All I can say is what an eclectic group! This was legendary from the start! A music superstar, a tennis superstar, Dame Edna, and a TV weatherman. This was wacky, but fun.
I don't see why everyone in the comment section is hating on Willard Scott. I started this video not knowing who the fuck he was, and was only watching to see Dame Edna. Long winded yes, but he was entertaining none-the-less. I guess to each his own.
You are obviously, OBVIOUSLY, too young to remember Willard Scott on the "Today Show" on NBC. He was THE biggest morning show name of any network because of his personality, and the "shout-outs" that he gave daily for people over 100. He had a fantastic personality, and made cameos on various other shows because of his recognition. You, young man, have a lot to learn about celebrities.
I don't understand the negative comments on here about Willard Scott. He seems like a nice enough guy, decent, funny, enjoys entertaining people. Anything else is probably rumor and innuendo. Stop believing everything you read and hear.
@@callmeerrol I wish I could find Elton's segment because now I want to watch it. I don't know if youtube took it down because so far I haven't found anything, unless I'm just not looking hard enough. I found two other Elton interviews from the "Tonight Show". One is from 1999 when he promoted the "Aida" CD and the other he's with Billy Joel, but don't know the year.

Elton John was about to make a joke--he actually was beginning to say it but it was inaudible--about pussy, and Billie Jean King stopped him and was BEGGING HIM TO SHUT-UP!! HAHAHAHA!! I have family who works in Hollywood and this was one of the most memorable events on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" EVER, so that is how I know this.
I just realized how personally insulted Elton John was after Willard Scott made the "with all due respect..." quip to him. It really hurt him, and even though I DID notice this when I first saw it, it wasn't as big of a deal to me until I watched it just now, again.

Willard just came in like a tornado and stole the spotlight. Dame Edna tried to bounce back but no luck. On the other hand, probably that was the right amount of cámara time for him. Could get real old real quick.
Amazing how poor your observation is. Edna struck like a cobra with the line re him making so much of nothing over the hair piece, no more needed to say, brilliance!
lol. "This is what is known as losing control of the show." I was too young to remember this. I'm more of a Conan O'Brien person (which started when I was 13 in 2004.) I don't think I've ever seen Leno with more than one guest on before. It was an interesting thing to behold. I do like Elton John though which is how I found your video.
