Dave Letterman is the King of Late Night. Jay’s interviews were scripted. Letterman’s never were. Letterman’s show was much more off the wall and funny.
I am still amazed that when Jay asked Elton to sing Philadelphia Freedom, they found the sheet music for the band, and he performed it in a totally different and shortened format. Although it came out great, you could tell Elton was not happy at all.
