I was expecting it to just roar to life after 1 rev instead of 3 revs and then revving to life.

That starter was so sounding like it’s dead

It has a slow cranking system on it to prevent hydrolock damage. If the engine stops because of water in the cylinder, the starter fuse will blow when the full current is sent to the starters.

Yeah get hit with that 72000volt EMD 16-645 2 stroke magneto and lets se you servive!

72000 volts and 5 amps can kill!

Its takes 480v from the primary and makes over 72000v from the secondary CDI system

We occasionally get CMs in at work, but I'm not in loco service anymore, so can't help there. The Cummins motor is very quiet though, sounds nothing like the EMDs!

@@CPAlburtisRailfan Cranking without starting is just as hard on them. Maybe look into how this system works instead of being that annoying armchair engineer.
