitar advice! tomojustfunky.com/tomo-fujita-guitar-practice-advice/

i have the sameish tele i have the affinity version with the maple fretboard, mine is great and the shop i bought it set it up wonderfull. for only 200 euros in here europe. I was amazed by how good this guitar is for the price. Its better if you go to a store and buy it there so you dont have a unlucky switch issue.

I just picked up this guitar, overall very good but same switch issue. I installed a new switch, polished the frets and treated the fingerboard with Dunlop oil. Now the guitar is great for the money. If you can work on guitars, these are great values. New switch was $9
I tested the limited edition bullet telecaster in sparkle red. The tone is spectacular for an affordable tele. Two thumbs up for this one. Sounds better than some high end ones i played. Yes needs a little filing n setup. Better strings. Try it through a tube amp. It smokes then.
Hello friend. When adding contact cleaner always turn pots and switches very slowly. That'll clean them best. Fast spinning or switching doesn't work as well. Thanks for your time.

Just to clarify - the reason manufactures at this price point use ceramic pickups is because they can achieve a thicker sound and use less copper windings and thus keep the cost low. So the neck pickup will be a little muddy but they will accept distortion giving a sound closer to a humbucker than a single coil. Made in Mexico Fenders often use ceramic pickups and many prefer the warmer output. So there it is ....
Long time player here and I just bought one for kicks. I have a couple Strats but always wanted a Tele. Got mine on sale at Musicians Friend for $129! Ordered Original Vintage Tele Pickups and an upgraded 4 Way Control Plate which should be here soon which will take it to another level. I think it's a great deal for the money as it comes out of the box. Love your channel my friend, thank you for it!

Just bought the Squire Bullet Strat and have the same problem. But fixed the fret problem by polishing the fretboard with some lemon oil. Works wonder! Bummer about the bridge pu. $158 is still good. I recently bought my first Squier, a Jazzmaster Deluxe for $350 per a "Lemmo Demo" of all things. The neck quality is phenomenal: rolled edges, zero fret sprout, frets leveled and polished, dark rosewood board and a slick, satin neck finish. Besides a few things, it is honestly up there with MIA. Anyways, thanks for what you do and how you inspire. Stay healthy!!
Back in the `70`s we had a couple high school rock bands. The best lead guitarist could play Led Zep just like the record. He always used the cheapest guitars and sounded great.

Thanks for this video Tomo! I have this same guitar in butterscotch blackguard with a maple neck. It's the FSR Bullet Tele and I got it on sale for $149 shipped! My pickups and switch work perfectly. The only thing I had to do was sand down the fret ends. It plays beautifully and I agree that the neck feels great. So glad you did an affordable guitar video. We all can't afford the fancy stuff. Especially during these trying times having a budget friendly guitar for practice and most of all the pure enjoyment of playing can't be beat.

Hey Tomo, I have a strat and I’ve been playing for a few years now. Unfortunately I don’t have a good amp as I don’t have the greatest amount of money. I have taught myself all the scales and covered most songs at the age of 15, but my real question is are there any amps that you recommend that aren’t extremely expensive, as mine make this annoying cracking sound. Thanks

Living here in Europe (UK) Harley Benton are really popular. I have the TE30, which cost less than $100 and is a very nice guitar. No problems at all. They make some fantastic instruments for beginners and there are many experience players gigging them, also. Stay safe Tomo.
Thank you - such a great, fun review - very informative, and I love your playing and demo of this guitar. I bought this guitar (Lake Placid Blue) in 2021. Very playable right out of the box. Pickups are good, not great. Needed a few fret end smoothed/filed and a basic setup. I've played it a lot, and really enjoy the look and feel of it. I have since replaced the plastic nut with a Fender brand bone nut, Fender locking tuners and a set of Hot Seymour Duncan Tele pickups. Still, the total cost for this guitar, (which now plays, feels, looks and sounds GREAT) even with all those upgrades - was a very reasonable $424.00 I think that it's now as good as, or better than the other two much more expensive Telecasters that I have, and I still play this guitar a LOT. Great guitar for beginners and for modders, IMHO!

Nice guitar! Ok, now change, the selector, the pots, the nut, the bridge, the pickups, the frets, the strings, buy a case, refinish it, and make a good setup! Then make another video! 🥰 If you buy cheap equipment (like babicz or Wilkinson..) you can do it on budget also
It's a good cheap guitar! I highly recommend not to change anything but new stings!! Not worth it! Save that money to buy next level of guitar!! No matter what you change, like this guitar wont change that much! Maybe change how you feel? Thanks so much!!

I own 13 guitars, and I just bought one of these, surf green, $129 on sale. I love this guitar! I agree 100% with promoting this as a good guitar. May need to polish the fret ends, but anyone can do it. Takes about 5 minutes, and you won't hurt the neck, because it's unfinished. Good, honest video! The tops of my frets smoothed out after playing it for awhile.?
