Here is the full version of the opening song to Fire Emblem Engage, with the song's interpretations in the video.
Since the songs lyrics does resemble a lot of the DLC Fell Xenologue plot and characters, I chose to use it's main characters as the thumbnail! :3

Hello, big thank you to anyone passing by! This song is full of references to the main game and the new DLC path Fell Xenologue! I've marked the words who have one, in each verse! In case anyone is curious about what these words exactly mean, please turn on the subtitles! The meanings will then be presented in the video below, and rightly timed! Edit: Also, thank you all so much for the support I got recently! This video is slowly but steadily growing and I'm so glad to see it! Definitely motivates me to continue making more lyrics videos in the future!

I want to believe that Fire Emblem Engage is a game that symbolizes Fire Emblem as a whole. It’s tales of many legendary heroes being lights to the worlds where they reside in and facing the darkness that consumes those worlds. If I had to make comparison with Engage it is essentially The Breath of the Wild of the Fire Emblem series. I’m sure that’s a stretch but if you look at BOTW the fact that they consider all of the Legend of Zelda games before BOTW to be stories from long ago is pretty intriguing to say the least.

@@Tdull-tv1dsinteresting thoughts! It definitely resembles all Fire Emblem games in some way cause of all the Emblem characters! It's also an anniversary game, so your speculation definitely makes sense.

This is the 4Kids opening of all time. This is like...even more 4Kids than the original 4Kids Pokemon opening. It's so 4kids it's overtaken 4kids. 4Kids from its place in Godawful Dubbing Company Heaven is looking down and going "Dude, chill. That much cheese will do stuff to your digestive system, I know from experience." Obviously I think it's the greatest thing ever. 1000/10 Best Opening Ever, would headbang again. 4Kids anime was the shit I grew up on and if I am cringe for that, then I'm cringe, but I'm free.

This is fairly late but there's one more meaning behind the first set of lyrics for the 2nd portion. They reference the titles the recruitable 4 Winds have in their character endings! Zelestia is "Loving Leader", Gregory is "Fading Scar", and Madeline is "Loving Heart." All of the references throughout the song also exist in Japanese in case people were wondering

Jam-packed with references. "Rise from a thousand years ago, shaking off a hazy dream" alludes to not necessarily Alear waking up but trying to recall a memory from back then. "Meet the Flower who cares for everyone" referencing Céline (Gentle Flower increased item healing passive), "with the snow that sweeps across the field" referencing Elusia's invasion(s. I really love how catchy it is too

@@tjstarzz9231 A month late, but i think "Meet the flower who cares for everyone" is for Alfred, "The rising force of blackened steel" is for Diamant, "Fighting in the dessert sands" is for Timerra and "Meet the snow that sweeps across the field" is for Ivy, they are the 4 main lords of the regions and those lines are synced to the characters in the opening.
@skeletonwar4445
@skeletonwar4445 5 месяцев назад
@@oisin2696 Rather than the main lords, I think it refers to the regions and their respective royal emblem. Since it'd be kinda weird to only refer to one of the two royals of each nation. Meet the flower (Firene) who cares for everyone (Celica) The rising force (Roy) of blackened steel (Brodia) Fighting (Ike) in the desert sands (Solm) Meet the snow (Elusia) that sweeps across the field (Lyn) EDIT: Also because if not there, those 4 emblems don't have any reference anywhere else in the song, which would be a bit weird.

