In my eyes when lara was playing was the best batsman during his time and i give him the edge over tendukar because in my point of view tendukar was in a star study batting team with good or great opening batsmen unlike west indies during this era was still a top team with some of the worst opening batsmen so lara was always facing an uphill task most time batting but still manage to made alot of runs even a few world records so lara was the goat in his era
Thats not how you make comparisons between players. If one is going to say a batsman is better than a next you can't use the team they played in to decide who is better. Tendulkar despite being a part of a star studded batting line still had to be consistent in order to achieve what he did. In the earlier part of Tendulakars career India's batting wasn't as strong as it was in later years when Dravid, Laxman, Ganguly and Sehwag emerged. Lara being a part of a inconsistent WI batting line up for most of his career, should be seen as the quality player he is and not because he played in a team that wasn't a strong one for the most part of his career. There are way better analysis one could use to pick one of the two players and than just the teams they played in.
