I got into Kpop with YOUNHA, BOA, Girls Generation, 2NE1, IU, other groups, and some other solo artists. (CL from 2ne1 joined BigHit too.) But YOUNHA and BOA had Japanese songs in anime and stuff like that. I had no idea that YOUNHA and BOA were Korean back then because their Japanese was so good. Something I thought of when you mentioned the carnival: how might Enhypen’s carnival relate to the fair/carnival in the TXT universe that we see Soobin visit in the Eternally MV? Maybe they’re the same carnival and both sets of boys are experiencing different aspects of the magic inherent in the carnival, Enhypen in a supernatural transformation vs. TXT coming in control of magical powers.

Very insightful as always. I totally agree that the transformation into vampires is clearly an allegory of their transformation into artists. Big Hit seem to love allegory in their concepts. I'm reminded of Puma by TXT with the escape from the zoo being an allegory of their debut experience. I think the institution/orphanage flashback scenes represent I-Land. They are shown practicing and undergoing examinations and this is where they transform into artists/vampires. Not sure what the building is in the desert that Jungwon is looking up at but it may represent their future. It seems like something in the early stages of construction and it is not clear yet what it will become. They are taking aim at it and it is a shining beacon in the darkness that seems to call to them.
The children's voices singing at the end sounded so much like Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind that I wonder if they play a similar time: both a memory of a happier (if not healthier) past and a vision of a redemptive future.

You are always learning and improving as an artist and this can be said about any dream you have, right. Which Ego are you referring to? Because the one from Carl Jung is a bit different. Jung explains the "Ego" as the "reason" or Ego is the conscious. For survival, if their 'reason' dies isn't that bad? The ego should not be thought of as an enemy, but rather as something akin to a necessary evil. Ego is crucial in order for us to be able to quantify our experiences as human beings. I am explaining this for people who don’t understand what Ego death is :) Ego can be a dualistic lens through which we come to perceive life. ENHYPEN doesn’t need to be anything for each other, the company, and the fans other than what they truly are; themselves. Because this is all about the journey to self and to achieve their dreams. You are right, “Ego” can be like the “Persona” that are all parts of the individual. But remember Persona is a mask or shield for the external aspects such as society. In other words to fit in. Yes, Persona is connected to Ego, but they are separate things. Persona is what you want others to perceive you as, but in the end, it doesn’t define who you are. Ego is what you perceive about yourself; that self-image and sometimes you don’t show that side. And other times that ego side is shown too much. (Isn’t that what people say when someone has a big ego; that they are overly self-centered? Those people’s egos are out of control, or should I say too controlling.) ENHYPEN still needs to be themselves fully before they can help others; not a mask or self-image of who they are but their true selves. If they aren’t themselves then who are they? This is part three of my comment. Please read the first and second part before this one. 3 In the debut showcase, the “Flicker” performance reminded me of BTS’s “Black Swan” music video because they had white outfits and dark sections on the suits. It’s clear that ENHYPEN is starting out in the shadows first. They broke out of the egg that was described in the book Demian. In the “Let Me In (20 CUBE)” debut performance, some of the lyrics talk about windows and probably doors too. Also, Nemo is mentioned; it’s the “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea” reference. Also, “let me in” sounds like what a vampire would say. In the choreography for “Given-Taken,” they have a part where they look like they are holding a bow and arrow, which reminded me of TXT and BTS. For TXT, in “Puma” mv where Beomgyu is on the ground surrounded by arrows (the arrows being shot at him). For BTS, it's like the “Blood, Sweat, and Tears” mv the arrow, then bow and arrow Hosoek is holding in the mv. Also, the “WINGS” concepts with those arrows surrounding Hoseok on the ground. Also, it’s a bridge between Dreams and Reality. Why is Jungwon outside that window at 1:38 in the mv? “Thousands of doubts behind me…More thousands of mistrust behind me…But I go now, follow my dreams…Drive through the question for life…” Jungwon is outside during those lyrics. Outside looking in. Did anyone notice the windows breaking and the room getting cold when Sunoo was about to bit Jungwon in that playroom, it’s like there’s also a ghost in there? And the rocking chair that moved on its own. But it could also be a strength/power from Sunoo. I also wonder did they wake up in that place or orphanage? Was Jungwon already a vampire, since the ending showed him with fangs, or did he slowly turn? In the “Given-Taken” mv there are parts of them dancing on what looks like a stage or theatre room with a bright white background. I see that as them describing when they were on the debut showcase to be performing even when they don’t