If somebody did not mention already, this is actually Universal Amphitheatre, Universal City, California from August 30, 1998. The final performance until the 2010 reunion in London was 4th & B, San Diego, California on August 31, 1998. There were no performances by the band in September of 1998.
Fantastic, so good to hear this. Saw this tour at the Gorge at George Wa., Jethro Tull opening.Last of 12 shows of theirs I saw coast to coast. Sure miss them
Don't know what the hell I was thinking skipping this tour. Probably one of their best tours. I think I was und the impression that they were an opening band and they deserved better. As one of their biggest fans, I am ashamed.
I also saw them when they opened for Jethro Tull. Tull is a great band, but I honestly feel sorry for any band that has to take the stage after the immortal Emerson, Lake & Palmer !
This was actually the second to last show of their careers, with all three of them together (excluding High Voltage). The final show was just north of San Diego - I was at that final show. Absolutely awesome !!! And that final show just north of San Diego ? They were the only act, they didn't open for anyone (as it should always and forever be).
I am pretty sure this was the show I mentioned below, with Jethro Tull, after listening to Lucky Man. Towards the end of the song, when Keith hits that bass note on the Moog, it shook the whole place and you can hear the crowd react. It was so great.
I took my then 9yr old son to the ELP/Tull concert (he fell for ELP when he was 5) and when Keith hit that ultra-low note at the end of Lucky Man...you could see the reaction of the tone spread through the crowd from the front to back like an inexorable wave. One of coolest things I've ever seen.
The 1998 Universal Amphitheatre show was on 8/30/98, and there was a show in San Diego the following night (@ 4th & B) which was actually the final show until the 2010 High Voltage performance.
@@dhalgrentv7157 4th & B was indeed the next night....August 31st.... we were there front row..for my birthday... shook Keith & Greg's hands.. Humphrey's was 96..we went there too..followed them at every concert we could drive to from LA..... LAs Vegas.. Irvine.. etc.. wish they were still here....RIP Keith RIP Greg
@@jusstutube2 The Humphrey's show was in 1997, a few days after their show at the Universal Amphitheater. I still have my VIP access pass for the Humphrey's show. The following year they and Dream Theater opened for Deep Purple at the Universal Amphitheater. They played their last concert as a band (until their 40th year reunion at High Voltage) the following day on August 31, 1998 at 4th & B in San Diego.

Nah, simple, you put the duration in hours, minutes and seconds sepparating with two points (:) RU-vid translates that automatically as time placer. Every one do that. Try it yourself! Greetings. Thanks for the upload!
I would have liked to have seen this tour but I had started a new job that month (currently my present company I still work for) and it was impossible to get time off. Weren’t they sandwiched between Dream Theater and Deep Purple on this tour? Those bands are good but for me, nothing was like ELP. Awesome performance! Tarkus ‘98’ was incredible. The potential for that sadly aborted album was there for a great effort.
Great concert and great quality. If this is in Universal City, then the correct date is August 30, 1998. On September 25, 1998 they actually played Bayreuth, Germany.
This is actually was AUGUST 30,1998 , second to last ELP show,San Diego California was the last live date til High Wire 2021 It was where the Welcome back my friends 3 album set was recorded , the boys played there many times Have a blast from the past see if you remember the ELP concerts you went to I had the great luck of seeing Greg and meeting him at the Concert for Sara (Ann Wood) series in Albany NY at channel 10ABC studios and seeing them 7-7-77 at MSG section J 16th row in the orchestra elparchive.com/elpdates.htm
+philosopher2king The trio stopped playing until 1996 mainly because the hand status of Keith and Carl. That year some Black Moon tracks were played but no In the Hot Seat tracks, and 1997 was pure classics. This set features an unedited and cancelled track called Crossing the Rubicon that later became ending theme of Godzilla Final Wars
I remember seeing ELP at what was then called the Universal Amphitheater around this time. It was a show with Jethro Tull, ELP opened. I wonder if this could be the same concert I was at.
I saw these two in Moline. Tull had to go first as a member had some family emergency. Great show except for some a**hole behind was making fun of ELP when they were on. If he was there to see Tull, he should have left. The only time I ever was at a live event and wanted to punch someone.
I would of Kicked the Shit Out Of Him after Ther Show, I would Not Want to be kicked out.......Parking Lot Waste Job ! Benny The Bouncer On The Looose !
If any UK based ELP fan guitarist/vocalists who can play & sing Greg's parts would like to get together and have a go then please message me here via RU-vid. I have a lot of their numbers sorted on keyboards and also have a drummer waiting..! Hope to hear from some of you soon... Raffy.
