Endless Frames Review (80/84/100) 

Chris V. Agreed, I think skaters of all levels will love these, but the slight rocker is something that absolutely should come on beginner skates & never does

City Blades So interesting ..Im a total beginner - 6ft tall ,185 lbs with size 13 (47 eu) boots- on flat 243mm frame setups. (RB Twister 4x80 and PS Kaze 3x110) Learning hasn’t been easy...and Im beginning to think I made a mistake buying these setups(!) Can you recommend a better setup plz? (for basic “urban” skating/parks bike paths/some commuting ) I’m really interested in some rockered 4x100s.. or maybe 4x90s..? I just don’t knew anymore🤷‍♂️ :(

VonJhonn what is that, like 29.5 cm? Either should work for you. My feet are 27 and I like my 243 and 255 frames. 90’s are 273 and 100’s are 303... 90’s will be a little lighter and more agile

City Blades thanks for the reply. Yes, 29.5 exactly . And thanks for the advice. . It looks like my only option rn is a 4x90 setup . But I’m gonna stick with my 243 frames for a while and maybe try to get into slalom stuff 🤷‍♂️

Deez Skates definitely, idc what anyone says lol flat for beginners is absolutely not appropriate. That’s why everyone that tries roller and ice says ice is easier-turning your feet in order to turn just makes sense. Picking up your feet and placing them in another direction for the first time is hard

Coming from a quad skating background I’m highly inclined to agree. Quad skaters do not enjoy the transition from quad to Inline because in quads they can just apply pressure from the ankle and foot to flex the trucks and cushions for easy turning. Once I recommend they rocker their skates they’re always surprised and tell me “it actually feels more like quads now! I can maneuver so easy in them!” The flat inline setup requires so much more work and coordination from the hips and knees that a beginner skater does not have yet.

Johro, I’m really glad to hear you like them. I know you’ve got quite a few setups and the input you give is always well thought out. If you have time, I’d be interested to hear some more in-depth input on how the 4x90 rocker feels compared to other rockered skates of similar length.

Heey! I've been skating on my Seba FR1's with 80mm wheels now for three years and thinking about upgrading my frame to 4x90 but am unsure wheter 90 or 84 mm is better for me. Care to share your experience on 4x90?

84 is a good spot IMO. It doesn't seem like it'd be much faster but most wheels get bigger cores at that size so it ends up being fairly noticeably faster

if you wanna go for 3skates, go for 125 straight.

How’s the set up these days?

I said they were NR90-ish, and compared the amount of rocker to the back of Wizards, but overall I don't think they're that similar. Wizards have a different rocker and some forward lean on the frame and also a bit of HiLo on the wheel config; I don't think it's fair to compare every rockered frame that comes out to wizard frames, lol they didn't invent it

LOL yeah, skating flat sucks Honestly I think if you're used to banana rockered 80, barely rockered 90 or 100 would be a big jump for you. This frame with 80/84/84/80 would feel like a slightly bigger version of banana 80. I'd say the 90 & 100 would probably feel closer to your flat 80, but haven't skated them to confirm

Also... this is probably a little controversial but it shouldn’t be, none of the wizard frames are nearly as good for footwork as banana 80 & they were never intended to be-it’s supposed to be a “jack of all trades, master of none” type deal that’ll get you by on any style of skating, but isn’t ideal for any one discipline. Yes people do footwork on them, but it’s not on the level of slalom or inline figure

I'm only an average skater used to the 4x80 rockered setup so yeah, it would be quite challenging for me to skate with the Endless 90 or 100 as the rocker look too small to be significant. This would end up in "cruising/fitness" sessions for me as well as a lot of skaters I presume. A solution would be 86 or 96 mm wheels for the 1st and 4th wheels to keep the same hi/lo setup and so the same maneuverability but such wheels don't exist as far as I know. The 80/84/100 could be relevant though in a 80/84/84/80 mm setup and gives about +3 mm for the 1st and 4th wheels (correct me pls if I'm wrong). So why not?

Emmanuel Riou yeah roughly, little less, which with the extra length won’t feel too drastic. And yeah I wish they made more in between sizes for bigger wheels... it’s like 4mm increments from 60 all the way up to 84, and then 90 100 110 125

This might sound crazy but what about the Endless 90 with a 84/90/90/84 mm setup? We would have +4 mm (1st & 4th wheels) so it could be comparable to a 72/80/80/72 with a 243 mm flat frame but as wheels are bigger and the frame longer, these +4 mm wouldn't be "too much" and would eventually turn out to be relevant and pretty fun for a freestyle session plus at the same time, stable enough in a short downhill. All this is only "theoretical". My brain is currently working hard in these tumultuous times as our respective governments excel when it comes to lies, deceptions and blaming others for their own failures!

the issue is the bolt holes on the symetrics are too small to fit seba bolts, so i haven't been able to use them in years

Yes you can. Size is up to you, 84 will be better for foot work

whichever ones fit your feet. Seba and RB cruiser are wide, Powerslide Flying Eagle and Rollerblade Twister are narrow

you need a 3 x 110 Setup for long distance or better 3x125

What I did was look for an 80mm complete on sale. Then I just switched out the stock frame for the endless 80. Kept it under $350. A little pricey, but it upgraded my confidence to learn new skills immensely.

