I really admire her ability to use the lower half of the bow. Not many can do so and still get such a smooth attack. This is really one of the best examples I've seen that illustrates the difference between Appalachian and Texas Style fiddle music. Texas fiddlers have gone off the deep end as far as I'm concerned. But the Appalachian fiddlers stay true to their roots while still expressing their own individuality. And without having to resort to what I call "Histrionics." Bravo! Reminds me of my Fiddle Teacher: Arvil Freeman.
Amazing skill and great performance, sounding like two fiddlers playing from just one! She clearly enjoys playing it as much as we do hearin' it. This style of two fidder parts at once seems to be her signature. I see Emily has quite a reputation at Clifftop and a number of appearances on videos too. See the 2009 Clifftop Fiddle Contest Finals video for more from her.
Hey I was going to ask if the 'dots' for this tune was available but have just discovered that in the settings tab you can slow it down to half speed .... am a happy bunny I can work it out from that thanks again
