Joshua Harner My thought exactly!! They could’ve looked down on his origins and resented him because their father loves him so much. Instead they accept him and love him. Even when they believed him a traitor, when he plunges the dagger to his heart, his brother moves to stop him.
@@shamaliwije4872 yeah i loved it especially in this scene where tus says "royal blood or not, he's every bit a son to our father, every bit a brother to garsiv and me" and then of course garsiv says the one line that you could expect a sibling to say "get up there before i take your place
@@JP-pp2tn More than that - despite having constant bickering/competitive relationship between each other, Garsiv is the first one to actually TRUST Dastan's word.... and then saves his life... just before his own death.... Practically, trusting his little brother and then saving his life are the 2 last things Garsiv does... And then Tars does all the same - trusts Dastan, save his life, dies himself... Their father was right - Bond between brothers is The Sword that defends the Empire
stepbrothers treat him well because he is not blood related to them so he cannot compete with them for the throne. So he is not a threat. Also since he is a good warrior and has fame so if they get him into their side then it would increase their chances of inheriting the throne.
@@Apocalypse9696 Man, I get what you are saying, and yes things like that did often happen on King's courts everywhere in human history... But that's totally NOT what's going on in this movie between these brothers
That moment...when Dastan looks deep into Tamina's eyes n says 'Oh..I hardly think we know each other well enough for that princess..but I look forward to the day that we do' ❤
There isnt another woman on the planet that was as drop dead gorgeous as Gemma is in this film. She is as close to physical perfection as it's possible to get. She 's simply hypnotic every time she's on screen.
Your favourite movie doesn't have to be the one which is perfect, flawless and taught to film students. It has to be the one which gives you the most enjoyment and a sense of fulfillment. This movie made me feel this and has always been my favourite film ❤
(As a film student, I can ASSURE YOU that many of the films that we're taught in class are truly horrid and just considered 'perfect' and 'flawless' for very subjective reasons😩) Thus, I agree with you EVEN MORE that everyone should just enjoy what they enjoy whether or not it's considered 'good enough' by the critics or others ❤
2:38 - 2:48 When you look in her eyes, I think you'll notice Tamina has a feeling she knows Dastan from somewhere. Someone she could love and entrust her own life. She is a guardian of the dagger and Sands of Time after all. I wouldn't be surprised if she did.
1:24 "I have nothing for you, save, that which is already yours." This is one of my favorite lines of all time! In saying that line as he offers her the dagger he's straight up admitting to her that he knows about the dagger, the sand, and what they can do without even needing to say the words. It earns him a level of trust with her, a woman that knows next to nothing else about him, that no other words or gifts could have ever have done or even really come close to. Pure awesomeness!
Agreed. When she remarks that "that's a short time for a man to change", it shows that she already suspects that the sands were in play, even if she doesn't know exactly what happened in the erased timeline. Likewise, he deliberately is not immediately telling her about the alternate events, because he wants to give her the chance to get to know and trust him again on her own first, before he tells her about their adventures in the other timeline.
@@cykeok3525 I love that part too. He's giving this Tamina the time, no pun intended, to make up her own mind about him, rather than telling her what happened in the deleted time line. It's possible that the feelings they had felt in the deleted time line were because of circumstance alone, but the this Tamina might be swayed by them. He's letting her be the judge based on the evidence she sees, not the knowledge of what came before.
@@cykeok3525 Nope. he must've gone back from the video game timeline and realized telling her the whole story wouldn't work out so well and he was looking for something more than a quick smooch so he decided to take things slow this time. 🤡
Agreed. A sequel with the Dahaka would have been great. Although the game is rated for mature audiences, I feel they could skirt the line just a little bit and give us something worthwhile kind of like they did with the pirates of the Caribbean series.
It's not entirely a shame. This was great as a standalone movie. Like Highlander or The Matrix. There's risks in creating sequels to really good movies.
it's good they didn't because most likely what would of happened is they would of got all the same cast members writers would be different so they would change things that shouldn't of been changed, which would of made it a bad story told, just like the second mortal kombat, this was a movie that shouldn't have a sequal that should just be by itself
They did a splendid job with the movie. It may have strayed from the games, yet it's all for the right reasons in order to make the movie such a memorable journey.
It's in middle east. And persia is called Iran. It's also pronounced Tahmineh. Dastan isn't his full name. It's Rustam dastan. He is a great hero in shahnameh (Book of kings) written by Ferdowsi.
Be glad they spoke English at all. If they spoke English with a persian accent, it would make no sense either. Now if they spoke persian, that would make sense.
