I can safely say that En VOGUE IS THE BEST FEMALE GROUP OF ALL TIMES, BECAUSE IF YOU GO back, and listen to groups from the past, they just didn't have it, the way En VOGUE did, En VOGUE was spinning on all fours, from there music, songs, dancing and looks, I think GOD put those ladies together
agreed. Also i don't know anyone who does not like En Vogue because frankly what's not to like? They can sing like no other female vocal group, they look beautiful, they are likeable and seem well spoken and well just like ladies, it's all class with them. Add to that, great songs and videos= globally loved group.
I love all of their voices, the lady's right they do speak in harmoney. and they all have such different speaking styles Cindy has a proper sophisticated voice Dawn has a young and kinda shy voice Max has a smooth velvet sexy deep voice Terry got that sassy southern charm in her voice
@Debra Charles please en vogue couldn’t stand eachother after 3 years into the group look at Little Mix now that’s a group that get along and have done for a decade without members leaving
Dawn and Cindy usually sings the top note but if you listen carefully this arrangement is a little different Terry (top note) Cindy (2nd highest note) Dawn (holding down alto) Max (bttm note)
Do they always sing according to range (alto, soprano, etc.)? Like, do they all have their own range designation for the songs they sing, or do the roles change depending on whose voice is needed for what task?
probably depending which voice is needed for that particular melody of the song. But I'm sure each member had their designated part but switch it up every now and then. Or sometimes switch the note in mid song.
@@TMBuxton They had their set harmonic roles like just about every other group but they would switch it up from time to time. Maxine usually sung the bottom harmonies cause she had the fullest tone. Cindy had the lightest tone and would sing several of the high harmonies but sometimes Terry would do them especially if they were belting like in the chorus for Don't Let Go.
You really don't see shows like this anymore which is sad because it was all about singers & groups with actual talent & humble beginnings & you can tell that they didn't let fame effect them.
They were simply incredible! I've seen several interviewers put them on the spot to sing and they never disappointed! Love them.... I liked Sherry Carter (and shes also beautiful) but I missed Donnie Simpson on the old Video Soul... that laid-back quality and that perfectly modulated DJ baritone voice...
I always get fixated on max when I watch EV vids... she's quiet and unassuming which always has me studying her body language to determine what she's thinking...
nf094e yep you right. her vulnerability made me love her the most cos i always root for the underdog but its quite funny cos she sung lead on their 2 biggest hits lol
And she only had one solo! "Give It Up, Turn It Loose" was the only song Maxine sang without a co-lead. "Masterpiece Theatre", the last album that she recorded with En Vogue, didn't even have her as a sole leader, which is weird because she clearly can hold it down. Maxine and Terry are my favorite members vocally. But I love them all as a unit.
Goodboy33 she did sing solo on masterpiece theatre, my fav song on the whole album no no no cant come back and ev knew that song was the shit cos they added it to their live set...that and riddle...
I remember when Hold On first came out... I was getting ready for school listening to the radio and the DJ introduced the next song from a new group..made my morning got chills from the 1st part and Cindy's ad-libs I guess you call it, reminded me of this mid 80s female group called Madame X....
GDJ.. I don't know what you mean but I can give you what I think you mean.. what parts they are singing.. Well, it's "Hip Hop Boogie Bugle Boy" taken from "Boogie Bugle Boy" and the parts are as follows: Soprano 1: Dawn Soprano 2:Cindy Alto 1: Terry Alto 2: Maxine I believe they are singing it in A Major
Oh wow! How can you tell that? That's some gooooood hearing. For some reason, I thought Dawn was singing the Alto 1, because I remember her doing that on the Super Dave Osborn show, and Terry singing the top...I don't know! LOL.
@classydancer84 hello : ) as a fellow fan of En Vogue i also noticed the vocal arrangement that you mentioned(as it was their "usual" order) however since the ladies are so vocally versatile and talented they could easily switch it up. on "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" the order is Terry 1st, Cindy 2nd, Dawn 3rd, and Maxine 4th. as all four ladies are true sopranos with wide ranges, they can sing virtually anything.
This is why i think it didn’t work even Danity Kane said it you can’t put just random folks together & expect a perfect union for 20+ years in the industry . Terry & Cindy always was together & so was Maxine & dawn. Just like in dkane ShAnnon & Audrea vs dwoods & Aubrey . Group dynamics 101
@BritneyDigitalLive You are correct. however Cindy doesn't always sing the top. the ladies actually switch up the order on different songs. in "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" the order from highest to lowest is Terry, Cindy, Dawn and Max. at any rate, the ladies are awesome, as you already know! : )
@spinto12. I listened to it again and you're right... ugh, I am usually so good with this but you're absolutely right! Usually it's the arrangement that i put up.
Yay!!! That would be awesome if we could meet up! None of my friends can go because they are cheap and they don't want to pay to go see them and our finals are around that time. I'm gonna send you a private message now on all the details!
Lord knows I love this group! I wish someone would offer them and Rhona worthwhile deal! Business is business however and I am not paying their bills, but I still have wishful thinking!
@bertfreez I do and I'll upload them soon. I just bought a new laptop today because my other one died, so that's why haven't posted things in a while. Gimme a few days.
Good ears! I knew that Dawn usually sings the top but her mouth barely moved when she was hitting those high notes. It was hard to tell if she was singing the top or not.
@@ceeceetracey9839 Dawn sang the melody (?) and was above Max but under Cindy who was singing under Terry (who sung the top note) even tho her voice was kinda drowned out by the other three here lol
+dashaun thompson You can't tell by her singing voice in lead vocals?! Yes, she was/is very much a soprano as the other two. The majority of the time she would sing the third harmony next to Maxine who is a lyric mezzo soprano,. But, Terry has also sung on the top as well as in the middle and the bottom. She's on top of songs such as; "Runaway Love" they needed her soft head voice upper register and she sings the2nd soprano in "Don't Let Go, Love", giving you Gospel vocals. She's also the only one who can sing an F6-G6 in range.
En Vogue, U even talk in harmony, (lol) I'm a fan supporter on ur facebook page, I'm a real en vogue fan, and I say this humbly, it would be a tripple honor and a blessing from God should u ladies ever would drop by my radio show and chat with us about ur fantastic career, and upcomin projects and works as well. The Muzicheadz radio show with New Zealand entertanment celebrity Martha Samasoni who host the fastest and hottest half hour show anywhere with Suniula Daniels and I'm da exec producer.
@lildwayne21 You most definently ain't the only 1 bro. Sherry is most definently the whole package.Dawn,Terri, and Cindy are my girls 2. Yeah I know I'm selfish but hey.
they had maxine always looking ethinc from all the other girls. Then she's dark skinned so she was always looked at as not as attractive as the other girls and I don't get it. some people just got a complex about color and it's a shame when it comes to black girls. it's sad actually! I always like maxine and thought she was pretty.
