Brad Pitt read for a role in the film and Cassandra wrote “yum yum” next to his name on her script. She couldn’t hire him because he was too hot. She later sold her house to him. You need to read her memoir. It’s insane. The woman lived in a treehouse and became a showgirl at 15.

I grew up watching Elvira. Both her movies and when she was a hostess with the mostest. I never figured out whether i wanted to be her, or her best friend, or her girlfriend. She is amazing, and im so happy you saw this!

The character Bob was named after her real-life best friend Robert Redding, who was a costume designer and actor, it really sucked he passed away right before the premier, he helped her design her costume and make-up, she always attributes a lot of her success to him, and I just think its one more amazing thing about her

This is my all time favourite movie. I am 44 and have loved Elvira since I was 7 years old. I used to get up at night and sneak out to watch her do Elvira’s movie Macabre. My dad used to come out too yell at me and would end up watching it with me. She helped to shape the gay I am today. Also taught me you could be powerful In your sexuality without needing to take crap from anyone. I hope you enjoyed her very much! She is the Queen and ultimate Mistress of the Dark ❤

Elvira, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and Big Trouble in Little China were my three favorite movies from childhood. Pat Crawford Brown (Wig Lady) never became a household name, but if you watched movies/TV from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, you knew her face. She was a great talent and so funny!

I grew up in the 80's and saw this movie right around when it came out. It was on cable CONSTANTLY and every time it was on I had to watch it. It's absolutely, hands down, one of my favorite movies of all time, probably actually my number one. The looks, the jokes, the story, the monster puppet. God, everything about this movie is perfect.

She should have a movie made about her life. She was the youngest showgirl in Las Vegas history. She dated Elvis and Tom Jones. Toured through Europe as the lead singer of a rock band. Was a member of the comedy improv group The Groundlings. Has been a cultural icon for more than 4 decades and she can still wear the outfit. Not a bad life for a lady from Manhattan..........Manhattan, Kansas that is.

Cassandra mentions a lot of references to things that had happened to her - her favorite actor was Vincent Price (hence the main baddie being named Vincent) - Jerry Farwell getting all religious vs. the Elvira persona and of course her Mistress of the Macabre persona being a movie hostess. Her look in part IS from one of the characters in "Plan 9", too

Elvira was my first crush growing up. Ever since I've had a thing for strong goth women. I always liked that she didn't shy away from herself but also didn't take any bullshit off of people. It helped reinforce for me the idea to not be an asshole to women as I was a growing boy. She never backed down when she was mistreated. As I got older my appreciation for Cassandra Peterson grew. She's just an amazing woman and an understandable icon to many people from all walks of life. She's had a pretty incredible life. I have nothing but love and respect for her.

Elvira was THE Queen of Campy Horror for me growing up. I was obsessed with this movie and then another one of hers, Elvira's Haunted Hills. I played them until the VHS and DVD broke. She was one woman that my mom was fine with me admiring due to the fact she had such a savage mouth and was sassy as fuck. Plus, she never took any man's shit. No one can compare to her, no one. And if I could ever meet her, I'd be a happy little Elvira fangirl. Enjoy the meet and greet when it happens, and ugh, you are sooooo damn lucky. Again, thank you for another entertaining and fun video. You are and remain one of my handful of comfort channels. You and Zzavid. I wonder what that says about me... 😊😈😈

My best friend loved her and dragged me to the theatre to see this...I did NOT want to go! We laughed so f***ing hard! You have to like camp humor in order to enjoy this. The finale with the tassles was what made it for me. To think that was her ultimate dream to do a skeezy production based on her "talents"...I just howled with laughter. Even my (very Catholic) Mother roared when we watched it together! An 80's camp classic. "so much for my big opening"...best line!

Eddie McClurg is the actress who played "Chastity Pariah" - she loves playing "high and mighty" types who get their just deserts in the end. She and Cassandra Peterson were in The Groundlings together.

I've loved Elvira since I was a kid and Cassandra herself is a treasure who has lived an AMAZING life. Her book was great and she reads the audio version herself. Her other film, "Elvira's Haunted Hills," is an underrated gem despite a lot of drama behind the scenes.

I had a similar experience growing up with like a dozen VHS tapes that I just re-watched over and over. My go to was Big Trouble in Little China, taped off a local station, commercials and all! But I started working nights at a young age and would hit up the local rental place and get a new movie every night since there was nothing to do after work and got caught up quick. :D

I am an 80s kid, and I somehow got my parents to rent this for me for one of my Halloween slumber parties in elementary school. Anyone who came of age during video stores will know that usually you found movies based on the cover art. I guess it was ridiculous enough that my parents didn't question it. I love Elvira and she still looks fierce in her 70s. So jealous that you and David are getting to meet her in person! Glad you enjoyed this; so iconic.

In 1992 my dad had three VHS tapes. Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, Warlock & Born on the 4th of July. Elvira & Warlock were watched on a loop. Those movies had a huge effect on my 10 year old brain. They actually share a lot of similarities too. Evil, British warlocks, spellbook mcguffins, bumbling himbos, and take no shit, hilarious redheaded (K)Cassandra's.

To this day she still drives that car. Unfortunately (because the goverment is stupid) She had to replace the steering wheel and licence plate, she auctioned them both off not to long ago, along with her first wig she ever wore. I'm so glad you got to see this nick, I hope you see the sequel " Elvira Haunted Hills" from 2001 and she has a series called Elvira's Movie Macabre (which is literally her movie react with comments show) it's on dvd and shutter. I recommend the episode where she reacts to Lady Frankenstein because you'll meet Elrick ,Prince of the Dark Her character's son. He's absolutely hilarious and it's a fun episode the entire series is fun, I think she eve reacted to Nosferatu and a few other films you've reacted to also.

This movie came out when I was 9 years old. I didn't get the chance to see it when it first did, but I was 12/13, we got the video cassette for it. The cover was just a cardboard sleeve with her on a stake about to get burned on a white background. It was life-changing for me. I started talking like a goth valley girl for a bit because I wanted to be Elvira so badly. I'm so glad you loved it. A lot of us found our queer identities because of her. Cassandra Peterson is a gift to the world, and I'm so glad you're getting the full Elvira now. OH! And the second movie is a blast too!

Lol grew up on elvira.. I even dressed as her as a kid at 8 years old.. can't believe my parents were so cool with me watching this movie.. I guess my parents were cool lol. And this woman is still gorgeous at 70 years old.. I can't believe it. You should check out her series in shudder.. it's so much fun.. plus the vegas show is a great touch cause she was a vegas showgirl before being elvira, that's why she has an amazing bod.. she still works out a ton to this day and is dating her trainer.. so sweet

Elvira chose a Valley Girl accent to go with her gothic attire. Luckily so. When the actress who played Vampira sued Elvira, Elvira won because even though they had similar costumes , Elvira acted and sounded nothing like Vampira.

One of the two punks was Ken Conaway who was Danny's buddy in GREASE (1978). And a member of the TAXI tv series. Sadly he had a drinking/drug problem and died young.

They took a whole different approach with the sequel, which I think was the right way to do it. Although I have to admit, Mistress of the Dark is better than Haunted Hills with a distance. It's a spoof/ hommage to 1950's / 1960's horror movies like Black Sunday and The Pit and the Pendulum (Barbara Steele is in both of them and maybe, just maybe, she was one of the influences in the creation of the Elvira character, especially in Black Sunday).