This movie is a bit too underrated IMO. I still keep watching it to this day if it airs in Movie channels. It is quite enjoyable and immersible for me though i agree that it strayed a bit off from the video games it was based off of.
@@svyatoslavrurikovich8831 This is the perfect analysis of the movie. A movie well executed according to its own plot, but chastised due to its deviation from its source material. A victim of puritan prejudice. its still one of my best movies ever
@@Therealmoseslupai would that sequel be called Warrior within and involve a monster of darkness called the dahaka trying to kill the Prince and the prince trying to stop the sands of time created in the first place?
Honestly, for a Disney movie they left it pretty open ended, and I appreciate that. On one hand, the movie has enough room for a sequel, on the other it stands on it's own pretty good. I for one like it a lot as a standalone movie and a spinoff in the Prince of Persia universe.
A masterpiece i its own right. Gemma Arterton, Jake Gyllenhaal - a striking love story with perdect chemistry that called for a grand finish(seriously no pun intended). Alfred Molina + a well of brilliantly casted supporting acts really complete this flick to a tee⏳💎🐪
I love the karma lesson of the movie .where the child that the king rescued from the streets was the one that saved him from the malefic plan of his brother. Such a beautiful story ❤
Expected "Most people think time is like a river that flows swift and sure in one direction, but I have seen the face of time, and I can tell you: They are wrong. Time is an ocean in a storm. You may wonder who I am or why I say this. Sit down, and I will tell you a tale like none that you have ever heard." at the end.

I agree. I am not a fan of this movie and never play video game but I really love soundtracks of this movie. I downloaded and listened many time over the past 10 years. I should have watched it in movie theater but I didn't.
I saw this on cable one day and I didnt know who was in it. "I thought..A video game movie? This is prob going to be awful. I was happily surprised to see Jake and Gemma in this! What a great movie! Their acting really meshed well with each other's style and personalities
After watching this film now, I realized why Jordan Mechner changed the screenplay. I'm happy with the new story where the prince does end up with the princess instead of just giving her a hint and running away. No unnecessary setup for sequels, no unnecessary plot points that make you think it's similar to the original story, etc. Just a simple fantasy story that is inspired by its game counterpart.
no, a sequal would of ruined it, because 1. there would be different writers most likely that would change things that shouldn't be changed 2. some of the characters wouldn't be betrayed by the same actors 3. most likely you would end up hating it and going i wish they never made a sequel
Because Hollywood is stupid they prefer Moon light and it academy award or the one that woman was having sex with a fish don't I don't even remember the name
I wish they incorporated the storytelling from the original games into the movie: “Most people think time is like a river that flows swift and sure in one direction, but I have seen the face of time and I can tell you they are wrong. Time is an ocean in a storm. You may wonder who I am and why I say this; sit down and I will tell you a tale like none that you have ever heard!” -Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
they need to cast him back and like other PoP series with him as the lead actor, this movie was awesome ( To complete the story line in Forgotten Sands, WW, The two thrones)
This film is criminally underrated, such a good film! I remember playing through the Prince of Persia games a young boy, (yes I know I wasn’t old enough!)
Man, I miss the Prince of Persia games. Yet I only finished one among the trilogy. Uh, the one with the island where there's a demon chasing you and you can travel between the present and the past by using a pedestal thingy. Yeah, that Prince of Persia game. Forgot its title but oh well.
@@flirtyyae8015 Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. That was actually my favorite one of the trilogy, tho im not sure if it was as popular as the others.
@@lawrencefowler4227 when I was a kid, I always thought that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was the only trilogy that wasn't horror because the other two had that horror atmosphere in the surroundings.
I was worried that they would not do the game justice, but this was so good I was speechless. And they said everything that needed said to trust one another at the end. Easily one of the top ten best movies ever.

In 2010, Gemma Arterton also portrayed Io in Clash of the Titans (2010). In Greek mythology, Io is the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother of Perses (the son Perseus and Andromeda), who is an ancestor of the emperors of Persia, and from whose name "Persia" is derived.
What an awesome movie it was, watched it again after so many years a few days ago.. and was surprised to find out later that it was a flop in cimena.. was not expecting a game based movie to present time traveling in such an interesting way..
Movies based on video games have such a bad reputation and there is the idea that video games cannot be successfully adapted into good movies but this one really was a great action flick imo. An underrated movie that flies under the radar.
So when does he say, "By the way, I already know all of your secrets, spent weeks fighting alongside you, fell in love with you, and watched you die so that I could stop my evil uncle from unleashing the Sands and destroying the world. What do you want to do for dinner?"
