This is quite amazing. I think, the arrangement very cleverly managed to capture all relevant melodies and voices, distribute them to the various orchestral instruments without changing the prominence of each voice, slightly add to complete the soundscape without altering the overall musical picture. It's properly the one near pierce of music available to demonstrate the beauty of emperor compositions to non metal fans and without haing half of it lost in the production mix.
wow, this is amazing, congrats for that! All the colors, atmosphere and feelings of the song are there, like a soundtrack. With Strength I burn next? :)
Great arrangement amazing feeling for sound coloring/using right instruments for lines/harmony/expresion!!!....maybe some (At the Gates, Dissection, In Flames, Sentenced, Anathema,....)
I expected this to be good but man it's better than I thought! I'd love to hear some Prometheus stuff in this style. The Tongue of Fire maybe. Great job, friend!
Great job! Emperor has some excellent guitar & instrument layering and texturing that may not be apparent in the low production quality. This does a great job showing the complexity in this band's compositions.
Oh.. i think that is time that 'normal people' start to hear about the Emperor.. and this translation is majestic.. epic, it should be a piece of art from Wagner
It's really epic and amazing, as if being in the dimensions of a Harry Potter film I am very sorry why I only discovered this format now keep working with this unique and very inspiring character that you have 🔥🤘
I am deeply impressed! this cover should definitely get more publicity. i think you should send this one to ihsahn and samoth in emperor. This cover deserves to be heard by all dedicated emperor fans. Really beautifully composed and interesting dimensions of the original song. /Mephi
You 100% nailed the vibe of this composition. It's a shame how emperor and other black metal bands considered to be just black metal while emperor is 1000 times more complex and inetrrsting
Thanks! I use Studio One as the main DAW, Kontakt with Spitfire's Symphonic library (strings, brass and woodwinds) and ProjecSam symphonic percussion library.
Yes, Spitfire, sounds pretty good. Do you mean like just the audio mixing?. I didn´t do much. As far as I remember I bounced each section (strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion) balanced the levels and put a bit of eq and multiband compression in the master to control the build up of the mid frequencies. I don´t think is worth a video, and honestly, my mix is a bit meh haha. Here on youtube there is a lot of tutorials on mixing from people way more competent and knowledged than me.
@@nathanoises your work is very massive. I can't imagine how to write the right section with midi and dynamics. Today I have listened in loop your version 🤘🏻
@@nathanoises I miss some of the small rythm subtleties like the syncopations in the first riff, or on the overtones of the second riff (you do 4x the high notes for the overtones, but Emperor plays them 3x in a swing rythm (triplets feel). Amazing how you managed to build this track by ear. I'm coming back for a listen from time to time.
thanks for your comment! Yeah there are things I would have made different. It's kinda hard to translate those fast black metal tremolos that the second riff has onto an orchestra, but I tried to keep the triplet feel with the clarinets and oboes arpeggio
