@@tubasarikaya1701 Hi, I would say to follow exactly how she did it on all her videos. I watched it everyday for 2 weeks. The only addition I added is to wipe the catheter tube with an alcohol wipe before putting it back. Some of the viewers mentioned it so I decided to do just that. Good luck to you:)
I took my Florida State CNA Exam today. Passed it and earned my Florida State CNA License, thanks to all your videos. Thank you for providing these wonderful videos. They are exactly what one needs to know in Florida State.
Congratulations! Thank you for such a great review! (We love reviews on Google and Facebook too, if you have a chance!) We are very proud of you and wish you the best of luck in your new career! :-)
I wanted to thank God for giving me strength and knowledge to keep going, also I want to thank you miss Patty for these videos I took my test on 07/27/22 , I pass on the written and not on the skill portion for not washing my hands i got tress and messed up I continue watching your videos and I pass the skill portion on 08/29/22 , I didn’t take any Cna class your videos did it for me and I had no one really to practice on , I just practice on my bed with pillow and towel . I wish everyone a good luck on there test and don’t give up put all your trust in the Lord and believe you will pass 🥳
Hi!, I want to thank you very, very much for your videos. I have watched these videos and practice them daily. I did my exam on 11/04/2021. I pass both the written & skills. As for the skills, I was so confident that I execute them one by one without being nervous. I really appreciate your videos they help me to pass. So I told myself ,that I have to write a comment .
I watched your videos every night the week before my CNA test and this was one of my skills along with hand and nail care and transfer from bed to wheel chair. Thanks to your videos I passed! Your videos were so helpful but I'm also grateful I don't have to spend all night watching them anymore! Lol
I am so very proud of you! Congratulations! We are very happy that you found our videos helpful and wish you luck in your new career! Take a break from our channel and get some rest (but don't forget to tell others about us!). :-)
I had this skill and passed 5/13/22 on my first test attempt. I watched these videos numerous times to practice and learn them. Thank you very much for the very well done, detailed, instructional videos.
That is awesome news! We are very proud of you and wish you luck in your new career! We are very happy you found our videos helpful and encourage you to please tell others about our FREE online program at courses.4YourCNA.com (the course has WAY more information than what you find here on RU-vid!). Best of luck!
I wanted to stop by and say thank you very much for your videos I watch every day and night and today I passed both of my parts of my exam thank you again Ms. Patty
Could you please updated the video for emptying the urinary drainage bag? This video is over 4 years old. Effective 11/1/2019: Wipe the drain with alcohol wipe AFTER emptying drainage bag. Thank you ahead of time for all your efforts towards the success of CNA's across the world.
Not only that, but the video does not clarify if this adheres to Prometric exam guidelines. And I’ve never seen a plastic port like that, the ones I used at work (in ALF) have a metal clip.
Congratulations! We are so proud of your accomplishment! We would love to give you your shout-out! Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram for your shout-out! Like and subscribe to be notified when we go live for future events!
I want to say thank to you Mrs. Patty. You did a very good job by uploading this videos for me. I took my exam this morning and passed both of them. I had this skill, hand and nails care and transfer the patient from bed to wheelchair. I don't have word to thank you for posting this videos I watched them over and over and I followed all your steps and I passed. Thank you very much once again!!!!
Congratulations! We are very proud of you! See your personalized congratulations at the end of this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MGgy-iqXUSY.html

Perfect videos to refresh and kickstart my memory after not been working since I left Sweden 2 years ago where i was a trained nursing assistant. Passed my CNA test earlier this week here in Florida and the videos was a perfect thing to watch the days before my test to just remember stuff. Passed despite a small black out in my head in the middle of the test 👌 thank you dear autopilot that stepped in and reminded me what I had to do.
Thank you so much for this video as it was just what I needed to see since the nurse put a catheter in my 93 year old mother last night and she forgot to tell me how to empty it. Believe we were all overwhelmed so it was so nice to find this much needed info this morning
I’m super grateful that I found these videos, it actually helped me a lot to passed my skills test. Just a reminder for incoming test takers you have to clean the port using alcohol wipes. I know it wasn’t shown here but when u do ur skills test, you MUST do it…

Thank you Miss Pat for your experience on this channel. I did my CNA exam yesterday and i pass. Thank you for uploading all these videos. They really help me along with my teacher
I'M SO EXCITED I PASSED MY CLINICALS I'M AM CERTIFIED THESE VIDEOS HELPED TREMENDOUSLY THANK YOU.I PASSED MY WRITTEN THE FIRST TIME AND RETOOK MY CLINICAL AND PASSED SATURDAY.