feel like they belong there. Them being “given” the opportunity or if they’ve “taken” it themselves, they aren’t sure about that yet. I think it’s both of those things, they don’t see that they’ve actually worked hard and that they’ve always been able to do it; just never pushed themselves enough. They need to realize that they all deserve to be in the group. I hope they figure that out for themselves as a group and as individuals and continue to improve. There are the lyrics: “…I flip over the world…I step into the sky…” reminded me of J.R.R Tolkien’s drawing of the “End of the World.” It’s of a small figure stepping off a cliff by the sea. This isn’t just the end of the world referring to its demise or the death of this particular man but it’s the end of the world as in it’s the end of the known world. The figure reached the edge and wants to continue his journey. It can also be seen as a symbol of the threshold that Tolkien crossed when he drew that image. The doorway to the imaginal. And the borderline that ENHYPEN is talking about. Not just that, but it’s like BTS and TXT. They “step into the sky” as well. Remember when TXT where on the train and they closed their eyes and jumped into the sky. When both groups travel between dreams and reality. The whole “Given-Taken” mv reminded me of BTS “Blood, Sweat, and Tears” and “WINGS” because ENHYPEN is talking about the good and the bad as well. The part where Ni-ki is floating. Not just that, at 0:41 in the “Given-Taken” mv I noticed the ceiling window is broken and there is light coming down from it. The desert at 2:08 in the mv. That metaphor for the desert being the struggles in life. Doesn’t all of that remind you of BTS? There’s a spire or tower in the middle of a desert with cloth covering it, what is that? Now that I think about it, that also reminded me of another book and movie called “The Dark Tower.” (It’s a good book and movie.) Visually at 3:05 in the “Given-Taken” mv, they look like actual vampires. It’s all of the boy’s facial expressions, I thought it looked interesting and it’s right in front of that spire/tower. They keep coming back to it. I did mention this before. The “Given-Taken” mv reminded me of a manga/anime called "The Promised Neverland." This is what it's about: "Emma, Norman, and Ray are the brightest kids at the Grace Field House orphanage. And under the care of the woman they refer to as “Mom,” all the kids have enjoyed a comfortable life. Good food, clean clothes, and the perfect environment to learn-what more could an orphan ask for? One day, though, Emma and Norman uncover the dark truth of the outside world they are forbidden from seeing." It's like they were never allowed to go outside at all, something is off about that orphanage. It's like a psychological thriller. It’s almost like they are being experimented on in “The Promised Neverland” story and in ENHYPEN’s music video. (Sunghoon’s hand is on fire at 1:07 in the mv and he’s not hurt by it.) Maybe they have different powers even if they are all vampires. For ENHYPEN, it’s like they never left the house or they couldn’t leave and it’s their first time leaving or exploring the outside world for the first time in years. We know they aren’t trapped in that place/orphanage forever, which shows because they are wearing clothes in our current time. I also agree that there are elements of Dante’s Inferno as well, but it’s subtle. There’s a vague feeling about the storyline and it makes me want to know more :)
I think Sunoo, Sunghoon, Jay and Jake are four vampires who live in that house. Heeseung, Ni-ki and Jungwon are normal guys that are catched by vampires. Heeseung is in pain cuz he was bitted and he is on the table. Ni-ki is bitted too and because he wanted to run away, he was punished and thrown into the LIGHTS ROOM where you can be burned. Jungwon is a curious guy who left his house and want to make his dreams become true, and he came here at the window, Sunoo saw him and bit Jungwon! And i create one dialog what for me have sense: Ni-ki: So, what was happened? Jungwon: We are given by the fate, and taken by some vampires..(BiG bRaIn TiMe) Heeseung: Given or taken? Ni-ki: Both! This literally just popped up on my suggestions and honestly I wasn't going to look at it right now but the memes got me ngl 😆 The amount of curse words that I said while watching this when I realized their story will most likely connect to other bh label stories and that I truly have no clue what's going on in any of their universes. I'm shook and disturbed, especially after last night's The Chaos Chapter preview with Yeonjun at the MMAs. I was just saying last night I hope they don't have Enhypen have de@ths like Jungkook and Yeonjun after that TXT performance, but it looks like it might just happen since we've seen Jungwon d1e or be attacked few times already. Then I think of the blood that was in running from his nose from the very beginning of the mv. They seem to already be setting it up for him to be the will suffer the most or is at least be the main tie into the story. I think Bighit likes separating the universes of each bighit group, so enhypen's is about two worlds that they go in an out from, and it's connected to vampires, and it's also a metaphor for their debut and DESIRE to win/debut. and their TRANSFORMATION as trainee to artist. Also, how they went from individual to group, so those are the two worlds.
