Somehow I never realized how hard Trym hits, wow. A lot of endurance to his playing, surprised to see so much power. Amazing. Still one of the best drummers in metal.
I have so many good memories tied to being a young kid obsessed with Anthems in the late 90's. Thank you and all the Emperor horde for such beautiful and timeless music.
I get you but imho it needs no remastering. It sounds perfect as is. Listened to it so many times, the vocals are perfect where they are (understand all of it) and the production is actually amazing. I have the album on a 2023 vinyl picture disk and with the bass boosted a bit on the turntable it is one of the most perfectly produced pieces of music I have ever heard. ❤
@@milosbudincevic715 I absolutely respect your opinion. I guess for me my Black Metal interests started with more for a lack of a better word “better” production. I want to love this album as much as I know I do just sometimes I cant here the vocals in the mix very well and for me it takes away from the atmosphere. I will for sure keep trying to listen to it and maybe I will come around. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
@@shredfactor7 yeah. Exactly. Been listening to it since early 2000s so now I can say that I know all the details well. I still remember hearing it for the first time and to my ears then it sounded like krrrrrrrrrrr. 🤣 Now I know what to expect from the composition. My wife has to listen to it occasionally and even she now knows the songs. She was like “which song goes “abc abc?” 🤔 Me: ,,oh, you mean: upon these seas!” 🤣
Very unique fills, cymbal patterns as well. Snare placement is also very diverse. It is almost like a compting approach. Plus, I really dig the low tuned snare. Sits so much better in the mix than a high- or mid tuned one would, imo.
You've been always my favoutire black metal drummer and a huge inspiration on my own drumming. Killer rehearsal track. Hardly ever been in better shape if I dare say so myself. Awesome!
Trym was always a drummer of quality even in those early years of black metal, other drummers like frost and hellhammer were great too. But if you listen to anthems thoroughly you will discover amazing parts both the slower and the faster ones (if anyone can't appreciate that kind of production, IX equilibrium is another good example) . I'd rather say trym was too technical for his time, in comparison to his contemporary drummers. Edit : Don't forget the three Zyklon records, there's another master Trym there.
Awesome playing, gorgeous kit! Love the way you use the Gibraltar rack, mine is similar set up. Love the cymbal choices, that China is sick! All-around fan-frickin'-tastic!! Subbed and will be enjoying more.
So nice to see Trym again! I hadn't heard anything from him in a while(my fault, perhaps, but so hard to keep up with everyone over the decades, and sooo many great drummers!)..anyhow...his drumming with Emperor was always top-notch...is he back in the fold again, by chance??? Anyhow, great video!!!
I am sure alot of people would disagree but I truly think Emperor should re-record anthem like Exhumed did with Gore Metal. If not the minimum re-master. I think with updated production this album would be even more amazing then it already is. Regardless this is awesome Trym. Cheers from Canada
@@roromoho I rather preferred Dimmu’s re-recording of Stormblast. Mind you I started with Enthroned and was not a fan of their work before that so for me overall the modern production worked. To each there own you know
@@MrOverture1928 I would have loved to have the whole Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk and IX Equilibrium albums played on the Emperial Live Ceremony (Instead of I am the Black Wizards song which is so repetitive and over rated). The sound was perfect on that live album. Both Guitars and drums sounded perfect, and each and every drum sound was perfect, especially kick and snare. (Trym always had great taste regarding snare sound.) Later live sound was never so perfect, though always really enjoyable. Let's dream for two full live recordings of those two masterpieces that are Anthems and Equilibrium. I'd buy both versions, CD and DVD, if such a thing could happen.
The cymbal accentuation master Trym! I suddenly remembered sean reinert playing in the early '90s. I'll go to emperial tattoo after this pandemic is over and get one done by the master himself. Hail Trym. Hail Emperor.
