Endless Space 2 - The Riftborn - Prologue 

People were asking for a truly alien race... well they got one.

Every chance I can, I try and befriend the Riftborn in all my games. Not only do I just really like their story and aesthetics, but they’re an INSANELY powerful and loyal ally once you manage to get on their good side.

Who were the artists responsible for that ship design, because I want to buy them several CRATES of beers. I mean HOT DAMN, that looks nice.

Pretty much the only faction who did literally nothing to deserve their suffering

"Willing to do anything.. to save our own" Several turns later and there's no one but the Riftborn.

Interdimensional aliens, interesting! Oh and of course the Endless could not be content with screwing just our galaxy, they had to ruin alternate dimensions as well.

Do you think that the Riftborn could shapeshift into Horatio? Could we make a whole other universe beautiful?

Our universe is to the Riftborn what the Warhammer 40k warp is to us.

Now, imagine a story from this video in a Warhammer 40k universe: "Hey guys, remember this Eye Of Terror thing? You know, the most fucked up place in our galaxy. Let's send a colonization fleet right into it! What could possibly go wrong?"

I really like the idea of that other universe, beeging a place of pyre geometry and sentience, bacuase why would all universes follow the same laws of physics. (?)

The two factions that I actually like because they’re peace seekers are the unfallen and the rift born The unfallen want to heal the universe while the other factions are so set on tearing the universe apart And the rift born just want to be left alone in their space

That theme still hits my heart where it counts, even after four years.

The story sounds nearly identical to *Harmony*, except Harmony were from silicoid planet while *Riftborn* are from entirely​ different universe

Illegal aliens in my universe? I don't think so! Looks like it's time to make 'new patriots' out of the Riftborn.

To this day, this theme song, this species concept.. is still one of my favorite ends of sci-fi media. I would die to see an Endless esc. Mass Effect style game including these different factions. I've always found the factions to be so convincing and so interesting - but I feel like the 4X medium doesn't fully make these factions feel like they've really been fleshed out. The Endless games have been fun for me over these years, and it pains me to see ES2 and EL on a decline - but the games have a limit of interesting re-playability for most players I feel like. Introducing all of these species/factions into a personal journey would be so fantastic. We know Asari and Salarian's not because we saw some cool art and heard some convincing voices on a flat screen or saw a cool trailer - it's because we talked to them, we met them, we helped and fought along side them. That's what I feel like Endless needs these days.

Ah shit... I'm thorn with this. I love the concept, but I don't think I can get behind the visual choices. As shapshifting race from an other dimension, why would they transform into ships with "our universe" type of propulsion and design. They should look nothing like humanoid ships. Everything they are should be foreign to this universe and nothing should b recognizable. I'd rather have them being blobs of white cubes, suddenly shifting into a weapon of some sort to fire, and go back to their form right after.

I like the shape people even if they've stabbed me in the back in every playthrough so far.

threw some money your way by buying the early access when it released been waiting for the official release before I play though any clues as to the rough full release date?

Interesting backstory and amazing video but "having to survive" doesn't set a very interesting precedent for the faction's playstyle. Maybe there will be more lore since this is the prologue? :o

I just noticed how different these are from the other prologues. They all start off with a negative tone, like fucking their atmosphere, then get positive since they made a big ole space empire, while these guys start off nice and go downhill. Huh.

Ok this is sad... but they're still busted and annoying in game! That AI is always on top of things with Riftborn and god forbid you start near them

I am curious about the multiplayer aspect of the game. Will I be able to play and explore with my friends? How does multiplayer work in this game?

This reminds me about this thought experiment in which an expidition, trying to find life on another planet, destroyed the climate for microorganisms that could've developed into life in far future
