This is the best song to come out of India in decades. The lyrics in Tamil language is out of this world. So powerful and enchanting. This song must win 2022 Grammy Awards as the Best Song in the World. And it should be the Theme Song of UNESCO for preservation of nature and integration of humanity.

The high pitched singing is called Oppari (Lamenting). It is sung in funerals in Tamil culture where women sing about the dead and pay an emotional tribute.

The instrument with two sticks is Parai. It is an ancient drum used when we were tribals. It was used in war, to bring the attention of the people to announce messages. Over the period of time it has pushed down to lower class instrument and it is also used in funerals. Now it is reviving back

Tribute song for our ancestors, mother nature... 200 years back British captured many poor people who lived in nature and made them work in srilanka and other places in tea plantation... When the economy grown up they didn't want these people to share their land . So they were forced to go back to their mother land with NO ROOTS OF CONNECTION. all they know s to work in tea plantation... So they migrated in South India were tea plantation s there... But only few got job and others were forced to do some other labor work... Struggling to feed their family... This song s says about that.. the guy who sings s Arivu.. his grandmother s from that struggling people... I cried while watching the song.. filled with mixed emotions...

In this song there is a line.. "grandson:where are my glasses? ancestor:take them my grandson" means ancestors saw and wanted this world, nature, animals to be existing simultaneously. Centuries ago they planted seeds of many type plants, animals excretion made those seeds grow, rivers and streams gave water to plants, air and rain also made the plants grow to a canopy or a forest. Ancestors nurtured and protected these forests, agriculture, vegetation very much by keeping in mind that their toil and love for nature will preserve this world for future generations to come. But today's generation doesn't see it as they saw. Today's generation destroys jungles, vegetation, rivers, air etc. They decreases the area of agriculture and forest and builds concrete jungles which make the nature and animals extinct. Thus they make life on earth non livable. They construct dangerous industries that pollut air and water. They are struggling to live a happy, harmonious, healthy life together. They don't know love, cooperation, planting seeds, growing them, the need to preserve nature and animals. So ancestors are very much worried and anxious about future. So ancestors are trying to tell grandchildren see this dangerous situation and urgency to recover from it through the eyes of them. Then grandchildren are asking how to realise that situation and how to recover from it. Then ancestors telling them to use their wisdom and love of nature.

I believe this song will create a cultural renaissance in India, to let music to be music, to breakaway from Filmi music, which imposes so much constraint and restriction on quality of music, thanks to illogical demands of film producers and directors. Let India create pop superstars, same like rest of the world, where singers command demi-god status, like Michael Jackson. in India, Singers are just another back stage artists with limited influence and many struggle financially for rest of their life. In comparison, some actors even earn up to 100 crore per film. Let India create an Adele, a Rihanna or a Freddy Mercury.

Meaning of Oppari: Oppari is an ancient form of lamenting in Tamil culture performed (cry singing) by a group of women emotionally when someone lost their loved ones, in which this ancient practice is still exists in Tamilnadu and other states of south India... Formation of Oppari: A group of women form a circle holding each other's shoulder and facing each other and cry singing in a funeral spot.. Content of Oppari: The group of women cry singing the Oppari about the person who passed away, mentioning how good he lived his life in the past, his love towards the family members, his likings, his sacrifice to the family members, his happiness and sorrow, how much the family members loves him too, Praising him for what he did for the nature, everything.. Why Oppari? Oppari cry singing is not only a way of conveying messages to the public related to the deceased person in a funeral ceremony, but also a scientific way of releasing the stress of the person suffering from the loss of their loved ones. i.e. Psychologically helps to deal with emotions .. “I PLANTED FIVE TREES, NURTURED A BEAUTIFUL GARDEN, MY GARDEN IS FLOURISHING BUT YET MY THROAT REMAINS DRY” IS A LAMENTING PHRASE USED IN OPPARI SONG USUALLY PERFORMED IN A FUNERAL PLACE IN TAMIL CULTURE. .