Emblem Engage is a great Opening theme for Engage and I love it just as much as I do with Edge of Dawn from Three Houses. So much that I made a full analysis with how it ties to the main Story and the Fell Xenologue, and Alear’s character most of all. This will contain spoilers obviously. ⁃ Rise from a thousand years ago. Shaking off a hazy dream This represents Alear waking up from their thousand year slumber after the prologue. So if this doesn’t confirm that the prologue is just a dream, I don’t know what does. It’s a hazy dream because the Prologue doesn’t play out exactly like Alear was shown. It could also represent them starting off with no memories. As for the Fell Xenologue, it could symbolize Rafal using his power to bring Nel back to life within the Thousand Year timeframe of their world after Nel sacrificed herself to free Rafal from Sombron’s curse. Plus Nel does has a sleep hobby if her supports with Timerra are any indication… ⁃ Meet the flower who cares for everyone. The rising force of blackened steel. Fighting in the desert sand Obviously, these lyrics represents the country’s Alear would on his journey as well as representing the Emblem Rings they are meant to protect because of their Invocation quotes. Surprisingly enough, we recruit Ivy before Timerra, but we don’t truly go through the Kingdom of Elusia until Chapter 18 (but we tackled the Cathedral first in Chapter 10). First we have Firene and Celica. A country filled with flowers and good natured people. With Céline (Celica’s first synced unit) being a kind hearted soul who just wants what’s best for her country and its people. Next Brodia and Roy. The “rising” is probably a reference to Roy’s Engage Skill, which boosts level and increases stats as a result. And just as Roy would have to “rise up” at a young age to lead his army, Diamant (future king of Brodia and Roy’s first user) would have grow to be king quicker than he could have anticipated because King Morion would die sooner than he would have liked. And finally, Solm and Ike. I like how the lyrics are just that simple. I’m sure Ike would like that. It’s basically Timerra (Future Queen of Solm and Ike’s main user) fighting bandits across Solm in her travels to keep her country safe. Ike has also fought alongside a Princess in Path of Radiance (Elincia). ⁃ Meet the snow that sweeps across the field. The light and dark restore our skies. Tonight, heal the wounds and learn from yesterday The last line here is obviously representing Ivy as the sugar and ice girl from her cold country of Elusia with the Sweeping Across line representing Lyn. Lyn also needed to learn the value of trust from her friends Hector and Eliwood similarly to Lyn who struggles with such things due to her background. Although these next lines do hint at the Sacred Twins (Eirika and Ephiram), as well as Micaiah and Byleth respectively, these lines could also represent Alear and Veyle’s stories. The Fell and The Divine title of Chapter 22 has one representation of Alear as the Divine Dragon and Veyle as the Fell Dragon working together to save the world similar to the Sacred Twins. And despite the Secondary Royals not having longer lasting plot armor than the primary royals, they are still a sibling team working together to save Elyos. Sibling relationships play a huge role in Engage’s story. To heal the wounds and learn from yesterday also could mean a lot of things: 1. Alear taking 1000 of years to heal from their fight against Sombron and eventually learning about their past. 2. Veyle healing from the abusive scars that were dealt by Sombron and Zephia, or her learning about her evil self’s actions and trying to make amends. 3. Finally, Alear having to learn from his mistakes in Chapter 10 and being forced to give them up after the final chapter so that they can learn to walk on their own two feat when the time comes. On topics not related to Alear and Veyle, Yunaka also a character who is trying to overcome her past and find new meaning in her life. Guess who her starting Emblem is? And Hortensia (who wields Byleth in our 2nd and 3rd fights with her) also is healing from the loss of her father. Hortensia was also a student at her academy. And finally, learning to accept Veyle for who she is now versus the evil self that laughed at her father’s death. ⁃ You calling out their names. Crossing paths again. Twelve are coming through. Bless us from another place, do you remember me Alear and Sombron uses Invocations to summon the Emblems and use their powers. The difference is that Alear would in the final battle call out the names of all of the Emblems in the final battle. Sombron treats the Emblems as pawn as his power strips them if their free will. Crossing paths again could represent Alear and Marth meeting each other again after 1000 years. Saving the first six Emblems after they are taken from us. And my personal representation, Alear and Veyle being reunited. The last two lines are exclusive to the 12 Emblems of course and how they represent heroes from previous games. We see visages of the world they came from in their Paralogues. And finally, Marth’s line at the beginning and the end, that Alear and Marth will meet again as long they remember him and their fellow Emblems. ⁃ Memories of red and blue. Reigniting you. Bare your fangs and roar. Free yourself forever more here and now The rest of these lyrics represent Alear most of all, such as “memories of red and blue,” both his past memories as the Fell Dragon transitioning into becoming a full Divine Dragon after becoming an Emblem. So that could be alluding the “Reigniting you” line from Lucina’s Invocation. The Emblem Invocations here are representing Lucina, Corrin and Leif. Lucina’s line is reigniting Alear’s Hope in Chapter 11, which they do for Veyle in Chapter 22, Alear and Veyle are dragons baring their fangs at Sombron and Zephia, and are freeing them selves of their abusers forever. ⁃ Emblem Engage: Cue Alear turning into Shadow the Hedgehog Lol 😂 ⁃ Bonds of fire connect us. Love provides, protects us. Like the heroes from the pages. Like the stories of the ages The last lines here represents Alear, if their Innovation wasn’t an obvious hint that they weren’t going to be an Emblem. As well as Sigurd and Marth. The three most plot important Emblems in this game. Love provides, protect us. Sigurd is the dad of this army and formerly wielded by Lumera, Alear’s adopted mother. It’s Lumera’s love that would free Alear from Sombron’s grip. Providing that love to Veyle is what she needed as well to finally help her take control of her life. Like the heroes of the pages as Alear would join the ranks of their fellow Fire Emblem lords and Emblems, as well as the stories of their Paralogues as they tell Alear their stories through their trials. - Bonds of hope unite us. Shining on to guide us. Skies above embrace the beauty. The time is now for you and me It’s through Alear’s bonds with everyone, be it Lumera, his army, the Emblems and Veyle that allows Alear to become the hero that would defeat Sombron and save the world. Shining on is Marth’s Invocation that appears in this opening last. He is the first Fire Emblem lord and Alear’s most trusted ally. Alear and all of their allies will protect the skies of Elyos and that is their Engagement. Whether it’s Alear and Marth, Alear and Veyle, Alear and his army, the entire army you bring to the final battle and the Emblems, or whoever Alear engages with the Pact Ring.