@@davew3935 The current line of rb twisters have 165mm frame mounting, so I think you should be able to switch out for an endless 80 or 90 easily. Just check that your boot has 165mm mounts.

Stuart Kelly i did skate them, then sent them to Brock so he could test them, aaand then he kept them 😂 once I get another set I’m gonna mount em up on the FR’s for said “urban, but still dancy” setup

Nick Siebenmorgen it’s not that rockered. Also the 3x setup isn’t rockered at all, so you can decide what works better for you

I recommend Powerslide Next with Ego rail 3x100. This is a good compromise between speed and agility. I have a lot of fun with this combination

then try 3x100 times with 255 rail length. But you don't necessarily need the Endless 80/84/100 rail for this. I would prefer a pure Endless 80 rail if it were then closer to the ground. There is such a rail, it's called NN Monk 4x84. Unfortunately not available in Germany if you don't want to pay by credit card

Kamil Ciura eh, depends who you ask... I won’t get much use out of the 3 wheel option, but brock likes rockin them both ways. The nub won’t get in the way of grinds

@@CityBlades good to know about the nub. Still, I wouldn't skate frames like these in 3x3 configuration, even though I love my Next setup. It would seem like a waste to me. I was watching your old Metroblade C review in which you talk about frame length and your thoughts are spot on. However, as you come from more of aggressive background, you may not know why the thing with "as short as possible" frames happened in freeskating. Before Seba released their first pure-slalom skates (High), before Powerslide came up with the very first integrated padding boot for freestyle slalom, every slalom skater was using the hardboots. Sebastien Laffargue himself used Tecnica Twisters in his prime years as world slalom champion. But the skates available on the market weren't really that suitable for slalom - i.e. Tecnica Twisters, highly regarded back then, weren't even coming with external cuff and there was a shortage of shorter frames... Skaters quickly realised that short wheelbase gives you an advantage when doing tricks between cones. So, they were modding the hell out of their skates - using UFS Salomon freeskate frames with raised heel 165mm boots, attaching hockey skates frames, even some K2 Mod frames with weird mount spacing (150mm I think) and reinforcing the connection with thick aluminium plates. Slalom was booming in Europe and Asia, companies quickly recognised that short frames are the selling point and everyone started to make 4x80 with 243mm length, even though they offered more "balanced" approach before. Even after first dedicated slalom models hit the market, most people were doing cone slalom in hardboots for years, because of entry point price and availability of skates (i.e. Seba didn't had a proper distribution chain in many European countries up to 2010-ish I think). To be fair, to this day skates like FR, Imperial, Twister (not as much as before, but still) are starting point for many beginners and thus, companies want to offer a frame that will be the most universal for both slalom and city skating. It kind of created a snowball effect of newcomers to the sport (urban skating/freeride, not slalom) being convinced that short frames are the best and longer ones are way harder to handle. People repeat that mythos over and over. Companies that did try to break out of this cycle weren't really successful. Even Seba, offering FRs with 4x84 and 4x90 weren't selling a lot of those and such skates were more of a curiosity. Rollerblade tried with Fusion 84 and X7 (I know that Greg Mirzoyan is actually a fan of longer frames himself - he was rocking 255mm Seba ones before his Rollerblade times) but these skates (damn amazing ones) weren't really as popular as Twisters on 243mm frames... Even when they were cheaper. Main critique coming from skaters on the various online forums? That Fusion frames are too long for slalom and you won't be able to use them for it in case you want. Sigh. So there you have it, it's like urban skating was held hostage by slalom for years and it kind of stayed that way with the short frames just because now everybody takes it as the way things should be done. This is why I'm super excited that aggressive guys got on to big wheels too, because you have a completely different point of view. And it already gave fruits: Wizard frames, Endless, the Adapt GTO ones, GC HD (they have 4x80 in 270mm!) and even PB Level 2. I feel that these just wouldn't happen if not for the whole "powerblading" phase and aggressive skaters trying to tweak the experience of riding big wheels more to their liking.

@@kamilciura7953 very good info, thank you for teaching me :) FWIW I haven't skated aggressive in... years probably, and am currently on a rockered-to-shit 243 frame that I'm very thankful is as short as it is... but I do remember being frustrated when I was first learning how to ACTUALLY skate that frames were so short. I guess the lesson is... it's important to have options & know your audience :)

Alexander Cook ride height and rocker are very different things. You can add 20mm ride height and still skate-good luck doing the same with 20mm rocker, lol And I wouldn’t trip about the extra nubs for the 3 wheel option. It’s like a couple grams, lol Also also they make much longer 3 wheel frames for speed/marathon skates. Not my preference, but some people like them

I like three-wheel frames that are around 300mm. I have them on my speed skates and now on my FRs too thanks to Endless Blading Co.
