Thank you so much for this perfect video! Explained everything and was even simpler than expected. $35 pump from Amazon. Just saved me from getting hijacked by a repair person charging hundreds of dollars.

Awesome video this was amazing. My washer was making a very strange noise and I knew what the problem was because this same thing happened a few months after I purchased my Electrolux washer in 2013. You see my hubby is and electrician and he puts wire in his pocket, (do you see where this is going?) yep I washed a piece of wire. Well we were lucky because our washer was under warranty and Electrolux changed the pump even though it was just a piece of wire that had gone to the drain pump. Well it started doing the awful noise again the other day and I knew I must have missed a piece of wire. So I went to the amazing RU-vid and found the AMAZING video that showed me (yes ME) step by step how to get to the drain pump and low and behold there was that naughty piece of wire that I missed. Thank you so much you saved us I am sure over $200 in a service repair call.

Excellent... excellent... excellent. Not only did I get my drain pump replaced, I found out WHY it had gone bad in the first place. In fact, it wasn't bad! It was my wife's underwire bra WIRE that had fallen out and went through the drain holes and down to the drain pump. When it hit it, it caused the log jam. Obviously with the obstruction, the pump wouldn't turn. I think I now have a spare drain pump and everything is back together. Oh! I loved that I now know how to remove and replace the rubber thing by the door of the washer -- VERY EASY. I had no idea how to do it and I think I might be able to make most any repair now. Thank you... THANK YOU!! Thanks so very much for your perfect video.

Fantastic video. Repairman said $450 for parts and labor to install a new pump. Bad news for him because I'm not spending $450 to fix a washer that broke so easily. I'd rather put the money toward a new washer. Then I found out that the pump is a $100 part, and I found this video showing how easily it is to install. Better yet, once I got the old pump out, I saw that the pump wasn't broken after all. It just had something stuck in it. Put it all back together, and good as new. Saved me at least $450 and probably the price of a new washer.

Really appreciated this video-- helped me troubleshoot my Electrolux Washer issue for Model EFLS517SIW. My washer was unable to drain, didn't know if the issue was the pump or ? but dove in. The door assembly was locked due to a safety switch that was reading water in the drum. I ended up pulling the front panel off and the door, was a little difficult and time consuming. After some time spent disassembling the front panel to access the pump, I found the pump and hoses to be relatively clean. I poured water into the washer tub and only got a trickle out of the washer tub to pump hose shown in a related repair clinic video. I removed this with a 7mm hex driver (is also a Phillips screw but could not see from the front), and pulled the hose assembly down. Low and behold their is a basket strainer inside the rubber hose and was loaded with few coins, few hairpins, a few small pieces of fabric, and a plastic ID card. Pretty amazing all this worked it's way through the punched plate drum and crevices. Unit was put in service in 2017, so this occurred after a little more than 3 years. I was noticing that the unit would start and a bad smell from a little water discharged, but didn't realize there was likely a small amount of stagnant water left inside the drum and held up by this filter. Being an engineer myself, once again I can see this model having a huge design flaw. There are many front load washers that have a small access panel in the front to clean out the drain trap and recommend doing this pretty regularly. This Electrolux has the filter buried inside the rub drain hose with very difficult access--most people will have to call an appliance technician to do this and pay $150+. I will know better next time I buy a washer (and likely go back to a simpler top loader). Thanks again for the video and all the user comments below!

Wonderfully made video and spot on information. All of my research online made me think it was a bad drain pump. I then called my local appliance guy to source the part in New Paltz NY and he was nice enough to explain it was probably the FILTER BEIZNG CLOGGED. I told him the unit is 2.5 years old and he thought the drain pump should still be good. It was still good. Cleaning the filter on this unit is harder than changing the pump but much less money. I found an ankle sock, lot's of lint, busted up plastic, fabric from a bra and some busted plastic pieces. This video gave me ability to locate the filter area along with the help of a SEARS schematic diagram of the unit. 8 hours later and 100s of dollars saved the clothes are cleaner and the cycle is faster than ever. THANK YOU for the video.

Great video. Just to get the repairman to show up is an $85 flat fee and then he has to return with the parts plus another $85 flat fee. Saved me over $200. Thanks!

Perfect video. Clear, great details on video. Enabled me to dig into my wife’s failed washer and between the video, and the great comments, discovered a bra wire jamming the pump. A little more water then I expected but doesn’t bother me in the slightest. This short vid literally saved us hundreds of $$$. Plus who knows how much down time waiting for a repairman.

This was a great video. Our washing machine started making a very loud noise when the drain pump came on and it sounded like something was trapped in the pump. I watched the video and my son and I took the washing machine apart in 20 minutes (with a power Dewalt screwdriver). There was a long plastic piece caught in the drain and we removed it. We then put the washing machine back together and it worked great. No repair man needed!

Perfect. My washer wasn't draining the water. It would come to that part of the cycle and just make a humming noise. Followed this step by step video. Took apart the actual pump (4 screws) and there was a nail in there preventing the pump from working. Put it all back together and viola' shit is working again.

Thanks for the video! Washer would not drain and was making a loud buzzing sound before spin cycle. I took it apart and found a 3mm allen wrench that got caught in the drain pump. Thanks again, probably saved me a couple hundred bucks for a service call from a repairman.

Really appreciate this video. I have Electrolux front loader (eifls6olss1) that wouldn`t drain and had burning smell (the motor kind of smell - not rubber). Also had loud humming noise at drain cycle. Video taught me how to disassemble properly and gain access to the main drain hose and check for blockage (the large one from under drum). While squeezing hose to feel for blockage I could feel something was definitely in there. Removed black drain hose from pump motor and sure enough, found a bra wire half stuck in pump motor. This is twice this has happened. First time I paid a professional $150 to remove. This time I did it for free in about half hour. Sure many can do it quicker, but I`m not a handyman - relied fully on this video. Thanks Repair Clinic. FYI, if you have teenage girls, make sure they use the bra bags - or be prepared to fix or pay.

Great video went perfectly well , my advice is to open machine as instructed, pull the water lines off and make sure its not blocked i found a small wire in my pump stopping the spin. I had already bought the part.

Great video. I was out of the country last year when my washer would intermittently not drain. My wife had a tech diagnose and replace the pump for $350. Then again this year the washer failed to drain. I watched your video and I found a wire stuck in the drain pump impeller preventing operation. Thank you Repair Clinic. You saved me a lot of money.

Awesome video. Very helpful. I took apart the pump thinking it was the cause of odoriferous eminations every time I started a load. The drum did not smell at all. Pump was clean and I ended up shoving an electrician's snake into the drain hose and lo and behold after I ran a rinse and drain cycle I saw yellow chunks of nastiness come out. Keeping my fingers crossed for no more smells!

Any tips for getting the filter boot back on and the clamp tightened?
@celeritas2-810

Like many here it was a blockage in my pump inlet causing the problem, the pump was fine. For anyone curious about how this showed itself, repeated E20 errors during the wash that would eventually finish with enough restarts.

Is access to filter any easier?? I know that's what is clogged. Cannot find a video other than the old ones that show the filter access in front with a panel to open. Mine has no such thing. It's a 2011 model.

Thank you for the great video. As a side note: this is pretty poor engineering by Electrolux. You need to disassemble so much to replace a part that is among the most likely ones to break.

They used to have an easy access panel on the front of the washer to pull out and clean filter. Companies are making it harder for do-it-yourselfers!!!
