In this episode, Danny takes control of the grader as we set out to make our roads better. Jack provides insights into the design, highlighting the significance of these changes. Meanwhile, Ant is on the loader, widening the road and creating essential drainage systems. Our goal? To optimize water runoff and make creek crossings easier for our trucks. Stay tuned as we work together to ensure smoother journeys on the station.

As quite and reserved as Danny is, its great to see him smile at a joke as you know its sincere! Also seems it would sure be fun to sit down for a beer with these 3 guys whenever possible, no telling what stories would be told.

My Dad used to teach our new dozer operators with lesz is best. When damsinking, he would show them, stick around long enough to ensure they are safe, that the gear will survive, then jump in the ute and go. He would come back when he knew any mistakes would be retrievable. Let them feel the machine, make mistakes with no pressure. As soon as you become one with the machine you become so smooth on the controls, you feel the machine under you. Then its time to begin the technical side of the job. Enjoying your channel as i have some history out a Prenti. Its gods country.

Hey Jack on stations in Northwest Qld the mounds on the road to divert the water are called Warbouys. Thanks for the video and good to see you are providing an environment for people to have a go 👍

Congrats to all, you have shown a deep understanding that in teaching Ant and Danny that you can have both machines operating increasing productivity, it was also good to see that you Jack have enough self awareness to see that you gain an increase in your own understanding of how to teach others well done.

Hi Jack and crew, Interesting how shallow rooted, for a dry area, the trees are that you're clearing . Is this typical for these type of trees? Thanks

Nice! re Buildings, Bro-in-law was telling us about a project on the mine he's at (FNQ), where he's designing various blocks for ablutions, staying etc. Trying to balance functional, with desirable. Pretty cool. Those tussocks everywhere, are they what the cattle are eating? Or are they quite varied in what they have a go at?

You learn a hell of a lot more by doing than by learning in a class room. These lads will learn how to operate the machinery rather than just drive it! I have seen qualified engineers say "oh so thats what they were talking about" once exposed to certain industrial maintenance processes. They had seen it in books but it didn't relate until they experienced it in the field. Also had engineers give me drawings and say make this. You then ask "how" cos its bloody impossible to build.😅
@jack_out_the_back
@jack_out_the_back 9 месяцев назад
Absolutely, both aspects need the other, you can't learn it all from theory, and it doesn't quite gel until you feel it properly!

Instead of putting drainage swales into and across the road why dont you camber the road to the low side so you don't have bumps in the road
@jack_out_the_back

I do in some places, but one of the challenges in reworking the existing tracks is the time to put into the re-engineering, this is a "quicker" method and helps in the high rainfall events (where we might get 50mm in a few hours)

Get rid of the Ant and get another Danny he doesn't rudely interject all the time.