Emblem Engage Font. ⁃ Though it led us to a new today. Scars of pain can only fade away. Healing winds are blowing through The pain from the Fell Xenologue needs to heal knowing all that has happened. First Rafal heals Nel similarly to how Lumera would heal Alear prior to the events of the main game. While the remaining members of the Four Winds must overcome the lost of their family and team member: Alt. Mauvier. Speaking of the remaining winds, they have to adjust to life in the main Elyos where they will be judged for being similar to their evil counterparts: the Four Hounds. They also need to recover from their Mauvier’s death through their support with our Mauvier, while Veyle must overcome the PTSD of Zephia and Griss’ abuse, as well as her loss of Marni with Madeline. Night of shadows cast reminding us. Of heroes seen in dreams of past again. Advise us with wise counsel and acumen This goes back to Alear and their relationships with the Emblems as a whole. From Alear’s dreams of fighting with his friends and the Emblems in the prologue, to reminding the gamers of the existence of the Emblems being heroes from their past games, and their goal in the story to help Alear grow into their as a hero through their experiences. This time, the Invocations used in the lyrics are Tiki, who suffers from nightmares, and Soren, the strategist of the Greil Mercenaries. On side note, the “healing winds” may have been alluding to Soren’s flare skill, which heals damage dealt using Tomes, like his signature Weapon: Rexcalibur. Seven are slumbering. Flames are flickering. In this ruined world. A promise to uphold, will you remember me? This refers to the Seven Bracelets obviously, but the interesting thing about the lyrics here is this: the 12/13 Emblem Rings are deemed as “lights” in the first quarter of this opening,(more specifically the Japanese version) while the 7 Bracelets are treated as “Flames.” Fire provides light as well, as seen in SSBU where Mario grabs a flame that becomes Sora’s Kingdom Key and brings light back to Smash Bros. On another note regarding flames is Edelgard being among the Seven Bracelets. It just fits so perfectly with Flame Gambits as well being the Flame Emperor and the bearer of the Crest of Flames, similar to Byleth. The Flames are flickering is likely the Bracelets being Fell Emblems and are forced to continue fighting in a war of the dead world that is Alternate Elyos. And while the “promise” to uphold could alluded to Alear and their relationship with Lumera and Marth, this the context of the DLC, all of the Emblems promise to meet Alear again in the future, and that’s what happened. Rafal also promised to return to the Main Elyos with Alear and the winds once Nel is revived and she forgives him, which is exactly what happened. Promises play a huge role in Alear’s character. Under the shrouded moon, Silver gleams anew. Clouds are soaring high. Summon words across the sky, heed our call I’m not exactly sure what the lyrics mean by under the shrouded moon, so this is going to be speculation only. Given that the Fell Xenologue ends with Alear meeting Nel and Rafal under a sunny clear sky, the “shoruded moon” most likely represents the exact opposite of our safe main Elyos. “Silver gleams anew” could refer to Alear giving the remaining survivors of the Alternate Elyos the last chance needed to survive their post apocalypse world. And finally, Camilla and Veronica’s invocations. Camilla grants units the ability to fly when Engaged, but maybe it could also represent Alt. Alear (in Heaven most likely) requesting our Alear to save Rafal and the others. A request from the great beyond. And “heed our call…” I mean, this is self explanatory: Veronica can summon Fire Emblem characters from other worlds, similar to Alear through the power of the Emblems (coincidental, I’m sure). But more importantly, it’s Nel and “Nil” summoning Main timeline Alear through the well to aid their cause. And the “Invocations” are obviously