Emily Bear (age 16) & John Miles performing All By Myself (Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto 2) at Night of the Proms, Belgium TV Special in 2017 with the Antwerp Philharmonic, conducted by Alexandra Arrieche.
She absolutely made history with that recording with the Santa Fe Orchestra. If George Gershwin and Oscar Levant had access to Email, they would have told her how they enjoyed it. What an absolute jewel!
You might also enjoy her other version of Rhapsody In Blue from Kishwaukee, Wisconsin. Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_vVxTQcnkdc.html
Cried all the way through two of my favorite pieces of music = WOW! Emily is a joy to watch reminding me of an old saying: "If your heart is happy let your face know." Thank you Emily. I pray that God continue to bless you this day, and all your days.
This was an absolute joy to watch. Emily is definitely in her element, and she is so mesmerizing to watch -- her technical skills and her huge smile. Wow! ♥
Emily, I've never seen you looking so happy as you did on the various NOTP videos from 2017. You were clearly enjoying yourself immensely. What I really loved was the way you took Eric Carmen's song and re-Rachmaninoff'd it with the intro to the first movement and other elements of the second movement throughout the performance by John Miles, which was pretty great itself. I hope your career goes on being so enjoyable! Your talent for composing, playing and arranging just shines through in everything you do.
Outstanding performance by all. It was my first introduction to Emily. She’s amazingly talented and beautiful to boot. Also enjoyed John’s performance. He has an excellent voice.
Soft piano ballads, jazz combo's, classical music, crossover, pop, film music, Broadway, you're just EXCELLING in every genre of music. Beautiful blend of classical and pop here. Keep going with your gut instinct, because it gives us beautiful music in any genre! (pretty sure this is a Dutch (NL) TV special, because the kro ncrv is a Dutch broadcaster 😉)
The Beauty that Just Lights Up Emily's Face as She Plays is Just So Awesome... watching her Enjoyment with Every Precious Key Stroke... Brilliance & Magical Yumminess... 🌟❤🌟❤🌟❤🌟❤ Her fingers are like little Angel's running Across the Keys... 👌
Absolute brilliant piano performance. I've played this many times on piano & it's quite emotional to play but so powerful everytime. His voice..breathtaking ❤❤well done guys xxx
Absolutely magical ! Just now discovering the beautiful talented Emily Bear ! Amazing to see her all grown up and doing what she does best after seeing her play at 5 years old which is when I started to play to but never got lessons due to some unfortunate events in life but I still do have fun playing and making videos ! God Bless you Emily Bear 🐻 💖🎹
What can I say. Just a wonderful performance by everyone. Emily is absolutely stunning and she is such a joy to watch!! So much talent at such a young age.🌹🥰
I loved this song . growing up as a teenager you have so much emotions in you. now being an adult I know I was never by myself. God had my hand . still does.
LOVE seeing that smile when she plays! Takes me back to when I used to play at that age and I really miss it! Keep it up! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
This video was my introduction to Rachmaninoff. I had never intentionally sat down before and listened to his music, and one night I was scrolling through some Emily Bear stuff and came across this. I immediately was arrested by the chords at the beginning, the absolutely beautiful introduction, and the look of pure joy on her face while playing. I replayed this over and over again in awe and then found Rach piano concerto 2 from this. The next year I made it into my university’s Symphony orchestra on flute and we played Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with an amazing concert pianist /professor. I’m currently learning his Melodie in E major on piano, and I was able to hear his beautiful cello sonata in a recital I played in this past semester. I absolutely adore Rachmaninoff now!
What a beautiful woman. Exquisite playing (though some phrasing was unusual). Great vocals. If you don’t love Rachmaninov’s music you don’t love life. Loving Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No 2 as I do. I failed all these years that this song was based on it. I need to come out from under my rock sometimes.
What a wonderful production. Much of Eric Carmen's solo songs were based on his classical piano schooling early in his life. I was at Charlotte High School in Rochester, NY in the 1970s when the Raspberries came out. I still remember buying their first self-titled "Vinyl" album with the "Scratch and Sniff" sticker on the front. Yes, if you scratched it, it smelled like Raspberries! They had a lot of great songs but my two favorites were, "I Can Remember," and "If You Change Your Mind." I had lost a high school sweet heart back then, and it seemed every one of Eric's words resonated with the feelings I was going through. After Eric left the band for his solo career in the late 1970s, I believe it was the Summer of 1975, I saw the remaining band with Wally Bryson on lead guitar, doing a show at the Hilton High School gymnasium in Hilton, NY. The Raspberries were Great with Eric and Eric had many hits alone and it was great they re-united in the later years to do great shows together again. Thanks for a Great song, Thanks Eric, Thanks Raspberries for Great memories... ♥✝🙏
Emily Bear!! Where have you been all of these years?! Please go back to the classics!! You are a composer/pianist first. Love you, and love your Bridgerton the Musical!!
Well now we know the truth: It's written by this Russian guy named Rahmaninov, not by Eric Carmen ... and we got to know Miss Emilys heartwarming shy and charming smile. It was a pleasure to listen to.
Eric Gave this to Generations from here and beyond, inside and out of the classical community. By simply creating lyrics, subtle yet brilliant. I think that qualifies as a co-write, which is what this!
I would prefer to hear her play the concerto, one of the greatest in the repertoire, straight through, but I am enjoying this popular derivation, as well.
A beautiful smile, all the way thru the piece...and you did the whole she-bang with NO SHEET-MUSIC in front of you !!! All that, plus you directed the singer, too. WOW !!! What a tallent. Keep going girl! Just watch out for people that will try to hurt you or exploit you or get you onto drugs! The music industry has an UGLY SIDE, I hope you never experience !!! You're in my prayers honey!
Came here after hearing Emily play for Keyscape which brought a tear to my eye. she is delightful here but it's way too cheesy for me with the vocals. Feel like I am a Crown casino cabaret night 😆
I remember a classical music snob denigrating All By Myself as a disgrace to Rachmaninov. I take precisely the opposite view. All By Myself led me to Rachmaninov which turned out to be one of the greatest musical discoveries of my life, with the second Piano Concerto being the favorite piano piece I have yet to encounter (sorry Chopin). I honestly wish there were more who work in pop music that would take Eric Carmen’s lead and incorporate classical melodies into contemporary music. God knows that modern music could use an upgrade.
