I speedrun Luigi's Mansion while Luigi is dead... And it was weird. ► ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o6HJtGOJtBs.html Thanks for watching this video everyone. Sorry it took so long to get out!
I think him being a placeholder for bogmeyer is probably the safest bet. It doesn't help that they both look like they are liquid based, slime to be specific. And with the attacks and particles added on, I think what happened was either somebody looked at this and thought it would be too scary for Luigi's Mansion, and then changed it to bargmeyer, or thought the boss would probably be too hard, so they went with something easier. Either case, what a great find
Maybe Elh could've been the balcony boss since you get the ice ability before going there, and maybe one of the unicorn statues could've been fire while the other remained ice, with you having to switch between the two during his battle. Elh could've also meant elemental
I think it would have been so terrifying and awesome if Elh ended up being a sort of Nemesis or Mr. X type enemy. Just constantly stalking you throughout the mansion, or many the chase would have been triggered by something?
My theory on Elh: If I remember correctly, there is an unused cave area (or something similar) that would be outside the mansion. Since only one part was finished, I'm assuming that Elh would have been the boss of the cave, but Nintendo scrapped it.
I think the reason why Elh has only fire and ice related effects is because he is meant to be made of water himself, which is where his flowy movements and attack would come into place, completing the element trio
My idea is that Elh would have had several appearances, with different elemental powers, and would've blocked the way. Then you'd use whichever element matches him to pass.
It's possible that Elh was supposed to be a more human-shaped ghost or not even supposed to be a ghost at all. Maybe Luigi's mansion developers once had the idea of monsters and poltergeists.
Funfact: the status where Luigi would scamper on the floor moving backwards is actually from a cut ghost that would turn invisible and jumpscare Luigi causing a cartoony looking text bubble to appear and Luigi's health to drop to half of what it currently is. This enemy's concept would be reused in the sequel: Dark Moon, with the main difference being the scampering and remarkable health drop being cut.
Here's how I think he'll be like if he got in the game: Elh is a spiritual elder that was made by Egadd, who jumbled up several ghosts. Elh walks around in wetlands and mansions until the creature finds an victim to kill and drag somewhere..."private" Appears: after you kill about 9000 ghosts, on top of the mansion When you succ Elh: After he gets out of your grasp, he spawns 3 ghosts Attack animation: lashes forward at you and attacks Attack animation #2: shoots you with white ink, blinds your screen Attack animation #3: malfunctions and shoots an icicle out of his chest that makes your skin softer (you take extra damage) Attack animation #4: malfunctions yet again, spreading 3 medium sized lava pools for 7 seconds. I didn't really play L's Mansion, so give me more ideas in replies!
Elh could have been an enemy encountered solely during the blackout as well. Could make that section a little more engaging than just a bunch of ghosts spawning
given how each major special key is guarded by a boss ghost... it honestly makes me wonder... would van gore (probably messed his name up) have originally given us a normal key which led us to Elh, or would he have somehow been the creator of such a horror? as... the key before king boo was a special one, and to me personally... it felt anticlimactic to obtain, meaning that... maybe this creature from beyond... was the original guardian of such a key?
maybe it was a boss that was scrapped in favour of Boolossus, in case they realised a bit too late that there weren't enough rooms in the mansion to hide all 50 boos? or a stalking enemy during the blackout portion of the game designed to funnel you into the basement while also acting as an obstacle to get there? something could have been inside of its torso, perhaps a flame or an elemental core that provided light for this reason. heck, maybe Luigi was supposed to fit into the chest, and it's a ghost mech suit?
Personally I've always felt it was going to be one of those wondering the halls type bosses where luigi would have to avoid him in some places and lure him into the right spot to damage him or making progress anotherway like smashing barriers The walk cycle seems like it would be just barely slower than Luigi's running speed and it's damage attack reminded me with the idea of knocking something over to hurt it like a heavy bookcase or a ceiling fixture It could've used elemental attacks to temporarily block off corridors but they could be accessed sooner if you have the opposite element While it would actual deal damage to luigi by hinting him down and giving him a good slapping Then once certain conditions have been met it would end with a quick boss fight where it would hurl elemental attacks at luigi or something
I’ve watched all your Luigi’s Mansion videos because I love your passion for the game. I must of completed the first one atleast 15 times, it’s short but amazing especially for the time it came out. Luigi’s Mansion 3 is great but it just doesn’t have the atmosphere the first one had.