Alear summoning the Emblems to their side. “Emblem Eternal...” Emblem Alear’s activation quote in contrast to the other Emblems needing to Engage. Also representing Alear being the sole Emblem alive by the end of the game and the only one with a physical form. Bonds of love, emboldened. When the Emblems have woken. But the face is in the mirror. Twin reflections growing clearer Using Hector and Chrom and Robin’s Invocations, it’s Alear and Veyle receiving love from their families and each other that gives them strength and courage to face their hardships. Alear needed Lumera’s love and support to free them from Sombron’s control and the courage to continue fighting without her when she dies. This is what Alear does for Veyle in order to help her fight her evil self and face Zephia and Sombron. Marth’s Awakening gives Alear the power and courage they need to save Framme and Clanne. Lyn and Lucina gave Alear hope after the events of Chapter 10 and 11 and the Emblems using their Miracle to revive Alear and the Emblem. As for the “mirror,” it can be many things. How Nel and Rafal foil to Alear and Veyle, the fact that we visit and Alternate and destroyed Elyos, and how the Alternate Royals can meet and fight their alternate selves, etc. Bonds of light to lead us. A new dawn to greet us. Dragonstone as red as ruby. You and I for all eternity The last Innovation refers to the The Three Houses Lord (Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude). The Emblem Rings are all main characters and lords that lead their armies to victory, with Alear growing to do the same thing. The new dawn is what Alear fights for in the final battle against Sombron. It’s both bright out when Alear bids farewell to the Emblems in the ending of the main story, and greets the Fell Twins in the ending of the Fell Xenologue. The Dragonstone that Veyle had being Alear’s as well as Nel’s Dragonstone being the representation of their connection. And even when Alear’s Dragonstone is destroyed and Nel’s is remade, Alear and Veyle and Nel and Rafal’s bond is revived stronger than ever. Fighting beside you is the greatest honor I've ever known. Standing together so we never have to battle alone, As we did that day of reckoning. The Emblems’ duty is to fight and protect Elyos. They would be grateful to fight alongside the people that protected their power and use them for good. This is most especially the case with Alear and their relationship with Emblem Marth. The other two lyrics also could represent Alear no longer being alone like they were when they were under Sombron’s rule. That or the “day of reckoning” being the events of Chapter 11 and 22. When Sombron tries to close the portals to prevent Alear and the others from using the Emblems, but it’s everyone’s faith in Alear that allows them to draw on the Emblems one last time to face Sombron. Like the wisdom of the sages. Like the emblems of the ages. Basically an abridged version of the initial Chorus. As stated before, the wisdom of the Emblems and everything Alear learns leads to them becoming an Emblem too. Or maybe they are just referring to Lindon somehow lol 😂. Woven in to all our memories, The Fire Emblem burns eternally And finally, these lyrics right hit really hard. Not just as a fan of Alear and Fire Emblem Engage, but as a new Fire Emblem fan. The lyrics were foreshadowing to Alear (the Avatar of this game) being the Fire Emblem all along. Engage was meant to be an anniversary game to Celebrate Fire Emblem as a whole similar to Awakening. It’s thanks to Awakening we even have this game (and Fates and Three Houses (Hopes) in the first place. It’s the fans of the Franchise that keeps the “Fire” in Fire Emblem going. And even though the Emblems are gone (for now), Alear will keep their and Lumera’s legacy going through the bonds they have forged. Alear is the last living Emblem in Elyos, but their flame is still going to provide love and protect Elyos. Alear is the Fire Emblem of Engage.
