Ah, the warm, comforting crackle of a VHS tape. I love it. Thanks for digitizing it before the tapes wear out! I'm 51 and need to digitize my community cable shows from when I was 20.
From 2:47 to 3:21 he's trying not to break and hanging on for dear life. And he makes it. Julia is unexpectedly funny without trying too hard to be, in a very humanistic way, and it got both me and Jiminy.
Was reading Tom Selleck's new book and he adored Carol Burnett! Had her on 2 episodes of Magnum as a guest star and she became a treasured friend of his.
🤣I have a sister like that! Pain in the butt! 😂. Her gifts to my parents were more expensive, and she was sure to bring them so we all could enjoy her stuff…oh the memories! She bought a television set…my gift was probably $5 at the time…can laugh now I am 77 but sure wasn’t funny at the time! 😊
When we saw these skits as kids, my father called them “Chaplinesque.” I didn’t know what he meant back then. But he later explained that they were hilarious on the surface, but deeply sad underneath.
Haha!!!! My first grade teacher actually used that same threat! If 2 kids were arguing when standing in a line to leave the classroom, she'd tell them, "Children, stand in line quietly. If you keep fighting I'll knock your heads together... and all the pumpkin seeds will fall out!" That that was so perplexing it kept everyone quiet. To a 1st grade mind there was a certain possibility that not only would the teacher knock two heads together to the point of cracking open, but also that their heads were really filled with pumpkin seeds - frightening image!
Ellen started this fight, I'm with Eunice. Here's Ellen, coming into Eunice and Ed's house and insulting them. Calling Eunice's food greasy; saying Eunice's cake is going to make everyone crazy; telling Ed the hardware business is nothing to be ashamed of, when he wasn't ashamed; telling Ed to be a bush if he can't be a tree. Then there's Mama, saying she thought the party was going to be a bust until Ellen showed up. Giving away Eunice and Ed's gift to another person, right in front of them. I would have went off on Mama and Ellen too.
