Adora argues for the end of sex-shaming, particularly for young adults. She calls for the redesign of sexual education for children and teenagers.
Since the age of four, Adora has been exploring what she can do with the written word: everything from championing literacy and youth voice to working with the UN’s World Food Programme to raise awareness about world hunger. Hoping to instill her love of writing in others, she taught her first class at a local elementary school the year her first book, Flying Fingers, debuted; since then, she has spoken at hundreds of schools, classrooms and conferences around the world. In 2010, she delivered the speech “What Adults Can Learn from Kids” at TED. The speech received over 3.3 million views on TED.com alone, and has been translated into over 40 different languages.
Adora is currently a freshman at UC Berkeley, where she is majoring in Political Science.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Thank you, Adora, for finding the courage to put this message out there. You did a beautiful job! I came from a repressed - hmmm, what should I call it? - family/society situation. I was born in 1948, and have waited one hell of a long time to finally hear someone say all these things, openly and even proudly as you have done. Way to go!!!

Congratulations , Adora Svitak, for taking this terrying speech about a topic so important, so left out in a corner of the world. The world need to change it's "morals" and take down some ancient "rules", the world needs to be more open and sincere about sex. Thank you !

Shame creates some culture so special words and gestures are learned in a variety to initiate intimacy on some stages. If you just ask directly its not as artistic, its blatant good thats only one expression of artistic.

Damn. She should have taken up science or mathematics. I could tell she didn't give much of a damn about logic in her speeches when she was little: she understood it but neglected it for the sake of her agenda (equality for children). She continues do so.

She's a "genius" - a "prodigy" and she can't even remember 11 minutes of a talk that she's written on her own? AND she's made "tons" of public speeches thoughout her life as well? Weak.

Child prodigy is not a title she gave herself, but one other people gave her. She doesn't think she's a genius or a prodigy, she just thinks she has a gift in writing.