Jyoti Mam & Shruti Mam, this song is dedicated to Mother Nature & Mother Earth. How we are exploiting our resources, & forgetting the one who blessed us with it. Specially, the singer Dhee is the singer of Rowdy Baby song, which is the first south indian song to cross 1 Billion on RU-vid. I'm a big fan of yours from Odisha, India. Love the way you respect & worship music. Loads of love and respect to my sisters.

The title “Enjoy Enjaami” has so much of meaning. To the people who are unfamiliar about the title, “Enjoy” is combination of two words, En + joy (thaayi), narrated by the Rapper Arivu. “En” means “My” in tamil, "thaayi" is actually "Mother" in Tamil. Combinedly it is "My Mother" ... “Enjaami” is combination of two words, En + Jaami. “En” means “My” in tamil, “Jaami” is actually “Saamy” it means “God” in Tamil, combinedly “My God”. “My God” i.e. "Enjaami" is how elderly people call their grand children or their loved ones in Tamil Culture which is so so cute to hear that. Even the farmers and labours use to call their Masters (Landlords) as "Enjaami" as a respect giving. Likewise singer Arivu is called everytime as “Enjaami” by his Grandmother Valliammal affectionately in real life. That respected Grandmother Valliammal is shown in this ENJOY ENJAAMI official video song at the end … take a look… ROCK ENJOY ENJAAMI

I think your reaction to the album is the best of the 1000s posted already. Its great that you spoke about the Maajaa initiative and promoted their channel too. Do you guys know that the villagers performed in the video are from Arivu's native village and one of the elderly women on the video is his own grandma?! May be thats why the album looks so authentic. Great reaction to the great album. Keep it up.

Good you want to know more abt Tamil & thanks for that. FYI: Thatha Thatha = grandfather Partee Partee = grandmother Kalaivettee = Kalai (plough) + Vetee (cutter) So it's about Farmers, cultivation & Agriculture Cuckoo is a real bird that COOS - making the song cuckoo cuckoo in the morning (wake up calls of nature) It sounds just like Dhee does in the video calling onto others. So this cooing bird is called Cuckoo Bird in English just Bcos the bird sings or coos "CUCKOO-CUCKOO" You would have heard of the famous Swiss Cuckoo Bird Clock - it pops out of the clock and goes Cuckoo Cuckoo to sound the hour for the respective time. Annakili is actually Annam (swan) + kizhli (parrot) a name many tamils use to name their girl child meaning beautiful girl (white as swan signifying peace purity & pretty as parrot with nice beautiful eyes n nose) It is just a name like Lilly or Rose describing beauty for a girl child. In reality there is no such one bird but individual birds as in swan (Annam) and parrot (Kilizhi) Cuckoo is a real bird (not just a name to call their children) Annakili is just a name (no such real bird) - describing a beautiful girl See previous comment to know more abt Tamil.

enjaami = en + saami. "en" -> mine and "saami" -> God. The literal meaning of enjaami - "My God". The contextual meaning here -> Grandparents affectionately call their grandchildren "enjaami" which reflects how much they love them(equal to a god). Elders also use this term when trying to console/comfort children as an expression of how much they love them. That different voice that Arivu is singing with in-between is supposed to mimic grandmother's(elders) voice. The lines that were sung using this different voice are meaningful colloquial sayings by rural elders that were passed down from older generations. Another aspect is the way he is singing these lines is using "Oppari" - a traditional form of music that is still used in funerals for lamenting. The music instruments used were traditional Tamil music instruments(all the drums) and the drum elements are of Tamil traditional music not of African tribal music as everybody is assuming. Also the video backdrop with tribal people is supposed to highlight how old the Tamil civilization is. Tamil is one of the oldest classical languages in the world and possibly the oldest civilization with thousands of years of history. Everyone makes tribe elements connections to Africa which is mistaken.

