I have been using this electric truckmount to clean full-time since 2012, and used it part-time for several years prior to that. It is super reliable to operate and any problems are easy to diagnose and fix.

Excellent video and very detailed ref the equipment, parts, etc. I already have a van and I'm looking to start my own carpet cleaning business (residential and light commercial) in NC. I'll probably start out with a portable heat extractor unit, smaller attachment wand for upholstery, carpet pump sprayer and a vacuum booster for better suction. Once I get more customers, I'll probably go truckmount with a larger vehicle. Any suggestions on a good reliable portable machine like the Prospector PE5003? Any help would be appreciated.

I really admire your custom pump, im planning to make one for my new set up. Can you reccomend a few great electric motors?? Does it ever over heat on constant runtime?
@AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack 2 года назад
That motor was one I got from ebay for about $150 so it was cheaper than most. It was a Sierra brand however I don't recommend it because it failed too early.... probably because it was cheap! Baldor, Leeson, and Marathon all make good motors but will be probably twice the cost although I believe it's worth it in the long run. I used a smaller motor than the pump called for because I wasn't using the pump at it's full capacity. It's rated for 1500 psi but I kept it at 600 psi so I could get away with the smaller motor and pull less amps. It would overheat only when I increased the pressure up above 1000 psi, but never at the 600 I ran it at. I decided to go back with the Pumptec 1200 psi Water Otter. It puts out plenty of pressure and flow for my needs, plus it comes as one piece so it's easier to set up.

@AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack 3 года назад
I've never measured the vacuum so I can't give any numbers but the vacuum is very good. Although the pump I'm using right now has a little less pressure and flow than my other one, I was getting dry times of 4-5 hours while running 600 psi with two 11003 jets. I was alao doing both forward and backward wet strokes with the wand so all in all I'd say it was pretty efficient.

What are the specs on your heater?? i got me 112V Hot link 200F Diesel Heater from steambrite. any reccomendations?
@AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack 2 года назад
It's rated at 60° rise at 1.5 gpm and 120° rise at .75 gpm. I run rwo 11003 or two 11004 jets, depending on which wand I use so since I'm flowing under 1 gpm, I should be getting about a 100° rise in temps. It's just a guess but the water is super hot and makes a lot of steam so I think it's somewhere around there. Of course, I have the smallest heater Little Giant makes so they have some that get hotter with higher flow.

i run a portable in my van it has 2 3 stage vacs, 500 psi pump and a 1800 watt heater. i just run to 50’ cords to the house from a autoreel for power. it works great. just have to do good dry passes and run an airmover (every tech should be doing that anyways). im thinking of doing 55 gal drums for fresh water and waste tank. the waste tank will have 2 3 stage vacs plumbed to it with a 3rd for a booster. i might get a generator for backup power.

@@AllAmericanMack the LX should last about 1500 hours according to manufacturer. I had them less then a month very new with them. However there is a guy who is using them for about a year now and he also compares them with his 47 blower, he says he gets the same results at 100 ft. 175 ft no problems with these vacs. If you have them in parallel you will get crazy CFM, mine is set up in series and its rated at 225-250cfm in series and that's good enough but very high lift. In parallel you might get closer to 300 CFM if I am not mistaken don't quote me on that. These are 6.6 not 5.7, make sure you have enough space in there.

It probably would but it's too much of a strain on it. Total max watts was right at 4500 at startup. With the Pumptec 500 psi and both vacs I was running it off of a 3500 watt generator for a while. No, just fresh water. I know there's a lot of debate about running either an alkaline rinse, acid rinse, or fresh water but I've been happy with just water. I've done a little pH testing after cleaning with using 10 and under prespray with the fresh water rinse only and contrary to popular belief, the pH is not that high, usually around 7.5 to 8. Plus on frequent accounts I've never experienced any rapid resoiling and the carpets are always soft, not crunchy. This convinced me I really didn't need a rinse although I think rinses do help in certain situations like rat nasties or to correct some residue problems.

You could add an Aquatec 220 psi pump and maybe use an electric heater. What about running your portable from your vehicle? Cobb Carpet Supply has a kit available to add a another vacuum motor to portables which could give you enough vacuum and just leave the equipment inside your vehicle. @@AllAmericanMack I have at least at least $5000 to get all stuff like wands, truckmount and chemicals which is hard for me. I was debating on getting a used truckmount but i am not sure if getting it cheap it will break down on the job
@AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack 3 года назад
If it were me, I would build a system using a drum or the Mytee waste tank like in the video I showed. $500 for the vac system, $500 for the pump, $1500 for the heater, $800 for a generator, and the rest for hoses, wands, etc. Of course that's *IF* you are wanting to go with electric. Or you could go with the Mytee Escape but that won't leave much $$ for everything else. There's nothing wrong with going with a used gas truckmount either if that's the route you want to go. I stuck with the electric system because it performs well despite what those who have never used one claim, cheaper to make or buy, and *EASY & CHEAP* to fix. I personally would be very cautious buying a used gas truckmount because I don't want other peoples problems and don't want to have to bring it in to a distributor for service if I can't figure out what's wrong with it. That's time and $$ wasted in my opinion. But again, that's just my opinion and I'm not saying you shouldn't buy one if that's what you want to do..... it's just not for me. If you were close to Louisiana I would sell you my equipment for cheap since I'm all vlm now.

@@AllAmericanMack wait I seen the the electric truckmounts are cheap but how long do they last? I heard about a year? @AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack 3 года назад
There aren't a lot of options for etm's. Pretty much Bane (which I would not get -way underpowered and expensive) and Mytee, unless you find one of the used Savage-1's or TechnoVikings, but there aren't many of those. As far as how long they last, I'm quite sure every one of them last's way longer than a year. Maybe the vac motors need to be changed yearly but that's cheap and easy. I used mine from 2012 until a few months ago. Actually, they will last longer with less maintenance than gas truckmounts...there's just not much to go wrong. On mine for example, I need 3 cords. I used the generator because it's just easier than running 3 cords but the generator is a convenience, not a necessity. Again, if it were me(and this is exactly what I did) I'd still go with what I said earlier. Build the drum with vacs, pump and motor like mine, Little Giant propane heater, a generator to run it all, and spend the rest on wand, hoses, maybe a reel, chems, etc. Or you could go all vlm which is cheaper route but if customers are wanting truckmoumt cleaning, vlm may not be the way to go. I was worried about getting resistance from customers wanting steam over vlm and there have been a few but it's really not been much of an issue.

It has worked just fine since I keep the pump at no more than 600 psi although the pump is capable of more. If you are going to run it near max psi, which I think is around 1500 psi, you would want a bigger motor. I did turn up the psi one time to try and do some pressure washing and the motor overheated and shutdown until it cooled off. I believe it called for 1 - 1.5 hp and I went with .75 hp.

I've been using my electric setup for going on 9 years. I may get a get a gas TM one day but as of now I'm still happy with what I've been using. If you haven't seen them yet, I have quite a few other videos of my equipment and using it to clean.

I dont think thats all electric you still need gasoline for the generator to give electricity to the machine

It's electric because I don't need the generator to run it, it's just more convenient than finding three seperate outlets.
