Wow, thank you. I'd watched 4 videos about firmware installation and none of them gave me the confidence to just do it but yours did. It helped that the printer I'm working on is the same as the one you used for the demo but the way you explained it was so helpful. I've turned a ded printer into a fully operational printer again. Thank you. My symptoms were that it would power up and just buzz with nothing on the screen. I could tell the screen was getting power but it wasn't displaying anything. The owner had mentioned that there might be a firmware problem which he couldn't resolve so after checking the power supply I decided it needed to be flashed. I flashed it and it seems to be back to full working order. Gonna do a test print now, very exited cus I've never used an Ender before. Thanks again.
Super handy and easy to follow instructions. Thanks! I wish Creality made their firmware release notes more easily available so we can see the changes being made or new features added.
Thank you! my I got my ender from my dad, and the screen wasn't working, and I couldn't find any cracks or damage, so I thought installing the firmware but I wasn't sure how. Thank you so much for this thorough explanation! it brought it back to life yay!
Would definitely like to see that as a follow up video. From what I've seen, the new creality firmware offers live retraction setting adjustments which could be a game changer.
OMG I LEARNED SO MUCH. i had been struggling with the firmware until you saved the day with the chip breakdown. fixed and printing strong after 6 hours of searching and testing and troubleshooting.
A bit late to the table... Thank you for this video. I always wondered how to upgrade the screen firmware so it can support thumbnails. Now I do. So thank you very much. Many people think you are just covering old ground, but infact you are helping new guys, or old guys to check that final box on how to. So here is my check on how to, find the micro SD card slot on the screen. FYI, I have 2 Ender 3 S1's, and they come with the Ender 3 V2 touch screens
I just watched the video and realized I had flashed the incorrect GD firmware to my SMT board. With any luck, the original firmware can be restored. I have now upgraded the printer and display. I appreciate your support and the excellent teaching.
Thank you very much, you brought my Ender3 v2 back to life with your instructions. The only tutorial that brought success so far. Thank you and great video. Many greetings from North Germany. Wolfgang
WAO!! i fallo step by step all the instructions and in les than 5 minutes all my 2 weeks problem despair. i cannot thank you enough, i will definitely subscribe XD
Good information Brian. One thing, I updated my two Ender 3 V2 printers to Jyers firmware and Jyers display software IAW your video on that. Which is better and which do YOU prefer? Thank you.
Next to the BambuLab is also my Ender 3 V2 which is still in use. With this great video it was very easy to update the firmware, so this printer does not have to collect dust. Please continue with these types of videos!!!!! Good work as always, Thank you very much Mr. Bryan Vines
Thank you. I just installed a CR Touch and could not figure out why my machine wouldn't update. Finding out the GD means GigaDevice told me I was using the wrong file. It works now. Much appreciated, have an upvote.
Thanks.
If you're looking for an updated Jyers version, try using Jyers Enhanced. Someone basically took Jyers firmware and added a bunch of features you can enable, disable, or change on the fly using the printer's display.
If ive already updated to the same firmware you are using, but I wanted to add a BLTouch, which firmware should I use? Also, do I need to reupdate the screen as well? I literally have the same board and printer as youre showing here. 4.2.2 with SM controller. Just adding BLTouch only, no filament sensor or anything.
Great video and super-duper easy to follow instructions. I have only 1 question: how to choose the right firmware if I get a 4.2.2 mainboard (not GD) and a CRTouch probe?
Byran, not too long ago you strongly recommended the Jyers UI firmware as being the best for the Ender series printers, would you please tell me what has changed, I am a little confused !!!
Thanks so much for your video! I thought my screen was bricked but you saved my printer! It turns out I installed the firmware for the incorrect type of chip, plus my MB was 4.3.1 which confused me :/. I never thought of looking for the firmware files from creality cloud. I was looking for them in the main creality website and the package there don't have any descriptions. Thanks so much again!
I was sort of surprised that you're going back to Creality firmware after a push for Jyers almost a year ago. Why not Mriscoc since it was essentially built off Jyers work?
Thanks!! I tried installing my sonic pad, and I couldn't get it to communicate with my printer. When I disconnected it, and tried to use the printer without it, it was bricked. Thanks for showing me how to reflash my firmware!!
