Thanks for this informative presentation. I did want to mention that some modern 240v single phase kilns have 4-prong plugs, with the 4th prong being a dedicated ground. As you point out, the kiln will have a plate on it giving you the voltage, phase, amperage, firing temperature, etc.

Very informative . I'd ask for one correction though: A zero on an ohm meter does not indicate an open cct rather a dead short... which is what you want on a fuse or continuous wire. All the ohm meters I have used, flash either a single digit "1" or "OL" for discontinuity. Having said that, I wouldn't expect anyone to start using a meter with just this video to go on. Love to encourage another video with close ups. My eyes are getting old. Cheers.

Always check the breaker . Our kiln kicked the breaker at 350 degrees- the 70 amp breaker wore out and was replaced

Thanks for the video. I have a Paragon Model A82B. It has a four prong plug, but the tag on the side says Phase: 1. I have a 220 dryer outlet that only has three prongs. What do I need to do to hook it up? Thanks.

Good info, but pretty sure it is not the wisest idea to have a novice messing with 240VAC.

My Grand Aunt had a ceramic business and had 3 kilns.

I have a sitter kiln that uses the old Skutt 104 knob switch, can I replace it the infinity switch? I need 2 and they are double the price as the infinity.

Somebody knows where I can buy a diagram from this kiln?. I have one without termocuple,,thermostate,timer, etc.

Its been said but that was a great video, thanks. My question is that I have a kiln sitter with what looks like light switches. There are new elements in the kiln but it doesn't seem to get to the correct temp quickly. Could the switch like that go bad or is it more likely bad wires etc. I know it was overfired a while back which is what led to the new elements.
