At 0.22, the French hooker's throw is so far off straight that it goes behind the French jumper. Ref misses it, 10 seconds later France score a lovely try. Just one of the many decisions that went France's way.

Last mediocre victories hide bigger problems: They reached their peak and lack ideas. -Boks are an enigma. They play like England, strong but one dimensional. -Nz needed a rebuild, so they test players, suffer few set-backs but will be back in 1 year. -France tested its young generation at the wc 2019 and begin to settle a strong group. -Australia recalls me France of the 2010 years. Huge talents, but few astonishing management. -Ireland and Wales haven't make their transition yet... maybe in 2 years. What was exciting about the french where was the flair. All they did was defend against a very poor England attack. All I watched was bad kicking and poor handling skills and no imagination in attack by England. And france scored one try and never looked like scoring another all game. And these are the best to teams in the north. I bet most fans were glad they were locked out.

Well maybe but really the game should have been over on the 80 minute mark if Farrell hadn't missed 9 points worth of kicking. Not to mention his extra time blunder. So on another day it would have been far less of a scrape for England than it was.

@@louistrinduc997 It goes both ways, the last 3 points France got from a penalty was a gift too which when taken out would have been a quicker win to Eng, the English player couldn't get out and so lifts his legs and the balls completely playable so no infringement. However refs on the wrong side to see that and gives a penalty which is completely understandable as the French were going forward at the time. The refs interpretation is never based off a single action but we take it as final as it is a value of rugby. Two more examples; the penalty before the Eng try, the French players were legally on the ball but they weren't cleared out because the tackling French player moved in the way of the incoming English players, tripping them so they couldn't rook/clear properly, so unfair contest, penalty. And the French knock-on that wasn't a knock on in the 22 could have quite easily (and probably should have been) just a straight English penalty as the French player jumped through the English lifter in order to challenge for the ball, initiating contact with a lifter is the same as tackling in the air, dangerous and a straight penalty. So the French were lucky to only get a knock-on. France played wonderfully, matched the kicking game and defended ferociously, but in that second half they lacking any real attacking rugby and gave away a huge number of penalties (16 for the game), whilst clearly running out of stamina compared to English, it was just damage limitation to hold onto the first half lead for as long as possible. Without Farrell having his worst day of kicking in years that game is long gone for France. Realistically I think the outcome is about as close a France could have conceivably gotten to winning, but that is still a huge achievement for them and they rightly should be proud of their performance. If they can defend like that going forward but fix their discipline so they're not giving away double the penalties of the opposition they will have a really great defensive base to build off of, and I'm excited to see how that develops.

@@louistrinduc997 how can you be so confident to compare them. A kick is either missed or not but a penalty and referee's decision is far more ambiguous and less black and white. Thus to so boldly claim the ref was biased demonstrates arrogance, whereas the impact of the missed kicks are very clear facts and non negotiable. If you need an example, the extra time would have ended within the first few minutes rather than going on to the second half had Farrell got his first penalty kick. Nothing I said there was incorrect because you either miss a kick or don't. Whereas saying "oh well france would have won if the ref actually hadn't penalised player x because I think I know the rules better and actually his hand wasn't there or that wasn't really holding on in the ruck or well he didn't collapse the maul ETC". So I HAVEN'T ever tried to compare the two but instead was trying to say "well regardless of your unsubstantiated claim about how one of the 9 penalties was actually wrong given, even if 4 of the 5 hadn't been called and farrell was on form, england still would've won. So it doesn't matter that you think the ref made 1 2 3 or even 4 bad penalty calls because what really dictated how long the gave went on and how close it was was the kicking of farell." P.S even his poor defence led to Frances try so in some ways england was a man down and frqnce 2 men up at some parts of that game.

I think France were hard done by overall but let's be clear here, nobody should be considered neutral when England is playing, we are hated by everyone. Whenever we lose it's because we are too arrogant and when we win it's because we cheated. In the end you got to realise you can't trust what anyone says about England. When it comes to the Johnny May penalty the french player should have known better than to change his line like that (although the inner scrum half in johnny milked it for all it's worth).Like i said though overall France was on the receiving end of the referee's decisions too much in this game.

You can't field an inexperienced team in the final and then act as if England didn't still win the whole tournament fairly easily (apart from the final game).

Le rugby reste un sport très majoritairement anglo saxon, donc majoritairement arbitré par des anglo saxons avec pour certains arbitres toujours leurs stéréotypes envers les non anglo saxons... C'est pour cela que le rugby reste un sport confidentiel dans le monde au contraire du foot un autre sport d'origine anglaise. Nous avons nous français autant de chance de gagner une coupe du monde que de voir d'autres équipes que les traditionnelles anglaise néo zélandaises ou australiennes arriver à passer les poules. Et les Fidji et Samoa sont aussi des équipes de langue anglaise... Même si notre équipe est parmi les meilleures (voire la meilleure au vu du dernier Tournoi et de cette Coupe justement car les anglais ont joué affreusement et de manière stéréotypée) et que cela se fera en France. Il y aura toujours un arbitrage qui fera que... Mais j'espère me tromper.

@@DanA-fk6tl Yes his shoulders did go down after competing for the ball, but he was the first player arriving, and the English player was struggling to clean him off the ball, in my book he's first player arriving to compete for the ball, and while he did fall on his shoulder it was after he had arrived and competed for the ball, so penalty to France. Had a look at the second one and yes I agree, the French player was sealing the ball instead of cleaning out.

Hahahahahahaha. I hope this is irony. There are 2 crystal clear knock-ones in the English try build-up. The 2 last penalties against France in sudden death were 50/50 to stay very polite. Anyway, it was a very good preparation for these young bleus. They wanted to win their places in the 40 players group for the 6N.

The last one is a joke, ruck is formed by 3 French players, and the ref says "no ruck" to the astonishment of the whole French team. The last word to the backrow Jelonch in interview afterwards "we knew the ref would give us nothing in this stadium, but this experience will be enormous for us, we want to join the France 6N group."

Yeah I find it hard to believe either, but it’s undeniably true. Because if you watch the game you’ll find decisions that are blatantly wrong and favoured England.