I don't think Creality's firmware could ever be better than a third partys. Although, you could upgrade to "Jyers Enhanced", which is basically just a more up to date Jyers firmware with a bunch of extra features you can enable, disable, or change on the fly.
Great Video Brian. very detailed and helpful. Question. Does the chip need to stay in the printer or can it be removed and everything still work as it should.?
I liked the in depth information regarding the chip as I have never been successful with flashing the firmware. Mine has the DB chip and I used that but now there is a high pitched noise from the control board and I have not been able to change it whatsoever. If you have any suggestions, that would be great. Thank you.
Wonder if I need to update. I have GD 4.2.2. without BLTouch. And firmware version 1.0.8 from stock. It's looks fishy on their website because only file for GD 422 without BLTtouch include 2 firmwares versions 1.0.4 & 1.0.5 it seems like downgrade for me (not talking about that 1.0.8 isnt even there) am I tripping?
Great video, thanks. I'm also trying to update an Ender3 with a V1.1.4 board. Any idea where I can find the files for that board. I looked on the Creality site but see one. Thanks again.
It should be possible for the board to self report its processor and its board version number and store that in About/Info. but this is Creality we are dealing with. Bryan do you know what new features/benefits the new firmware has? I realise Creality wont release any meaningful information regarding this, you count yourself lucky if they release the source code. Bryan I have been meaning to ask, do you print your T-shirts?
Is the Creality latest firmware Version preferred over the Jyers Update? Does the Creality version support M600? They seem to never get that right... LOL
I made a mistake. I neglected to format the address card before putting the files in. It had some prints on it. Now the printer is forever stuck on the black screen. Is there a way to fix it?
Hi i love your videos and i have a Ender 3 that i have swapped a 2.2.7 mainboard and put the sprite pro extruder with a cr touch. i cannot find a firmware that covers all of these, would i have to write my own or what would you suggest? thank you!
I got the spider hot end but haven’t yet installed it. Would the “sprite” option be of importance since it’s temperature set fall more in tune with the ceramic and all metal hoopla? 🤷🏼♂️
If i don't update the screen will change something on the faction of the printer? My printer have exactly the same mother board and i installed the same firmware like in your printer
Your video is as usual very succinct. Mine is still stock firmware 1.0.5. I have a GD processor on 4.2.2 board and no ABL. As such it seems only one possible firmware option for me. I wonder what that version is because unfortunately Creality doesn't indicated that in the name. Is that 1.0.7? Or is it still the same 1.0.5 as what I already have?
Thanks for a great easy to follow video. My ender3 has a 4.2.2 motherboard with a GD micro controller so the file i downloaded did not include the display firmware update files. Can i use the display update files included with the SW download set or would that cause a compatibility issue?
Thanks, you are the only one who explains what is the GD firmware. I almost installed that version in my ender that has the other chip!! Gracias, sos el único que explica qué es el firmware GD. Casi instalo esa versión en mi ender que tiene el otro chip!!
ok mate great channal iv just followed how you up date the firmware all good here BUT when I set the nozzle temp and bed temp then I get a alrm comes on saying nozzle or bed temperature it to low so mate I need help
Thanks! I’m following all the steps, but the printer does not update the firmware, once the card is in and the printer is turned on!? What can be done??
Hi. My machine is set up a little different that yours. My machine doesnt have the MicroSD card in the control panel like yours. My mother board says Creality 4.2.2 and the other card is a gigo device. Because my machine doesnt have the MicroSD card in the control panel I inserted the firmware which was the 4th one down for the GD system into the MicroSD Card slot in the front of the system. Now my screen is blue. So I then downloaded the same files that you did and my screen is still blue. It was working prior to trying to update the system watching your video. The only reason I wanted to update is that it would only print if I loaded a Gcode file and not an STL file. I am new at this 3D printing. Any help would be appreciated.
Amazing video, unfortunately my Ender-3 v2 Neo has a 4.2.2 motherboard version with a GigaDevice, combination for which there are no drivers in the Creality store. And I've tried other similar ones but regardless of what I do my display shows the creality logo with the temperature numbers kind of half displayed and realtime updated at the bottom (where they should be) but the menus don't show, it's only the Creality logo. Really pitiful experience. Also a bit ridiculous that standard procedure expected from the customer is to screw open both the motherboard and the display.