Marcus Refour congrats. I passed my written skills 1st time just a few hours ago. Now I am waiting to do my clinical skills. Hopefully I pass 1st time with this too. I pray to God I do for my livelihood.
Hi all! Quick question, when doing this skill on the day of exam do you clean the tip of the urinary bag with an alcohol wipe from where you empty it from?
Thank you very much for your vedio that I passed my CNA first attempt. This skill was one of my CNA test that I did as well as you by watching your vedio many times 🙏❤❤
I just completed my CNA class in Michigan , I was told by my teacher that we should use a alcohol prep pad to wipe the drainage bag before and after it is empty . Your videos are very helpful I am confident in taking my state exam which will be very soon .
Alcohol pads are no longer used to clean the drainage port for the state exam. This is not a graded checkpoint any longer. Your instructor may not be aware of the newest standards. Have your instructor view the clinical skills checklist on Prometric's website for specific checkpoints and they will see that cleaning with alcohol is not listed as a checkpoint. For the exam, you cannot allow your drainage port to touch ANYTHING during draining. This is the critical checkpoint on the exam. Best of luck!
I took my skills exam and I followed your steps one by one but you did not state that you have to clean the holes of the drainage before you put the tube back in and I failed this skilled and passed the other too please state that you have to use alcohol pads to wipe the tube after you drain the bag please thank you!!!!!?
Thank you so much for making videos I started studying on Wednesday for my test that was today I had two break downs last night and this morning and I was so nervous I passed all thanks to you I felt like my teacher didn’t show us anything

An alcohol pad needs to be used after draining the bag and also just about every video proper body mechanics are not shown because the bed is not put up on down just the head…
I like your procedure. It’s neat and everything you did was necessary. The only necessary thing you missed doing was wiping the spout after draining the urine from the urine bag.
Hi there I’m not sure if you will answer in time my test is on Monday 10-19-20 however I was wondering do you have to use an alcohol pad to clean the tube before placing it back to the pocket of the bag
I was always taught based on research of infection control that, whenever emptying urine from urine collection bag, then closing valve, and THEN, follow with "wiping urine collection port with an ALCOHOL PREP PAD in a one way swipe motion" BEFORE inserting it back into it's protective sleeve... always a must!? (THIS IMPORTANT STEP, is crucial for U.T.I infection control preventive for the patient). 4yourCNA, in which way does current research show this not to be an appropriate practice?
I failed my clinical because I didn’t put the barrier down before I started my skill. But I passed all the rest of them, but because I failed that one she failed me for the whole thing, yes I’m pissed!
Oh no! We know you can do it! Good vibes your way when you retest! Be sure to review our skills videos. Let us know how you do - we will send good vibes your way and would LOVE to congratulate you when you pass. Join our weekly live session on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (ET). One of the girls in my group had to do this, and she took the entire catheter, bag and tubing and all, out from under my leg since I had to be the dummy, into the bathroom and emptied it into the toilet (didn’t flush either). And the whole time I’m thinking “ouch my bladder 😣” 😂😂
we were taught to wash 3x on this skill. one before emptying the urinary bag, 2nd right after measuring the graduate container and emptied it in the toilet and 3rd right after i open the curtain.
I appreciate the videos but I thought after draining the bag you use a alcohol wipe on the spout. Then put it back in place???? And I wrong my test is today 😫 but I prayed on it and studied.
@@stephanieaquino8186 its recommended so the evaluator doesn't have to stand over you, and if you remember to say these things, even if you forget to do it and still say you would do that specific thing, you'll more than likely pass.
I did this skill today and passed. Thank you Miss Pat! This video has a great contribution why I passed this skill. I followed everything even the dialogue hahahaha!
Awesome videos..did she kneel down? For infection control, kneeling not permitted in Connecticut even if on chux, only sole can touch the floor. Also, alcohol wipes should have been used. Otherwise, this is one of the best videos. Thanks for your help!!!
Thank you for your comment! We are very happy that you are finding our videos helpful! Regarding the alcohol wipe, in the Clinical Skills Checklist for Connecticut, regarding Measure and Record Urinary Drainage bag, step 5 states: "Empty contents of urinary drainage bag without contaminating drainage tube (e.g., touching container) and close and protect drain (e.g., clamp and tuck drain into pocket) after emptying drainage bag?" Prometric does require cleaning of the port with alcohol any longer. That method was removed from testing parameters a few years ago, so it is not demonstrated in our videos, since it is not a required checkpoint. Thank you and best of luck!
