+CHAOS TYPE-R Worst insult in a while. Germany has won more world cups than England. Yes, Germany lost both world wars, but do I have to remind you of how extremely outnumbered Germany was in both world wars ( especially during ww2). Germany performed way better in both world wars than England, and there's no denying that, even though I think we can all agree it was for the better that Germany lost ww2 (however it's debatable if the world would have been a better place with a central powers victory in ww1).

I´m Icelandic and i can´t believe what just happened tonight. Before the match i maybe thought we could drag the game to extra time and then to pen but i never thought that it would have gone the way it did and i was actually more nervous watching our game against Austria because they did break our defence down many times in that game but the English didn´t really have a clear chance to score in the second half and in the end it was quite comfortable. This victory is one of the best sporting achivement in Icelands history and we can only keep dreaming and hopefully do something against the hosts in the last 8. Áfram Ísland!!

You are overestimating England too much. English players might get a lot of attention because of english media, but in reality they a very average team. Far from being on top of the food chain.

England have a wealth of great talent, and the players are world class. It seems every major tournament they rarely play the same attacking football they do in their native teams, and it's frustrating to watch. Looking at players for Italy, such as Pelle and Giachareni, they both play in the premier league, however, they can translate their passion and ability onto the national stage. For me, it's a constant haunting mental affect, and also media which puts both pressure and negative pressure on individual players.

I am Irish and watched this with England fans. Pre game, I was told England would pull them apart. Football is not that easy. Yet, time and time and time again, England fans believe they are something special. Respect the opposition, whoever that maybe. Also I did not hide my celebrations as it was hilarious. jaja...The lack of hunger/desire is obvious..The English Team have disappointed for yrs but ever since the Bosman Ruling relaxed the rule on only 4 or 5 foreign players,the standard has dropped..Look at Wenger at Arsenal,i mean he really invests in the Homegrown Talent..Ferguie did it at United and Poch made strides at Spurs this season..But the other main reason is quite clear 2me..What the Champs league exposure and all the £££ and now the New Prem TV Deal..wth all this £££ the England Team and shirt is not a Priority. The players wear the Shirt wthout the Pride&desire..Where as the welsh,N.ireland and Rep of Ireland still have pride in playing for their country...Sad but True..

Being serious about it, England made a few quarter finals over a decade ago with a completely different squad. Since then they've failed to qualify for Euro 2008, were poor in 2010 before being thumped by Germany 4-1, were poor in 2012 (though managed to scrape a penalty shootout loss against Italy in an incredibly one-sided game), finished bottom of a World Cup group in 2014 that contained Costa Rica, and have now been beaten by Iceland in 2016.It really isn't a joke to say they aren't a great side. They have a decidedly mediocre record in international football for the last decade and before that they weren't great either. When was the last time they beat a genuinely top side in a competitive game? Argentina in 2002?

Problem with England is none of them play overseas in the top 4 leagues. They don't know how to play another brand of football. It's just kick and run like a stupid work horse. Berbatov was a terrific footballer, but the English will never understand why he's true class.

I've been watching City since 83' and going to England games since about 91' and obviously seen City in the third tier and the old second division and I've seen some serious shit served up, but that was usually because of the standard of the players, basically they were just shit!! But they gave their all..But to see a team like England who are supposedly the cream of our game to lose like that to opposition of Iceland's standing (no disrespect) leaves a very very nasty taste. This is easily the most embarrassed, angry and disgusted I've ever felt about football. And then for that incompetent idiot masquerading as a manager to come out, throw the towel in and congratulate a very talented bunch of players made me wanna kick the TV!!
