Living thing, turn to stone, sweet talking woman, and all over the world. Have fun! edit: studio or audio versions...please. Electric Light Orchestra or E..L..O. By the way😉😎
LOL No caller ID or answering machines! We literally had to run to answer...and we did! We could never miss a call. I had neighbors on 'party lines' and it was odd to hear them say, "it's not my ring', when their phone would ring.
TiaLori .........Lol....it’s over..he doesn’t want to let go....but she’s moved on......she never picking up again....I can relate hahaha....nice vocals nice song....ELO legendary......
I was barely 18, getting over my first love. We didn't have cell phones back then, I lived in a barracks and the only way to make a call was to go down the hall to the pay phone. And hope the person you were calling was at home. Reaching him was hit or miss, and gradually it was always "miss". I love this song but its always been bittersweet.
I grew up listening to them on AM radio. I never fully appreciated them until the mid 80's when I heard them through headphones. Outstanding band, just wonderful.
I don’t know how old you are but it is so cool to have you react to music that I listened to 40 years ago. Your appreciation for the music is very touching. Plus your expressions crack me up !!!!!!!!!!! Please keep playing music!!! PS the band is E L O not eeeeeeloooooo 🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Thank you!
You hit it right on the head. Some people don't know how it was with no answering machines, not texting, no voice mail. Been there, it's soooo heartbreaking when she doesn't answer. And love ELO, had all their albums.
And something far worse, after ringing, and ringing, it is answered, and there you were ready with your rehearsed 'speech' and its her mom/dad answering saying she isn't home,,,
E.L.O are one of the best bands ever. Their back catalogue is simply stunning. Jeff Lynne who is lead vocal and who wrote practically all their songs is a genius. So much to try out. Try "Last Train to London" in addition to everyone else's suggestions.
India, what I HELLA appreciate about you, is that you totally get the vibe and over all jest of this song. Back in the day, long distance calls were only connected by operators (long distant operator) even though it was a phone company scam, because it costed them no more to place long distant calls than local city and state calls, but they convinced the nation that it was more costly. Point being, he was talking mainly in an imaginary conversation with the lover who never picked up the TELEPHONE LINE , and also to the long distant operator, who he hoped would "let it ring a little longer, longer, longer, as he just sat tight , through the shadows of the night, (willing to) let it ring forever more". Jeff Lynne, often considered the 'fifth BEATLE' because he wrote and sounded so much like them and Lynne also worked with George Harrison (of the Beatles) producing high quality music. He and George Harrison and several others including Tom Petty and Bob Dylan formed a mega group called The Travelling Wilburys. Jeff Lynne was the soul and center and musical genius behind Electric Light Orchestra. The Fifth BEATLE if there ever was one. My opinion of course. ELO has several excellent albums, by the way. All worthy of a listen.
Keep in mind this was in days before voicemail, missed call alerts, etc. Unless someone had an answering machine connected to their phone you had no way of letting someone know you called if they didn't answer.
With the greatest respect to the Beatles (second greatest band in history), I find that statement a little condescending seeing as E.L.O. were far superior in many ways. For starters, the Beatles only existed for about eight years whilst E.L.O. were together for at least twice as long. Also, the Beatles evolved from a guitar band in their early years to the genius work of Sergeant Pepper whereas E.L.O. hit the ground running with massive orchestral arrangements as early as their first album. Paradoxically, E.L.O. DEvolved into a pure pop band by the time they got to their later stuff such as Balance of Power (1986). So while a public endorsement from John Lennon is quite an honour, it doesn’t really do service to Jeff, Bev, Richard et al.
Furthermore, Jeff’s post-E.L.O. work puts him in the pantheon of rock gods, having produced masterpieces for Tom Petty, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh, Roy Orbison etc. And he still commands the worldwide respect of everyone in the industry. Jeff has even revived E.L.O. as a touring band with a line-up of excellent session musicians so he’s going strong after more than half a century.
@@kenosull i respect your opinion, i guess ELO must b at the very top of your list, but even tho Beatles are not in the top 10 list of fav bands, i MUST admit that they have influenced more artists than any other group in the history of modern music. It doesn't matter how many years they were active how many records they recorded, they along with Little Richards and The Kraftwerk are responsible for what music sounds like today, or at least how it used to sound when it was played by real musicians. MHO it wont change and i wont argue about it
Please don’t misunderstand me. I’m a HUGE fan of the Beatles. Their music transcends the ages and in 200 years, they will be regarded in the same light as Beethoven and Mozart. I’m just forever annoyed by the condescending notion that John Lennon (may he rest in peace) was effectively patting Jeff Lynne on the head. 😀
@vmaxgr I’m sure John had the highest regard for Jeff (we know for certain that the other three Beatles adored him) so I very much doubt John’s comment was intended to be patronising, much the same as his famous “bigger than Jesus” comment was taken out of context. It’s just the common perception that the Beatles were so far superior and that this perception is widely accepted without debate.
