Когда делаем капиталки станку, одну каплю на 20см кв размазываем, а если валиком как краску наносить, то всё с первого раза получается)

What is the point of the paint? What are they indicating the depth??

@@KadoMason11 It is to indicate unevenness between one side of the block and the other. Unpainted usually means it is lower than the painted ones. It needs to be completely painted (flat), so it wont leak.

@everythinggamer2663 Oh, I just assumed it was a DIY, I possibly had to do one. You did the heads too and you still have leaks?

@@CentralTexasCarSpotter It was diy head was surfaced at a shop pressure tested and checked for cracks said it was all good and ready brand new head gasket imported I still see creamy oil on my valve cover but the oil still looks clean on the dipstick

Was the second pasting even necessary? The first layer was completely removed, so the surface is flat?

@@pear7777 assuming the machine is accurate, it is not needed. Probably juat did it for the video.

​@pear7777 mostly to show its flat on the video?, but I don't think you should just assume that it's complete because the dye was removed, there could still be low spots.

@@pear7777 this method was completely wrong, he left the low spots unpainted. So when removing the first layer, you are still unsure if the low spots have been touched. Paint everything first time, remove material until all paint is gone > surface is flat. The amount of godawful videos on this platform showing bad practices is ever increasing.

I agree it should be called by the proper name. It’s an engine block being resurfaced/decked. That is the surface the cylinder head will mate to.

Also The technique used in the video is mainly called Single point Fly cutting. HSS or tool steel for some applications but generally on blocks and heads carbide/diamond tipped tools are used for a good to perfect finish. The paste also kinda helps to lubricate whilst been machined in a weird and wonderful way too. 😎👍

Лажа этот полнейшая. Такую обработку можно производить только под усадочную прокладку из металлопаранита, так как в этом случае отклонение от плоскостности допускается до 0,1 мм, а под метталопакт не более 0,02 мм . Так только на заводе ваз блоки обрабатывают. В остальных случаях их шлифуют плоскошлифовальными станками

С краской снимится минимально нужно. А на глаз ты или лишнего снимешь, или мало. От таких мастеров как ты, делающих на глаз, нужно держаться подальше

There are lots of videos of people using abrasives, usually improvised contraptions that aren’t suitably flat for an engine-mating surface. Often times when sanding by hand, you’ll see people working it back and forth resulting in excess material being removed in the middle. It’s not necessarily a case of knowing, as it requires the correct “advanced” tooling to do, in addition to understanding why. I’m pleasantly surprised, when there’s so many videos of people spreading misinformation about cleaning or re-surfacing engine blocks & heads.

It is possible but highly unlikely, how do you apply pressure evenly using your hand? If you were to move continuously and without going back and forth you can try sensibly but generally speaking the results will never leave you with a precision finish; possibly within tolerance and without leaking (due to the gasket filling in minor imperfections). It is taught that without a router to deck the surface it’s best to leave it untouched; check for warpage using a “straight-edge” and a flashlight or feeler gauges, if within spec, use nylon cup brushes to clean off remaining old gasket or dirt/flash rust.

Cc is bore and stroke since that’s the reciprocating (breathing) part of the engine. The part being sanded is within the piston to deck clearance so it doesn’t affect stroke length. You want as small of a combustion chamber as possible for minimal heat losses and a faster flame front… which this does. Along with allowing the head gasket to reseal.