I never heard about this ELH before, this is really interesting and creepy, I hope someone gets their hands on a beta copy and see if there's more about this creepy dude
Also vacuuming each cloth material and uncovering everything you can interact with does nothing , humping every thing doesn’t do anything either other than the casual money flying out
I wonder if maybe the ONLY way of damaging Elh was elemental attacks? I haven't played much of this game, and not in a while, but the idea is that you suck up the ghosts' hearts, right? With that twisted cage at its midsection, maybe Elh didn't have a heart to target, and you had to find other ways to beat it.
Late to this but I bet Elh was supposed to be a plant type monster you find in or around the courtyard, perhaps half Fire Flower Plant and Ice Flower(is that a thing?) Plant as to mix the upgrade items into the Mario universe.
Has anyone thought that elh could be a friendly ghost. Like maybe you would need to summon him for help in certain parts and he follows you or maybe it could of been what you played as in multiplayer.
I think he was the normal Design for the shadows of the second Boss but they didnt want to make the Elements in the Arena so they dropped him in the Files unfinished
Elh...like the letter L? Like a personal nightmare of Luigi's. The whole rising out of the floor thing makes me think it comes from the shadows, maybe Luigi's. If I designed Elh, in context with Luigi's Mansion and it's inspiration from Resident Evil, I would make Elh a stalker like enemy, something that chases you from room to room, Luigi's Mansion's own Mr. X. It's THAT terrifying if a presence and has a striking figure.
Maybe we're looking at this in the wrong way. What if Elh was never meant to have a texture. The unused sound file for it sounds like super natural whispering characteristic of a ton of ghostly creatures without a mouth (slenderman anyone) and it's actually way more complete than we think. Or maybe it's the case of ocarina of time where Elh was used to map out the attack patterns of a boss but at the time the devs wanted two elements instead of one
i think he was supposed to gaurd a door and the elements were to counter any attacks threw at him and you had to hit him with a certain object found in the room
Part of me thinks it could have been the final boss before Nintendo decided to go for a more “familiar” or fitting final boss Think about it, he controls the elements so you probably have to use them against it The “hurt” animation would be more in line with such too
Hmm... So his name is Elh yea? Could be short for Element or an odd spelling of such. The theory of being a combination of the elemental ghosts would make a lot more sense as a result. Perhaps sort of like a precursor to Boolossus? Showing the player that ghosts can combine together?
with the many beta nintendo stuff that has leaked in the past I really hope Luigi's Mansion's Beta and many mysteries can be discovered someday, specially that animated FMV cutscene
@@kaatohigashikata4229 I remember having a dream once that there was another version of Luigi’s Mansion released in 2000 for the n64 I remember it so clearly it was something I was curious about why I had that dream
ngl the whole time i had in the back of my head "what if elh was a recurring chaser enemy that you couldn't beat up like the water wraith from pikmin 2", which would make sense as to why the character was scrapped because a chaser enemy might not mesh well with a game 85% comprised of narrow halls, unless luigi could hide somewhere via something like the crouching mode also not to mention, the way elh enters the set could be used anywhere, so hypothetically luigi could be exploring somewhere in the mansion and elh would surprise him by rising out of the ground, prompting luigi to have to run and hide it's a fun theory imo and would have made for a sick obstacle
that's a cool idea, i was thinking maybe he is a boss you encounter several times, and each time he has a different element, maybe for when you get each elemental medal?
"A ghost that exists, never to be seen" - until someone comes out with a leaked beta version of Weegi's House that was stolen from that data breach a while back. Wouldn't doubt it. But who knows?
If anything comes out whatsoever, my bets are not on fully compiled "builds" but rather assets like models, textures and some source code. Kinda doubt the possibility of that anyway.
I was thinking. maybe Elh could have been something similar to Nemesis and Mr. X from the Resident evil games. a very powerful enemy that would roam around the mansion and you had to try and avoid him to try and figure out a way to weaken him enough to suck him up.
Or maybe it could've been used for a few scripted events to lead players towards the next room? Could've been interesting having all rooms suddenly locked except for one while you run through the whole mansion trying to escape that thing...
I could see something like that tbh. The "wandering immortal monster that terrorizes the player" is a horror game trope, Nintendo even experimented with the idea in Metroid Fusion with the SA-X. It's not a stretch imo to suggest that they had at least consider having a monster like this in Luigi's Mansion, before ultimately scrapping the idea. Likely due to believing it would be too scary for young audiences.
