I loved halo reach and I still do and I saw this pc video on halo reach, and it looked so sexy like the weapon models and armour. Reshade would make it even more secy
Damien Martinez It’s kind of a theme with his videos; from comments he shows, he gets a lot of hate and when he does that whole “like the video” thing, he dislikes it in the visual example.
Check the description for the download for Project Cartographer Halo 2! They also have a discord channel :) pop in and let them know they're doing amazing work!
@Aidan Pritchett That was already set globally as my system isnt too great but I got it to work with a modified version of reshade from the cartographer discord. It had to do with preserving depth layers. Had to force preserving the player arms depth info as the original reshade kept only choosing one or the other (other being the game world depth info). But thanks for the reply!
I can't help but remember there was a way to share reshade presets with other people. Could be another shader plugin, though. I'm not great at editing everything with ReShade so if it's possible then maybe you could share a download to your presets used in the video
I know a very simple way of installing and it requires all files (.inis .dlls and reshade-shaders folder) but editing the reshade.ini file so it reads as "./preset.ini" instead of "c:/halo 2/preset.ini" for all the other required files. It's what I do with my own filters.
to share reshade presets, the creator of the preset simply has to shae the preset.ini (it named by default "DefaultPreset.ini" if he didn't name it and can be found in the main folder)
@@udese730 and you can rename them and set it as default right? Still I wish Halo2 saved them properly because if you alt tab from fullscreen reshade resets for some reason..
How did you get AO to work, I turned of anti-aliasing, but the only thing that's actually affected by the AO is my hands. No matter what I do nothing changes. I am using Reshade 4.3.0
Theragingsparten 1 when you look at your list of active shaders do you see “Edit Global Processor Definitions”? Click it and you should see “Reshade_Depth_Input_Is_Reversed”? Instead of 1, set it to 0
@@LateNightHalo unfortunately, no. Still thanks for trying to help out. It did however clean up and slighty improve the AO on the Hands, so that means I'm getting somewhere. Thanks for helping out
@Kuniko 343 said cross play wont be in at launch and they will monitoring the situation. There are major technical issues with pc and console cross play. I highly doubt they will add it unless there is a huge huge push from the community. And even if they did add cross play, most likely there would be a game type or some way to toggle playing cross play off. Oh and your the authority on what people want? You say same old story..... yet there are remakes emasters that do very well. New isn't always better. Look at the crap we have got from AAA game devs in the last few years. Also, adding halo to pc opens halo up to alot of people that don't play xbox. Reach has never been released on pc. They are also selling it at a really reasonable price. So where is the hatred coming from than if there is no cross play? Or is it because another group not part of your super ultra cool fan club (xbox) is getting the games too?
Best campaign, best writing, best music, best engine upgrade, best glitches, least linear (no invisible barriers), most challenging, great multiplayer. Yeah halo 2 is the best halo game imo
My buddy from middle school invited me over to his house one day, and I distinctly remember him taking me to his room and saying something along the lines of, "Take a look at this." It was Halo 2. I had never seen anything like it before, and the only thing I could compare it to was Star Wars at the time. He loaded "The Arbiter", and I just watched in awe as the Prophets spoke to Thel about The Great Journey. You know that feeling when you don't know what you're looking at, so all you can do is just stare in awe? Yep. That was me. 8:30 makes me extremely emotional, because not only does it take me back to the moment I became a Halo fan, but it also describes a moment in time where things were not only simpler, but beautifully so. Thank you, Late Night Gaming. Thank you 💓
“This impossible vastness that reminded me of the second level on Combat Evolved” ahh the attention to detail you muster, I have fond memories of that level 😁 Infinite seems to be promising on huge open areas, with 353 hiring open world designers etc. I really hope they genuinely revert Halo to its roots.. people are skeptical but I’m so excited
I love what you did with this. This is how I like remasters to be done, retain the art style of the textures and models but update the lighting. Just like the Quake remaster/rerelease.
Wow you did a really good job on this one! You actually improved the look of the game a lot. Some of these shots look just as good as halo 2 anniversary.
Would love to see a let's play or at least a partial let's play with either of the shader settings you used. The borderlands cell shaded style especially!