Hi India i love your videos and your sincere appreciation for music.i have loved elo since I was probably 8 or ten and im so glad you love them too they are a truly great band with an awesome body of work.i really wish you would review Don't Walk Away by them.it was in the movie Xanadu.such a beautiful song speaks to the despair of lost love🖤🎶
Orchestra is definitely in this as all of their songs. It’s one reason I would recommend a live version so you can see the full orchestra. I love your reaction just after 2 1/2 minute mark- where you adjust your legs and yourself in the chair, raise your arms and squint your face. When I see that, I get the feeling you really are getting in tune with a song.
NOT a big deal.....but you're the 2nd reactor I've heard in recent weeks to call them 'eeeelow'. It's just pronounced 'E....L...O' ....their initials for 'Electric Light Orchestra'.
Thank you for listening to ELO, they're a great band, and have many hidden gems that aren't as well known as they should be. One such gem I would recommend listening to is, 'Don't Walk Away', a power ballad from the film Xanadu, which ELO made songs for. You have to listen to it to appreciate, its beyond description.
Love to watch your reactions I've been a lifelong musician singer so I know a lot of songs and over time they kind of lose their luster like anything like a car or a new toy but when you hear the songs for the first time I remember the first time I heard the song and fell it love with It😊✌ thanks bud
Excellent wit! No sarcasm here . Do not think that. Seriously. Good one! Sarcasm never works in the written words anyhow. One of those thumbs up be mine.😀
Ahaghhhh,,,, Just got back from the downtown palais Where the music was so sweet It knocked me right back in the alley I'm ready Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm ready..
If you want a fun happy ELO song listen to "Jungle"...since I heard you say you like lyric videos, here's one with some fun video to go along with it... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WZiPPgctES4.html
E.L.O Initials, not a word. John Lennon was interviewed in the mid-late 70's and was asked what he thought The Beatles would sound like if they were still together. His answer: Electric Light Orchestra. Have you listened to Strange Magic?
India; beautiful reaction; truly. This is the music of my youth and you do it real credit. Yes I love Falling Reverse and Slipknot but this brings it all back. Thank you.
This song expresses an experience lots of people may relate to, specially back in the days when there was no cell phones and you had to depend on an operator to connect your call.
Hey India 😊 Absolutely love your reactions. You have reacted to so many of my favs. You are such a beautiful person. Was hoping you might consider doing a reaction on some beautiful old songs by Sandy Posey. I think you would enjoy her. Golden Oldies rite. Luv luv luv your channel.
Love your channel! You listen so thoughtfully. Just watched Brown eyed girl and Baker Street before this. I recommend you try Into the Mystic also by Van Morrison
This is my favorite ELO song. You should watch Xanadu(1980). Obviously you couldn't watch it in a video, but It stars Olivia Newton John, and she plays one of the muses of Zeus who comes to earth. It's a musical and ELO does the soundtrack. It's such a fun movie, and Olivia is so beautiful and iconic in that movie. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that.
I really like your channel and that not only do you have great reactions but you listen to all types of music. I would love to see your reactions to Morosette Amon - Akin Ka Na Lang and 4th Impact - Times Two if get a chance. Also for old school rock, Eric Carmen - Make lose control. Thanks again for helping us smile, laugh, and cry.
I remember answering the phone just as I came into the house after a break up with my boyfriend. The crackle sound as he was calling from a phone booth to say sorry. The longest break up was almost two very long two weeks. We were together all through high school (first love for both) and beyond until Hunningtons desease took him from me. Awesome review and thank you for sparking memories with this song
ELO never had a #1 song in the US. Their only #1 in the UK has a big asterisk by it - ELO featuring Olivia Newton John. Xanadu. With Jeff just singing backup.
Hi India, I love watching your reactions and this was a great one, ELO were serious players back in the day - great band. There is a track from the seventies that I think you would love, and I would certainly like to see your reaction to it. It's called 'Never Letting Go' by Stephen Bishop - in fact, there is also 'Little Italy' , On and On, Careless on the same album that I think you would really like. I hope it's ok to ask you here, I don't know how else I might suggest something - have a great day :-)
