few people alive today were as close to Elvis Presley and spent as much time with him as Estelle Brown of the Sweet Inspirations, these are her memories.
Yes Shonen..I'm with you . .💯you must be SO PROUD of her .🥰I saw her on stage with the S I. And Elvis late nov.69. And invited into a modest hotel room with his family and friends.Priscilla not there..😁he flirted with me but I didn't take advantage of it. Sometimes I do regret some things.😔love that man .💘
1992 This same sweet lady walked into the Christian bookstore I was working in and the first thing I noticed about her was the TCB necklace she was wearing around her neck...I asked her where'd she get the necklace from because only Elvis Presley gave those out..She said yes I used to sing backup for him! That's when I realized who she was! I said it's very nice to meet you! God Bless you! She responded "Thank you God has been good to me!" I didn't want to take up too much of her time so I allowed her to look around our store...She was very sweet and friendly!
James Burton is one of the greatest guitar players of all time. He played with The King but also with many other legends as well. There are many guitar enthusiast or guitar buffs that when you say "James Burton" they say whos that?
Hey Eric, I was 12 when I saw Elvis blow out 4 shows at Madison Square Garden.. I only saw one, and lucky I had the 10 dollars and car fare to see that.. Changed my life forever, and you are dead on.. Not more than 5 minutes into the show, I'm looking all around the stage thinking, 'where is the 2nd drummer, I only see one drummer on the stage.. As great as he is, he took it to another level for the Garden crowd. He was in some kind of supernatural zone..
@@javierserna1000 Ronnie Tutt was a fabulous drummer. My parents saw Elvis at Carbondale Illinois in the mid 70s. My aunt got his scarf at the same concert. I was only 6 when he passed. I still remember it and where I was at. Blew me away. I was numb
The man didn't have a racist bone in his body. He was a great human being that should of never died from that poison so many great singers died from. Thank You miss Estelle bless your Heart.
That story of them singing Gospel after the gig ; eating, joking...I never heard that before. I understand why they loved him now, he was the real deal, such a rare thing. I miss him too a bit more now.
He was the FIRST to tell everyone, I'm Not the King! The King is in Heaven, I'm just an entertainer! He told a group of fans that one night who had bought balcony seats and held a banner reading YOU'RE THE KING.
She had no reason to. She had her part in writing history together with Elvis. In just about all of his legendary performances from 1969-1977 she played a pivotal part. Majestic!
Very true, and all the inspirations only had good things to say about him, along with pretty much everyone who worked with him or knew him. He was a great humanitarian, one of a kind, God blessed the man.
A great tribute to the man Elvis really was. We all loved him for his humility and love for ALL people as well as his amazing talent. Thanks Estelle! Elvis definitely made the world a better place!
@@nonamous2098 During Woodstock in 1969 a kind of a squad was formed by members of the police and the population . They were formed as a go between the crowd and the police. Guess what 400,000 attended and no incidents. They solved any grievances that would come up because they were considered neutral. I believe if such a group can be formed between the authorities and the rioters these riots/protests would be a lot more peaceful.
What a lovely lady sharing her memories of Elvis with us. I could listen to her soft, comforting voice all day long. Elvis chose a fantastic group of singers and musicians who will all have their own treasured memories of him.
Hello Andrey, I've often wondered if Elvis' music made over to Russia, or more specifically, into the Soviet Union. Is knowledge of him something that came about after the cold war ended or was his music available during the 'Soviet years' as well? I'm not sure what of 'western culture' was available during those years (both music and TV/Movie wise), but I find that to be very interesting to learn about.
I'm so glad I came over this video I have been defending Elvis Presley's love for African Americans he never said a bad thing about us words and actions prove this in this video rest in peace
My grandparents were his neighbors as kids. She confirms what my grandmother said about his real personality. I agree! I was honestly shocked that he lived near the black side of town. I left other comments on his new movie trailer. To give folks an idea of how he was.
@@roncipriano8352 Ron, don't know how old you are, but I was born in 1970 and I grew up not only with Elvis' music, but when Hip Hop was growing to be a popular art form in the 80's. Chuck D from Public Enemy, with his ignorant ass, said Elvis was "straight up racist the sucker was simple and plain". In my opinion that turned off a whole generation of fans and filled their heads with BS. I watched it happen, thankfully, I was already an Elvis fan and knew that the racism crap was BS! Only now with the many many reaction videos that have been put out, has a whole new generation of fans discovered what Elvis really was and is!
He was racist ( a lot of racists have a few blk friends) but he knew blacks were/are the most talented peeps on earth. He went to blk clubs, churches, back up singers to steal their style. Facts 💯💯💯
@@musicluver94293 Elvis wasn’t racist. That shoe shine quote was false. It’s been disputed already. Elvis donated to black charities, bought his black maids cars and houses and BB King is quoted as saying, “I grew up in Jim Crow south, I know a racist when I see one. Elvis wasn’t a racist”.
The best thing America gave the world was and is Elvis Presley! God bless him and his parents. Never forgotten, forever loved. A true legend!😍❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Beautiful lady! Black folks have always had a special place in Elvis’ heart, especially his faithful girls. He stood up for his girls in his first concert in the Astro Dome’s Rodeo. He was a really good man.
I love listening g to Elvis P still today. He was a hugely talented man with good looks, kind and generous what was and is so difficult to live this man. I watched and play his old concerts and I so very much enjoy him his looks singing he is and was the full entire package. May he Rest In Peace🙏💋❤️
Racist people think everyone is racist. A thief can point out another thief in a heart beat. I never about skin colors or racism unless someone shows me they are. Someone once told I rather hang out with someone black like MLK then someone white like Charles Manson. Color has no meaning what so ever character does good and bad in all colors
@@delonhinrichs3974 unfortunately racism never died it is Alive and well! If only racism never existed blacks and whites would be treated equally & fairly
Estelle I met you 2 times and had sent you gifts from Istanbul Turkey with Portia's help. Hope you are doing well. I love you. Thanks for everything. Love from Istanbul.
