I remember seeing this and my first thought was "Why didn't Amara do something! She's a sorceress!" and I know a lot of people agreed with me online, but then I thought about it and in that moment when the glass hit him (though it should have been all of them or more than one shard), she went into mother mode and magic cannot save someone who is dying or dead. Even if it could save someone from dying, would that have even passed through her mind at that moment? Or is it possible while she was holding him that she tried and couldn't?
Well she was facing Jafar, a wizard who is at least her equal in terms of magic proficiency, knowledge and power. Even if Amara had tried to save Cyrus with magic, Jafar would have just cancelled it out with his own power. Jafar wasn't going to allow Amara to save Cyrus until she helped him achieve absolute power.
elyssiae I think that healing fatal injuries such as those are well within the power of sorcerers of the calibre of Jafar and Amara, given that less powerful and proficient sorcerers such as Regina, Zelena, Cora and Emma Swan have also managed to pull off healing spells. I assume that Amara wouldn’t have been able to heal Cyrus as long as Jafar was there, as he would just cancel out her magic, like when Amara used her magic to release Will Scarlet from Jafar’s telekinetic choke-grip.
It makes me think of the scene from Aladdin where Jasmine tries to distract Jafar while Aladdin sneaks around the room trying to get the staff (I think that's what he was trying to get).