Imagine Elh was planned to be the Nemesis of Luigi's Mansion, a monster that hunts you down and ambushes you when you least expect it, for all we know Elh stands for "Evil Luigi Hunter"
i'm thinking it's either that or a scrapped design for a reoccuring enemy that had a gimmick related to that open space in it's torso or a boss like bogmire
Elh’s sidestep makes me think it could’ve been some kind of bodyblocking enemy. Maybe an early check for if Luigi had a certain element, where it would have an elemental core connecting its body parts that would have to be destroyed so Luigi could move on, and the reason it has multiple elemental effects is because it would have had three variants, one to be taken down by each element Luigi got as he unlocked the rest of the mansion, either that or it was an ice-only enemy and it had an effect for burning away. Probably got replaced because it was so big and clunky for the game’s tight rooms and halls, and they changed the concept to elementally charged doors, and gave the core shields to regular enemy variants later in development instead.
i think youre right on the money with this one. it would make so much sense regarding its animations. i could see it being bunched up on the floor or under the floor, and rising when luigi gets close. then side stepping to block luigi and smacking him backwards if he gets right up in its space.
I truly believe that the atmosphere.of Luigi's Mansion was planned to be far darker than the final product. In addition to this creepy Elh character, one of the unused bits of audio sounds down right demonic !
Kind of sucks that they didn’t even decide to revive and finish him in the 3ds port of Luigi’s Mansion as such a tough late game enemy or even a secret boss of sorts maybe, it would have been really cool to finally see it finished and fully functional
Dark Moon wasn't necessarily a port. It was a sequel. Or are you talking about the virtual console port? If so, I don't believe they made any updates to any of the virtual console games.
@@brick-a-day3294 I think it was a remake since they fully changed the gallery and how it works I think along with the ghost dog from Dark Moon being there too
(@@memelord7818) Neither I’m talking about this video’s Luigi’s Mansion for the Gamecube that years later got a port for the Nintendo 3ds, I know Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon was a sequel
Based on the aggressive behavior from Elh’s animations, the fact that he doesn’t get sucked up, and he can rise through the floor, I can see him as being a pursuer-type enemy. With his access to different elements, he could be fought at different points in the game until his driven off and comes back later in the game.
I feel that’s the whole point of his name even. ELement, “Elh”. Maybe he was just a test or placeholder to see how the elements in the game were handled Edit: I completely agree that he was indeed more then just a placeholder for elements my bad I worded that poorly. What I was meaning was possibly his name “Elh” was a placeholder that’s a direct hint towards his function and characteristics. I think he was a scrapped boss with elemental abilities that you had to use certain elements to combat him with(depending on what he was using). Either way, his model is really cool and it’s a bummer we’ll never get to see him fully realized. Sorry for the confusion everyone!
2:37 I can't believe Nintendo was able to get away with adding the feature of sacrificial acts without getting into any controversy Also, don't you mean..... "Elh-der gods"
@@AUSans101 I've never seen this person in any other comment section that I've been in. And besides, this person isn't as common as OwO, Just a Random Guy without a mustache, and Justin Y. Those guys are more well known.
wasn't there a theory that the clock tower was closed due to violent accidents that resulted in people getting caught in gears of the clock? There was supposedly photos of what looked like clothing stuck in the top gears
@@lopzxx5036 aww, dnot liek wheen eye misplel? goona halve two deel weth it, correcting the grammar of a word you dont know how to use properly doesnt help your trash argument buddy
I always thought he looked tree like. Remember that one video where you found spaces in the mansion where it almost looked like you could go into the forest? Maybe that’s where this enemy would come from?
Grasping at straws: Maybe he could've been found in the cave was found out of bounds? It kinda makes sense as it was scrapped meaning he would be to. He might have been a boss there.
I think he was one of a few things. Either A. He was gonna be the bogmire fight as you have to two elemental medals needed at that point, B. What Boolossus replaced or my wild theory C. An early Van Gore. He seems to have paint brushes for arms and his twisted appearance seems to fit the name, and was possibly removed for being too dark
Three, potentially. You get the Ice Medal so early into Chapter 3 that I always thought it was out of place being introduced in a later chapter than the Water and Fire Medals.
i like to imagine Elh like a mid game boss/enemy the fact that he uses only fire and ice means he could be defeated using only the first two elements and he could've been some sort of introduction to the ice element