Great video, well explained. i am a regular resin printer ... just bought an ender 3 v2 ... i have modded some stuff , springs, firmware , magnetic plate ... and i have printed some stuff, some better than others but ... i think i m not liking the times, quality .... maybe i just hit on a wall ... i bought abs from hatchbox ... the thing DOES NOT STICK to the plate ... ive added tape, changed the plate ... but the thing does not work ... and i feel like ... fdm print is a total pain in the "you know" .... could you give me some advice? maybe staying away from abs ... dunno .. hope you keeo doing your great videos. peace!!!
Just put together a brand new Ender 3 V2 with the Sprite Extruder Pro Kit 300 deg, Motherboard is 4.2.2, uProcessor is the GD. Looking to enable the 300 deg temp with firmware and not seeing "spritext" and GD in the same file name such as "Ender-3 V2-HW-V4.2.2-SW-V1.0.5T-SpritExt-20220714". Am I out of luck or will that file still work for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
do you know if their new firmware will support cura pause at layer height, I know the stock version I had did not, so I went to MRISCOC, but now upgraded to a Sprite hotend, and need to get the 300C function, but no BLTouch.
I have an Ender 3 V2 ready to go. I bought a BLTouch but have not installed it yet. Should I update to the firmware w/BLTouch before installing the ABL?
I did the exact way he did to format my display and now it is buggy and missing all the normal blue color. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks
I upgraded my ender 3 pro from the creality cloud site. everything is in chinese now. i have a 4.2.2 board with GD chip...Thoughts???? I was also logged in on my account and I use a MacBook Pro to access.
Thanks for this informational video, but I'm still debating on if I should update my printer or not. I've recently run into a problem with my stock Ender 3 V2, where it doesn't show all of the gcode files on the printer. I have done some research and I know there's nothing wrong with the factory 8gb Micro SD card, as when I delete some files, it shows the ones I was not able to see before. It seems there is a limit on how many files it can show. currently, I find that it only shows about 1.5 GB of GCode files. This really disappoints me and I would hope it could show all the files on the card. would updating the firmware solve this? Thanks for the video, I might update my printer in the future as this is really frustrating.
So what are the benefits/changes what does it do now that it didn't before?. I for one will not just change because someone says so there would have to be some gains for me to change something that works well.
@sonictt1 as your answer says someone who decided to upgrade, why ???? My question clearly asks what are the advantages ?? . If you do upgrade what are the benefits, does the printer now do things much better than before ???
Loved the video. I have a question as to what to do when you install the firmware on the machine and the display and the screen will not accept the firmware, but now it looks like the older style scrren? Is there a way to reset or install an older verion? I have tried to put it back to v1.0.2, but nothing happens? thanks
So I just upgraded my V2 with the Sprite extruder and then realized that I have the GD 4.2.2 board I'm guessing I'm kind of screwed ? I just bought this printer today off of Facebook Marketplace. It also came with the Sprite extruder I just installed and play Big Tree Tech SKR Mini that I wasn't going to install but it looks like I might have to to run this extruder because it has the right chip on it
Hey guys! I need a little bit of help. I bought for my E3 V2 an E3 Free-Runs TMC2209 32 bit motherboard and I cannot make the screen connect to the printer. The printer has an CR Touch and a Sprite Extruder. Can any of you please provide me some guidance? The Creality instructions are scarce and are not providing any real guidance. Thank you!
i know this is a older video but i just was given a ender3 v2 with a sprite hot end and i downloaded the file with spritext in it and when installing the screen firmware my screen just goes blank so i tried to install the firmware without the spritext it goes in fine the only thing i see different is the download folder for the sprite does not have the TJC set file in it so what can i do for that please help
I am in desperate need of your help. I tried updating my firmware, but it did not work. Then I replaced my motherboard and it’s still not turning on!!! I am getting an 8 GB SD card tomorrow as your advice says, but I noticed it does not even connect to the PC via micro USB Will updating the screen firmware fix this issue?
Can I just determine the microcontrollers by trial and error? Or will something fry inside? My printer randomly just stopped turning on (stuck at "Creality" blue screen, no progress bar). I downloaded the Ender-3 V2-Marlin-2.0.1 - V1.0.2.bin onto an SD card that I had since the beginning (8 GB), first formatted to fat32, and the printer turned on. But now I doesn't read SD card gcodes anymore. And I'm getting a weird eeprom file. I hate Creality.
