In the older seasons of Father Brown, Mrs. McCarthy is always bragging on her "prize-winning strawberry scones." 🍓 😊 Yours look great!

Being Australian/ English I have loved scones ever since I was tiny. Both my mother and Nanna made wonderful scones and I have taken up the tradition. I have a wonderful recipe for Cream scones made in my Kitchen Aid and they require so little work . Using Self Raising flour too makes them taste better and they rise beautifully. Love your garden!!

Using Self Rising flour would be wonderful....light and airy; however, my Daughter has a wheat intolerance which is why I use Einkorn flour in my baking. I agree with you, Scones are a comfort food! Have a beautiful week Antonia.

Carla, your garden by night was so beautiful! We are leaving to go down to Cape May N.J. in 2 days and when we get back, I have to try making those scones. There is nothing I love more than strawberry shortcake! I am very happy we will be down by the shore for the upcoming heatwave. I think that new garden area you are going to put in will be beautiful. Looking forward to seeing the progress! 💗

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH the first few seconds showing the glow from your windows into the evening garden is pure magic! I can only imagine how peaceful it would be to sit and relax and listen to the sounds of all the little critters that frequent the surrounding yard. How funny that you want to remove the bishops weed, when I love anything that is green and thrives on neglect.. haha . I almost dove into the camera with those mouth watering scones! I need to make some now. I do have a wonderful ceramic scones pan that has 8 wedges that was gifted by a friend. They always turn out perfectly and fall right out after baking.

Beautiful start to your video Carla, garden is looking so pretty, I loved the children’s stones & one for Theodore, that is a precious idea. Your arbor is lovely, a Jasmine always looks pretty & smells divine. The scones with the strawberry & cream looked mouthwatering & I thought they looked nice on that very pretty tray you purchased recently! Great video as always, such a treat for us all…😊

Thank you so much Jean. I love the idea of Jasmine, does that bloom most of the Summer? I've never planted that. That made me also think of Honeysuckle. I love it!
@jean2927
@jean2927 Месяц назад
@@mynewenglandstory … It does bloom quite a long time in the summer Carla, the only thing is it does need attention to the feeding. A weekly feed of high potash fertiliser in the summer, mulch along with leaf mould in autumn, cutting back after flowering. But it is worth the effort because it’s so pretty & a gorgeous smell.. Kind regards.

Grapes!!! We found some in the back of the woods and I think an old arbor can be seen in a photo from the 50s or 60s

Carla - The well-chosen decor you’ve placed in the outdoor areas of your home give it wonderful personality & charm. So often people concentrate on the interiors but don’t think about their outdoor spaces, which is what first introduces us to the personalities of the property’s residents. Your outdoor spaces give the feeling of being warmly welcomed. The recipe is very simple & looks delicious, I look forward to giving it a try!

For your arbor, I have to chime in and say that morning glory is heck- you will have it covering ALL your acreage before you know it. Wisteria take a ton of support. How about a clematis that is not too much of a grower. I love clematis montana but daily I have to nip it back. There are so many nice clematis. Or a climbing rose but that could look sparse depending on the variety.

Hi Carla, your garden is so pretty. I love the stones you have for your children and grandson, such a lovely idea. The scones look delicious ....as you know, scones are very popular here but there is always a debate as to whether the jam should be added first or the cream! I spread jam then cream....my husband the other way round 😂 Have a wonderful week x

LOL, yes, I've heard of that debate! Either way you add it, I think it is delicious! I'm fairly new to Clotted Cream and it is SO yummy. Happy Sunday!

The arbor is lovely. We have a fruit garden and we are putting an arch in to grow a grape vine over. Grape vines might be a good idea for your arbor.

Hello Carla, As always enjoyed seeing today's informative video. My taste buds wished 😋 for your scones 🍓 I love the arbor but do not recommend putting in morning glories, it grows on my property invasive, it may look lovely if it would stay only on the arbor but I doubt it would. I suggest growing grapes 🍇 they would be a double header first very attractive, secondly to make wine 🍷 I also love your idea for the bistro table there, so inviting.☕🍷 ❤

Hi Carla, just wanted to let you know I received my jam and shortbread yesterday. I have already had the strawberry/rhubarb jam on toast this morning and it was delicious. It reminds me of some my mother made many years ago. Of course I had to try the shortbread and they are delicious also. Your scones looked so good, may have to try making them. Love your garden, especially the arbor. I think Morning Glories or climbing roses would be pretty on it. Thanks and take care❤

I'm sorry, I don't have the name. It was painted this color when we bought the house and just took in a paint chip from the house and they matched it as close as they could for us. We like the color which is why we chose not to paint it another color when we started painting last year. Have a great rest of your Sunday Kim!