Also, which i could be wrong but, in the chorus when it goes, “to you, to, free” and then it goes again “to you, to, me” notice how the ends change which is ‘free’ and ‘me’. I think here it could mean anything, they could mean ‘free me’ from the “facility” that they are in to get better. It could mean to free the vampire within that’s willing to get out and let it take over or free them from this fantasy they are in. I don’t know if i was the only one who noticed that haha.

I wanted to add this in my earlier comments. I noticed the background in one part of the music video. I saw hooded figures at 1:47 in the "Given-Taken" music video. (I was thinking about ghosts when I saw the background.) That reminded me of BTS's mv "Fake Love" (the extended one) and "ON." Also, it all reminded me of the persona part of a soul, the mask (or shield). They did say the word ENHYPEN means a bridge or a connection. So it really is a bridge between the supernatural/magical/fantasy world and the normal/reality one. And the bridge between darkness and light. I made that connection while watching the music video and the debut showcase. We both noticed that. We know that TXT, BTS, Gfriend, and now ENHYPEN are going to go back and forth between the two worlds. The mask part doesn’t that also remind you of BTS “The Truth Untold.” I did mention this before with their outfits from the teaser trailers; that it reminded me of “The Truth Untold.” Hamlet, that’s interesting. I’ve read that story many times. I see what you mean. Oh yeah, I forgot about TXT’s “Crown” choreography with the bow and arrow. That eclipse that BTS used for their MMA performance reminded me of something yesterday. It’s a similar one from one of their other music videos or songs. It’s BTS’s “Serendipity” mv. There is an eclipse in the music video. (I just watched the music video and listened to the track again, so I can fall asleep better.) There was a reason why the "Outro: Cross the Line" was the second part at the beginning of ENHYPEN's MAMA performance. (It's after Sunghoon's rollerskating section.) Everything is upside down and right side up lol. I also really like the Outro 🥰 So those camera effects and filming does have a meaning too. I had a feeling it meant something. Here we go again with the different realities lol BTS did that with "Life Goes On" as well, using different cameras and effects to portray a memory or recording something from the present; it also explains the black and white imagery and photos.

Yes, BigHit had the plan of making all the groups in a Marvel universe type of setting but I don't know if they are still doing that. I had to go back and listen to Cross the Border when you said it sampled Phantom of the Opera. I would argue that while yes, the motive is noticeable as part of the Phantom's lietmotif, it isn't a full sample. The full sample crawls down the scale and then goes back up. The part in the song only goes down twice. Honestly, this is probably done so Sir Andrew won't sue them. Because it doesn't seem to be credited as a sample. Also I can't believe I didn't notice it before you said something. I know that musical backwards and forwards.