Hey LNG, I've been watching a lot of your videos from 1-2 years ago and I noticed that in a few of them Udina from Mass Effect pops up and you've talked about ME a little bit but I think it might be pretty interesting to see what your relationship with ME is like... also congrats on reach-ing 100k subs! Keep up the good work.
Seeing inside "Sacred Icon", you've done a really good job of making Halo 2 look, not necessarily like Anniversary Halo 2 to me, but it reallllly reminds me of Halo 3, and in my books thats a great thing!
Dude, thank you for showing off Project Cartographer! Edit: I can remember recommending it to LNG months ago about playing Halo 2 on PC with better settings, controls, ability to play mp easier than on Xbox, etc.
The new graphics you did to this game looks like it was made on the Source Engine, Finally a 2004 game worthy to beat Half-Life 2 on how beautiful the game is!
One thing that seems really interesting is that once you'd applied the Reshade effects, it really brought out some of the detail on the normal maps. It's especially noticeable at 4:32 and 5:51, where you don't have to squint your eyes to see the details on the SMGs anymore. It really makes me wonder how much better Halo 2 could have been from a graphics and lighting standpoint if they had been given more development time with Halo 2.
for anyone complaining about AO making polygon too visible: you can go find at the beginning of the AO shader a line that say someting like "AO_SMOOTH_NORMALS" set to 0, set it to 1 in the code and save the changes or add it to your pre-processor definition. hope that helps someone out there
Reshade will actually get a Screen-Space-Raytracing option soon. Especially for games that dont have baked in AO, this enhances the GI a lot. (It is currently in beta). Can't wait to try it with Halo 2! And thanks to you I want to play Halo with a cartoon shader :D Great video!
correction: halo 3 could go for a HD remaster. None of the actual look of the textures would change but they would be way sharper and more detailed. I’m not sure about redoing the music though, but if they do what they did with halo 2 and kept true to the theme, it should be good.
That cartoon filter actually looked pretty good, I think it'd be interesting to see on a light hearted halo game, one with a more comedic tone. Probably a fan game, or silly bonus game mode that would be dlc nowadays...
I shoulda left this on the reach video. But during my entire time playing reach I only had this old small plasma tv. And it cracked slightly and had some minor errors on the screen. And I played the hell out of reach on it. The immersion of the cracked screen to the helmet was so nice. Just like your reshade there.
I was just thinking about the ambient occlusion efefct making the smoke from grenades transparent to shadows and other such things. Would you be able to apply this effect to csgo and effectively create almost see-through smoke grenades which the characters will shine through? Or do they work in a different way?
Will you do this with mcc pc. I feel all halo games can do with a makeover like this. The improvments made here (especially on sacred icon) are incredible! Great video as always!
8:17 this is what halo 3 looked like when I nuked my brain on adderall, weed, and kratom Except the textures were moving and glowing, growing and shrinking, was not a good time
How exactly in reshade are you changing weapon view models? Like I've seen the sliders and stuff but I don't know what exactly you're doing to use this feature of reshade. Any help would be great, I don't see much about it specifically online.
I like how you started to mess with bloom and then talked about light reflection and refraction like they have anything in common. And then proceeds to blow the shit out of the sky.
Are you running on the highest version of DirectX? I know you can get Halo 2 working with several versions, but I can't remember which one is best Also, never try to stack AA. It may sound like a good idea, the more the merrier and all that, but it's a rookie mistake. When you try to pile the effects on top of each other, it doesn't just break the edge detection, but also many other effects as well
2:05 Dude that's amazing how you noticed that. I "never" would have, and I've played DH more times than I can count! (It's one of my favorite missions).
Would you be willing to upload some of these reshade settings to megaupload or somewhere sometime? Or just text listing your settings somehow? This is a really cool and impressive video.
hi latenight love your videos and i am in love with the reshade settings that you made for Halo 2 and i wanna try and recreate it. Will you ever release the exact settings that you used for reshade in Halo 2
Very interesting take. One thing I disliked so much about Halo 2 was its overal look and feel: graphically and style-wise it felt like a step backward from Halo CE. I wish it had come out a bit more like your version.