@@mariellemarcellus yes I did !! On Thursday night. I’m just awaiting my mail and also waiting for my final grades to be posted online because not ALL grades are there yet but I ended up getting like an 84 in the class. And did 3 skills picked at random. I passed it. I aced it :) thanks for asking!! I appreciate it
Did you have any concerns about transferring contaminated underside of chuck into surface of toilet patient may use? Hopefully has good hand washing skills.
Are these videos same for the cna skills test because i been watching these videos for year my second time taking cna school i live florida so i don't know if they test this way skills in floirida?
Anything that separates the unclean table from your clean supplies can be used as a barrier: a paper towel, a bath towel, a washcloth, a tissue, a disposable underpad, a washable underpad, anything solid! Hope this helps!
No, that is no longer a required step for testing. Please refer to Prometric's Clinical Skills Checklist for specific testing checkpoints. Best of luck!
its been 2 weeks so im sure you already got your answer, but yes, it has to be in military time and idk about the cc’s part because my school never told us about cc’s so we use mL
Can you please tell me if the drainage port should be cleaned with an alcohol wipe as in the old videos, not done any longer, or is optional? Thank you!!!
You no longer have to clean the port with an alcohol wipe, which is why it is no longer featured in the videos. Thank you for your question and best of luck!
I noticed that when Ms. Patty opened the drawer to get out the container she didn't use a paper towel to open the drawer. But for other skills she does open the drawer with a paper towel... can anyone explain that to me, please?
The existing bag has a firmly cemented (?) connection to the tube. it takes more than just a twist to disconnect. after several tries with pliars have not been able to disconnect old bag. All "tips" show this is done and skip over it, when installing new bag. do I cut the tube? what then?
We are happy that you are finding our videos helpful! We will keep you in our thoughts and are hoping you are successful! :-) If you are enjoying these presentations, please don't forget to subscribe and give us a thumbs up!
No, cleansing the catheter drainage port with alcohol is no longer recommended and is not a graded checkpoint on the exam - therefore it was not demonstrated in the video. This video meets current testing guidelines. Thank you for your comment!
Different states have different regulations. Personally, I think they should all be the same, in the sense that you are required to ensure that every part of the catheter, or any other equipment/part of the body is rid of possible bacteria. Doing it differently seems kinda stupid. Even in clinical exams.
I need help ASAP! taking my test tomorrow morning! ah! In the book guide for the skills portion of the test for this exact skills it says to put an isolation gown on with gloves to perform this task. Is it required? Will I get marked if I don't? I am taking the test in Nevada. Thanks a lot!
Nevada has a different set of standards and scenario regarding this skill. You are directed to put on gown and gloves prior to entering the room. Always follow the instructions you are given for the task you are asked to perform. We wish you luck on the exam!
I failed my test, but I passed this skill. I messed up Feeding a dependent client (reported how much fluid was left in cup, not how much she drank) and failed ROM lower extremities bc I forgot to lower head of bed and place resident supine. I was so nervous I just kinda rushed through and just forgot even after another person told me after she did her test and before I went to do mine. Lame! Do you know if it will be random set of skills again? Someone told me they give you the skills you failed again and random in the spots that you passed....? Taking it again Saturday morning, thanks so much for these awesome videos!
I'm not as familiar with Nevada's testing procedures, so I cannot really give you any guidance on this. In Florida (and other Prometric testing states), the skills are divided into 11 specific skills "sets" and each student is assigned a skill set when they register. Now, some skills are in more than one skills set (for instance, respirations are in 3 skill sets) so while you are assigned a different skill "set" it may contain a repeat of a skill that you already performed. There is no way of knowing what skill "set" you will get, as the computer assigns this and the evaluator cannot override the assigned skills without supervisor authorization (very rare, very time-consuming and must be for a VERY good reason). That is how it works here, but I don't know if Nevada does things differently. Good luck!
Oh, that is interesting. We perform through a company called Headmaster. HDmaster.com if you are ever interested. They provided the equipment and everything needed for your task and they didn't require barriers or chucks on many skills. Was very weird. Even didn't require a bath blanket for bed pan, but I used one anyway. I think I passed this time! We don't find out until headmasters has time to tally up the scores and post them online. Holiday on Tuesday, so I don't think I'll be seeing my score soon, haha! Thank you so so much! These videos seriously saved me! At least as far as I know... :)
