It's sad that out of TV shows, movies and concerts, Elvis said he enjoyed concerts the most and after his concert in Hawaii in May, he wouldn't return to the stage until 1969.
@adrinathegreat3095
@adrinathegreat3095 3 года назад
He also said touring was hard work, whereas movies involved 6 weeks shooting and 3 months vacation and paid more. He was a guy who spent money as fast as he earned it, so chose to go with the easy money. We'd all do the same, there's things I could do for work that I like, but do something else because it pays nearly twice as much, so to maintain my lifestyle I need to do work I'd sooner not be doing. Or I could give up move to a smaller house, catch a bus to work and be happy. We all have choices in Life

He was asked about Anita Wood, he tried to downplay their relationship, he was told by TP to cool the relationship, the same with June JUANICO, before Anita Wood. TP was forever controlling ELVIS'S serious relationships from day one. For his career and image TP required ELVIS to remain unattached, no serious relationships. ELVIS had it tuff all around, his life was never his own. ELVIS did everything he could possibly do to please everyone, and take care of everyone, but never had the time for himself. He unknowingly, was sacrificing his life to please everyone else. He wanted to bless everyone, as he had been blessed, from rags to riches. ElVIS once said, May the LORD Bless You, as He has Blessed Me.✝️♾️❤️ 6-17-22

To date no one has ever managed the press with such Grace.The multitude that loves the man is soothed just listening to his voice when speaking and when singing. So so miss him …. I will never ever understand why these 2 concerts and the one in Hawaii one month later were never filmed. The man was at the absolute zenith of his powers and popularity and these were the only 3 concerts he did in over 10 years.
@RaindropServicesNYC
@RaindropServicesNYC 7 лет назад
Probably a combination of reasons. In those days people weren't always filming everything. Camera's weren't as portable and there had to be a budget for official filming. Colonel Parker might have put a spot to the attempts, possibly. And it was a lot more difficult than nowadays to sneak in a personal camera, which would have required to bring rolls of 8mm film, a light meter and a sound recorder. A lot to carry for someone trying to film a performance unnoticed. But I agree with you. Too bad.

They were still making money selling them on VHS then. I guess that they thought if they filmed it and had it on tv that the VHS would stop selling. Nowadays they are selling it on DVD 's on the internet. I wish it were in stores. Parker is a sorry manager. Elvis says it himself here in February of 1961, that he will have to do a European tour at some point. At 15:25 of the video he talks about wanting to give thanks to all the European countries and people who have recognized him and help make his career what it became. Makes me a little bitter that he never got to tour Europe thanks to his con man Manager Colonel Tom Parker.

well don't blame Elvis , if he could have he would have , we can thank Colonel Parker for that one, he put his foot down , and elvis always resented him Parker was not an american neither an American citizen , he was an illegal Immigrant , a Dutchman and Parker wasn't his name , neither was he a Colonel , he took that name from somewhere

@@gassbaggerwoods5955 I hope it didn't sound like I was blaming Elvis? I would never do that. Colonel dipsh*t is who I meant. I also edited my original post clarifying Colonel Parker as the one to blame so that there would be no doubt as who was to blame.
@gassbaggerwoods5955
@gassbaggerwoods5955 4 года назад
wat a creep The reason Elvis never went to Europe during his career was that Parker would not have been able to get a passport because he wasn't an american citizen but a Duchman without a passport & chanced being deported had he applied Parker would not leave america without Elvis. Elvis only performed in three venues outside the United States all of them in Canada: Toronto, Ottawa & Vancouver, in 1957 a passport wasn't needed. Rumor's Elvis would play overseas for the first time were fuelled in 1974 by a million-dollar bid for an Australian tour Parker ultimately quashed any notions Elvis had of working abroad although Elvis did not push the issue either To cover up Parker's need for questioning in criminal activity feeble excuses were made Parker's claimed security was poor that managers agents etc would inform Elvis of how unusual his contract with Parker was that a lack of venues large enough All of these excuses were given to Elvis when he would show an interest in touring abroad & known to avoid confrontation Elvis would never argue with Parker but he was Desparate to go to Europe he always wondered wat his fans thought of him there as he never went there. He saw all the British groups going to America The Beatles the Rolling Stones also Todd Slaughter from the British Elvis fan club went to Memphis to present him an award & he wanted to thank them in person that was always important to him. In 1974 Elvis wanted a change of manager but Parker talked him out of it why? because Elvis couldn't say no to people he felt obligated he saw Parker had launched the greatest career in the history of entertainment and in later years Elvis thought Parker had lost it he felt he could have been a great Actor he kept saying to Parker Get me a Movie put me in a dramatic role where i can show everyone wat i can do" Parker didn't do it . Elvis got to a point in 1977 where he decided that was it i'm done i'm thru with the Parker im going stop seeing him for a yr i'm going to Hawaii relax rejuvenate, then i'll come back and make a movie as an Actor but not with Parker i'll let him know in September but he died August Parker didn't allow Elvis to perform abroad because he was an illegal immigrant and didn't have a passport So he could not control Elvis. It was not because he could not guarantee Elvis's security,as Priscilla says There were appropriate people who could do it he was only afraid to loose his ownership on Elvis His fear was that meeting new people new cultures,he might open his eyes about his way of managing him Why didn't he ever go to Germany to visit him.? For the same reason.

I have gotten into it pretty deep with some of the most well known Elvis people, who are also huge supporters of the Colonel. He became the top selling artist of all time. I don't like the language of "he could have done so much more" when he did way beyond what anybody else did. Those movies gave us over 300 visuals of songs and videos to accompany them. If the movies sucked to you, so be it. But the musical visuals that came with them, 10 to 15 in each song, were great. For example, how else but those type of movies could the visual for Smokey Mountain Boy have come into place? Those visuals were amazing even by today's standards, the synchronization, the vocals, etc.
