They didn’t realize how short life is, much like regular folk. I bet we regular folk out here don’t always recognize the important people around us either.
They first wanted to do Cat on a hot tin roof in black and white. Then someone said: we have the 4 bluest eyes in Hollywood - not gonna happen. Smart choice!
@@keythdanielsen5533 Her eyes were a vibrant dark blue combined with a pale skin and very dark hair. Her eyes merely appeared to be purple when exposed to certain lighting, makeup, or clothing.
Although I'm not English or American to be able to see a movie in English, without subtitles, that can't "cover" the charm of understanding the original movie lines, still as one who has one of the movie's hobbies, I can say that in the movie " Cat on a hot tin roof "from 1958, the two were young, but they had acting inclinations for scenarios with totally different subjects .... the fact that they played in the film mentioned above, was a (happy) event and that's it, but the film remains in the history of the film as a collection .... throughout his career, P. Newman did not play much in love stories - throughout his career as one of the Hollywood titans ... P. Newman doesn't have the same acting inclinations as Richard Burton ... I don't know if I could tell you why they only played together in one movie, and that at a young age ... Liz still remains the "standard of female beauty" that she shone at all ages with her beauty, although English women as an ethnic group are not beautiful women ... she is a beautiful exception ... the country in which they live is ex-communist, but in the 60's American films came on the screens, among them and the famous movie "Cleopatra" ... do you see P. Newman in the movie CLEOPATRA with Liz, in the role of Marc Antoniu (role played by R. Burton)? ... I don't see him ... just that I tried to emphasize in this post ... now for the two beloved actors I can say, with great regret ... RIP Paul and Liz ...
she was going to in one of his films, but that movie was made by fox and she made cleopatra which flopped, several people thought about reuniting them.
Back when Awards shows were Classy & Dignified. I remember growing up watching the Academy Awards each year with my Grandmother & we'd talk about how glamorous everyone looked. It was wonderful!
Liz looks spectacular! I was 17 in 1992 and remember thinking time was frozen and everyone, actors and family would remain the same in the moment. Would have been nice, there are so many missed.
I think because they were both still working and in the public eye, so to see them together was a treat, but it wasn't like they were absent and made a rare appearance. Yes I think they deserved one, but at the same time, I think because it wasn't a rare appearance, they just clapped for a while. My only theory.
It was a different time. A standing ovation wasn't needed, required, didn't mean they were less appreciated. They knew they were amongst their own & loved.
@@annkow9154 I agree. He made the art of acting look easy. He shunned the Hollywood scene, and he and Joanne lived in Connecticut. A classy guy all around. In an interview one time, the commentator asked him why he never played around on his wife?? (He, of course, could have had his pick of movie stars.) His reply, 'When you have steak at home, why go out for hamburger?'. Ha! He was indeed one of the classiest guys ever to grace the silver screen.
Yeah they didn't just virtue signal like most now days she had her AIDS work and he had Newmans Own and the Scott Newman Foundation after his son overdosed.
I saw a few movies in the '60s, with Liz Taylor, I was in a communist country where American or Western movies weren't very popular ... the only actress who fascinated me with her physical beauty (not her talent) was Liz Taylor. ... although she was of English ethnicity, and the English women are not (mostly) nice or beautiful women, Liz was by far a beautiful woman, both in her adolescence (she starred in movies at the age of 15), at the age of 35, but and at 75 (to the envy of other women) .... the appreciation you made for Liz, surprises me because it comes from a woman, and women in general do not compliment other women, rather ironic ... .when you think about the tumultuous life she lived ... if she had been contemporary with Liz, Cleopatra would have envied her ...
Great actors. Paul Newman will always be my favourite. How he led his personal life and what he stood for outside of acting. Not a lot of, if any, tat about Paul Newman. And of course those piercing blue-eyes. Elizabeth Taylor. Beauty beyond compare.x
You know, they talk about her violet eyes and his blue ones. They were certainly attractive. However, what set them both the apart was how they could act. Boy...could they act!
@@katehernandez8857 Brilliantly written dialogue perfectly acted by all. Burl Ives was terrific. Paul Newman was one superb actor and beautiful human on and off the screen. Liz, too, was amazing.
The only other guy I ever wanted to kiss me senseless that was nowhere near my age...The movie is an acting master class RIP Paul and thank you for so much. From Butch and Brick to Sully( Nobody’s Fool) and DocHudson, the spirit of a ‘55 Hudson Hornet in Cars YOU ARE MISSED.If you want to see an acting master class, go back and watch any of his movies and wait for the closer because half the time what he says isn’t what the character means to say. His eyes reveal everything.
They both looked terrific. I'm sure it was always difficult for Elizabeth to see Cat on a Hot Tin Roof because Mike Todd was killed during the filming of this movie.
I love this two artists. They were amazing as artists, solidarity, loyal and honorable people. The two most beautiful eyes in the history of world cinema. Beautiful eyes that reflected their immense heart.
They both had best eyes in hollywood elizabeth taylor was breath taking in that movie they should gotten a standing ovation that audience was lazy two of are greatest stars . 2:58
I saw an old Hollywood reporter being interviewed who said there were two male stars he witnessed who made people literally gasp when they walked into a room. One was Paul Newman in the 1950s and the other Paul Walker 50 years later.
@@heatherthomas7821 Yes, but the majority then based on scientific fact and research, awakening knowledge and compassion / altruism... Was not back then based on a historical revisionism and cancel culture hatred... destruction of lives /careers..
Actually both Newman and Taylor were politically active in their day. Newman was on Richard Nixon's enemies' list (which Newman always regarded as his greatest achievement). He supported democratic candidates, non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, and was one of the great philanthropists. Taylor was one of the first celebrities to use her fame & wealth to fight for AIDS awareness.
Today, grumpy cat would get a standing ovation- back pre 9/11 (that's when the obligatory standing O started) it took a lot for people to stand- Clearly- THIS SHOULD have been one of those times- come on!
