Thank you for another great reaction. FYI 2018 was held in Lisbon, Portugal, and the organizers decided not to use LEDs as part of the stage, so each country had to be more creative and use other resources to shine on stage. The decision had to do with a budget stuff, I think. Eleni was the runner up but for many of us she should have won and get the first victory for Cyprus.
Yes the budget was the main reason against the LED wall and LED floor. Portugal was and is still i an economic crisis and to host an ESC is so expensive. They have decided to turn the disadvantages into advantages. They tried to focus on sustainability and cost efficiency in all their organisations. 2018 is by far my favorite ESC. So much creativity and passion.
@@Matthillsworth all I can say is rtp did an amaxing job. They hosted everything to such a great degree. I happened to be at the contest in Lisbon in person in 2018 and truly you couldn't tell they were so constrained by budget. It all felt epic but so so authentically Portuguese. Plus it was great to experience a host city just so happy and excited to host the contest
@@Matthillsworth perfect answer. Thanks. Maybe with irony they will understand.. It's not a matter of couple of millions.. It was an really choice! Bring the autenticy and true talent to stage.. And with Eleni, that's the point!!
A note on glitter: she isn't wearing the kind of glued on loose glitter that gets everywhere, her outfit is made with hundreds of thousands of stones, handsown to the sheer fabric.
Can you please react to Bosnia and Herzegovina 2006. The song ended up on 3th place (Lordi won that year). In my opinion, that is one of the best ballads in whole Eurovision history. So magical song with beautiful melody.
Sad you didn't mention the extreme dancing and singing at the same time. She killed it in my opinion. You can hear that she is out of breath at the end..
Just like in the case of Australia you reacted, the studio version of this song was not really that much on people's radar to win before the contest, but again she shot straight up to the top of betting odds after her first rehearsal, because of her great performance and seductive stage presence. She came second to Netta - Toy (pre-rehearsal favorite), because me too movement was big at that time, and the song (although it's a fun, unique, upbeat song, with ethnic sound), had that message and probably contributed a bit to her win. Honestly, I love both of them, but Cyprus reigns supreme for me.
Well, to be fair, Cyprus isnt known for big productions in Eurovision, this in my ipinion was their best stage production for eurovision so far, also the fact that the 2018 stage offers litle possibilities for ideas to stage a performace, making other countries that year to bring their own stuffs to add to their performance( the projection dress from estonia, sweden's own light effects, those "filter" effects used by norway, cyprus and lithuania, germanys own projection screen, russia's projection mountain), that stage murdered a lot of good songs that year,😂😂😂
If you look closely to her catsuit, it's not glitter but sequin. She had 4 of the same style but different colours as she wished to choose the final one depending on what looked better on stage during the rehearsals back in 2018. Each one of them costed £45000. That deligation did a fantastic job with Eleni and Cyprus is extremely proud of her for becoming a Eurovision icon and example. Thank you Eleni.
And I would say it again, it just happens, that we recommended you big visual performances first. They are really not that common, at least in a year, but you got all at once haha, so now everything in comparison might not seem so great. I think visually, 2016 was the best, since the whole stage (floor and background) was one giant LED screen, which offered a lot of opportunity for visual effects.

React to Ukraine 2011 final, a unique staging also react to: Sweden 2011 final (the start of the Swedish dominance of the decade with 8 top 10 placings including 2 victories and 2 3rd places (like 2011) The Netherlands 2019 (winner, idk if you already reacted to that)