I have always been a fan of Elvis. Elvis never forgot his humble beginnings. His beautiful voice made him rich and famous but I will always believe that in his heart he was always a poor country boy who loved his family, God and his friends.
I was only 6 when He died and I cried so hard. To this day I still cry. My grandma loved him and that’s where I got to know who he was. Long live Elvis Presley and RIP my grandma ✝️❤️🔥✝️
I hope that Estelle knows that some of us notice the backup singers. It seems that Elvis had a lot of respect for them. Thanks for sharing your memories with us Estelle!
I am from East Africa. My first real introduction to American music as a child was through the Elvis record collection of a school friend. We had our own little informal Elvis fan club
Thank you for this story. It brought tears to my eyes. You hear so many people want to rip on him for no good reason at all. And to hear one of his inspirations talk about him with such fondness just warms the heart. It seems like EVERYONE around him wanted a quick buck off of him except his backup. Thank you, thank you. I always loved the talent, and now I do the person! 2 add ons: 1st I'm sorry, but from the young picture which beautiful young lady were you. 2nd: I grew up in a very strict Christian household but mom let me listen and fall in love with Elvis. I didn't know how to do the twist and mom did from her younger years. She stood up to the radio when he came on, told me to get up. She told me to slightly bend, point my toe and act like I putting out a cigarette. Start it by the beat of ba ba ba thow out my rt arm ba ba bab throw out my left. Twist my fanny , use my arrm like I was using atowel to dry my fanny while putting out that cigarette! It actually worked! Couldn't believe my Christian mother taught me the first dance I learned to the rebel, Elvis Presley!
Over the years I've heard many people say how decent and fair minded Elvis was. Respectful, brought up right. And that he was not a Bigot or Racist. He must have been a special Man. I was driving to visit my grandmother when I heard it on the news that Elvis had died. Tho I was not a huge Elvis Fan, I felt sadness for his family, friends and Fans. His Death really Rocked the world. May Elvis Presley Rest In Peace.
Elvis was one of these success stories in the entertainment business who didn't have to sell his soul over to the dark side to keep his voice in tune., sure though, sometimes new ideas were difficult to come by. He was deeply God fearing. It really saddens me that he didn't live to enjoy his Grandchildren, the two younger girls are just like Gladys, his mother. May The Good Spirit rest upon Elvis forever.
What a precious woman! He was from the South, where people respected each other, (contrary to what you've heard). He was a gentleman and THE most beautiful human being God ever created!
I went on vacation down south as a child, in the early 60s. I was surprised how respectful and gentle people seemed to each other across the races. Nothing like I expected. It was awful though to see different drinking fountains and doors for people according to their skin color. That was very shocking for me. My Grandpa told me to keep my mouth shut about it. He didn't want us to get lynched.
This made me cry. He truly broke barriers and didn’t care what people thought. He’s one in a million and I wish he was a live to go see him. R.I.P to the King Elvis.
He genuinely loved people ❤️ He never treated them like he was better than them. And he didn't like being referred to as "The King". He would say "there's only one King", referring to our Lord and Savior.
Great Tribute to Elvis. I love it. I’ve been binge watching Sweet Inspirations videos all over RU-vid. Great to hear how the girls felt about Elvis and their time with him.
That's the nicest thing I've ever heard about Elvis. I loved him, and he loved us, and we knew it. I mean, imagine working with the biggest star in the world, and being made to feel like he was no different than your brother. That whole situation has the potential for being nerve wracking, but Elvis didn't let it happen that way. He made them comfortable.
What a beautiful reflection of the late, great Elvis Presley! Treating all people the same. Being kind to his singers. Not a racist bone in his body. Miss you EP. From South Africa. 😢🇿🇦🎸
She's the last of the Sweet Inspirations that backed Elvis (other than Cissy Houston), but Cissy only worked with the group in 1969 with Elvis. The other three backed him in every concert throughout the '70s. Sad they're all gone now.
Yes, Elvis was great, but those Sweet Inspirations were stunning in their own right. Elvis chose those ladies for a reason, and the reason was obvious.
Estelle you are a true lady, it’s so nice to hear your sincere words that Elvis made you feel relaxed like you were equals which obviously made the music so much sweeter!
I was not much into Elvis but my eldest brother loved many things about Elvis including his college friends. My brother especially loved Elvis singing religious songs and he would sing along to his records, his favourite was "Crying In The Chapel". R.I.L Elvis and my Brother.
I like the fact that he ran his own rehearsals. Most of these guys have a music director do all of that work for them and aside of the actual soundchecks and shows they never really see the star. He was involved with his entire group. Respect for that.
The 1970 (and other) rehearsal footage that's out there is awesome and I can only imagine how good the gospel session would be. There's good footage of the ladies backing him in the Twenty Days and Twenty Nights rehearsal footage fro, August 4th 1970
Esther, it really isn't your fault! The disgusting lie told about Elvis - although debunked in the 1950s - just continued to be spread by haters! It takes a good kind heart and a good soul to admit they were wrong. There is OVERWHELMING evidence that supports his love and admiration for the black community - he came from there - that was Elvis' community growing up dirt poor in Tupelo, surrounded by his neighbours and friends who supported him, no one there saw colour. Look up Sam Bell - one of his closest buddies growing up.
Thank you Estelle for loving Elvis 🙏💖 as much as we do! The Inspections were so good also! Elvis knew talent when he heard it!! Loved all his back up singers!!💔😪RIP, all.