Maybe they did get the copyrights for the sample. Also, if they used the Phantom of the Opera as inspiration it's fine :) It's like BTS's "The Truth Untold" track, it's a story of untold love. It's similar to the "Phantom of the Opera" and "Beauty and the Beast." It's also in the way ENHYPEN was dressed in the mv with the dress shirts and pants, which reminded me of "Phantom of the Opera" and BTS's "The Truth Untold." Since the Phantom hides his true face from others. In general, even if we know something in great detail, we may sometimes miss something and then we have to look at how other people see it. Then in the last scene an AI is formed because of hatred (which is symbolized by a broken heart, or maybe 'dislikes' if it is in the internet world)..If you already listen NCT U 90s Love, KWANGYA is also mentioned in the video. So, in the wider meaning (SM Universe) KWANGYA is kind of virtual place (or simply an internet) that connect all SM artist. The relation with NCT U 90s is that, apart from trying to influence æspa in their original world, Black Mamba is also trying to destroy KWANGYA. In the MV, NCT is represented by dinosaurs (T-rex), while there is a scene where Yangyang and Winwin are playing video games, shown on MV on their TV screen the words 'WARNING' are seen while above the warning there is the words 'Dinosaurs vs Snakes'. it could mean that they also tried to fight the black mamba at KWANGYA, but unfortunately the next scene was shown on their tv screen the words 'Game Over' which meant they were defeated. then there is a scene where they seem to regret their defeat (After they win against 'Gorillas', maybe next they will fight 'Snakes' and lose). Even though the 'EXIT' door is in front of them, they can't get out because the Black Mamba has cut ties between KWANGYA and the real world. The lyrics also say, to be exact in Haechan and Jeno's part "Come and find me ...." "Beyond the KWANGYA, come closer" which means they ask for help from æspa (maybe) to save them. Besides that, there are also some terms that are still mysterious such as FLAT and COSMO (Ten part, I guess if COSMO is a kind of space-time that connects KWANGYA and the real world). that's my version of the theory, actually it could be even longer. but overall that's the story.Thanks
if the doctors were trying to cure them from being vampires, then what was jack trying to do with niki? why was he checking niki's mouth with the torchlight? it looked like he wants to see if niki has got his fangs or not... and maybe he wants him to be...? and the room where jack, jay, and sunghoon were in is actually a basement much like a secret place where they hide. jake convinced jay and sunghoon to come to that room and then sunghoon burned his hand there and jay looks totally hypnotized by jake. something is wrong going on in that room. do I feel like jack crazily wants them to be vampires (metaphorically successful artists) but actually is hurting them? please let me know what you guys think about this theory on mine. please comment done your opinions and theories!
It looked like Jake was checking Ni-Ki's eyes and not his fangs. Also Ni-Ki seemed out of it so maybe he was given a pill that makes him dizzy and unconscious and Jake was checking up on him to see if he was alright?? Or maybe he was checking if his eyes has changed cause yknow, the color of the eyes change a lot for vampires...
Pure fantasy: For me, they are being experimented. It's either doctors are experimenting them to become a vampire or they are stopping them to become a vampire or it can be both. (Doctor's giving the power or they are the one who's taking their power away) Given or Taken LMAO. Sunghoon must be the one who wants to stay in that place (he seems contented to his power) Jake is the obedient one (Doctors trust him to checked the others hence he's checking Ni-ki) Jay, Jungwon, and Ni-ki wants to escape that place. Jay vs Jake. I think Jungwon managed to escape? (based on the trailer like he's running away and Jake's coming at him) Ni-ki can levitate that's why they chained him. Heeseung's power haven't awaken yet, so they're making him took the pills (voluntary or involuntary idk) Sunoo is in the middle. He doesn't know who he'll go to- he always stay in that place.
Reminds me of To understand the present we must look into the past. Doesn't our past makes us what we are today. A person's past can make a person good or bad a person's personality and life choices can depend very much on their experiences of the past. Also there can be no present or future without past the only thing we are certain of in life is of past. Anything can happen in present or future and we can change it it's in our hands. But past remains the same no matter what. Also maybe the song concept can also mean at a certain point of time what is now our present and future will turn into past. Or our identity as of present or our life will also one day become of the past (which could mean we die in the end anyways no matter what we do). Isn't there a saying the only thing we are certain of in life is death.

In my opinion...ldk if others would accept this fact or not but why do l get the feeling that BTS, TXT and ENHYPEN are interlinked....l mean everything is linked to one thing or the other....like somebody here mentioned abt the TXT carnival in which Soobin was there and ENHYPEN having a carnival in their mv....and everyone over here...if u see some moments in Given&Taken u will find some similarities btw BTS and ENHYPEN...Like Heesung getting up on the table and the boys sitting just the way BTS were sitting in blood, sweat and tears,then niki up in the mid air just like Jungkook was in blood sweat and tears...l mean BigHit have a huge plan. All the three boybands lg have a story linked some way or the other....