It's got deeper meaning & innuendos that goes beyond just the lyrical meaning (translation or trans-diction) Did u identify the young singer holding the hand of the elder to give support they would carry on with their elder's endeavour the custom of respect & sacrifice for the benefit of one and all including various creature's sustainability let alone survival of humankind in making this world a better place to live in. Modern Living with Older Generation's Traditional Values as one Earthly Family - so let's follow thru with what our ancestors did - living in peace & harmony with Mother Nature.

U got connected with the singing, music composure, the vocalist, rendition and beautiful lyrics that conveys a simple yet powerful message for our eternity - togetherness in diversity with respect for rights for all creatures/creation to live in harmony with us all without exhausting Mother Nature & she will heal and shield us all if not we allow Mother Nature to do her works at her pace The language is Tamil (S.Indian - where is Chennai is based) and just as ARR & u both stating it's just the start n eventually the culmination of other languages will follow from diff global artist & background to make it global - good effort & foresight Cuckoo - is the Cooing sound of the Cuckoo bird calling out (sounds - cuckoo cuckoo) & so the bird was named cuckoo bird.in English Just as this song is calling out to all to come together and live together in harmony as a family by respecting every creature's rights & belonging to be so and also sacrifices made by our elders to ensure the world's sustainability as we are all interdependent and should not exhaust our resources thru our irresponsible acts pushing us towards excessive consumerism directed by egoistic & greedy political leaders & biz entities covering people being displaced for all the bad reason as war, slavery, conflict and the likes n they making livelihood away from as refugees or otherwise due to discrimination Enjaami is colloquially prionounced with a village slang But it's actually EN Sammy (My Dear, My Beloved, My lord) and such is a Tamil endearment term usually used by elders to address their children; esp the grandparents call their grandkids as such Oodiya ... is actually Oodi Va (come running) to me or here (as we beckon come quickly to me) in Tamil language (which is marginally related & spoken in Central African countries too) U identified the young singer holding the hand of the elder to give support to their endeavour of custom of respect & sacrifice for the benefit of one and all including various creature's sustainability let alone survival of humankind

Our Ancestors preserve and protect these all things for us. But in todays greedy, careless, selfish human continuously destroying all important things on Earth. Human actually destroying their future by destroying the Earth. That's not the real humanity....

PARAI DRUMMING: IN THE BEGINNING OF THE SONG, A MAN WEARING A DRUM AROUNG HIS HIP, WILL KEEP DRUMMING SO FAST USING TWO STICKS, IT IS CALLED “PARAI DRUMMING”. THIS PARAI DRUMMING IS A VERY OLD ANCIENT INSTRUMENT USED IN TAMIL CULTURE, WHICH IS STILL IN EXISTENCE IN TAMILNADU AND ALSO OTHER STATES OF SOUTH INDIA. PARAI MUSIC IS AN EMOTIONAL RYTHM CONNECTED IN THE BLOOD OF ANCIENT TAMIL PEOPLE FROM THE VERY BEGINNING TO TILL NOW.. IF PARAI MUSIC IS PLAYED, ANY HUMAN IN THIS EARTH WILL GET STIMULATED TO START MAKING DANCE MOVES, HUMMING, MIND MUSIC, BEYONG THEIR CONSCIOUSNESS. PARAI DRUMMING IS PERFORMED IN TEMPLE FESTIVALS, FUNERALS AND ALSO USED TO MAKE ANNOUNCEMENT IN VILLAGES AND TOWNS, IN VARIOUS THEME RESPECTIVELY. .

The extinct short story in this song, Important, telling brief note about the happy living environment we experience today through the evolution of human beings over hundreds of years. The so-called primitive peoples understood and lived in harmony with nature and transformed it into a musical object. The soil expresses its vibrational feel in the same way as the parasite. The frog always lives only in places where there is water ... Elephants and birds and chickens are the only major cause of deforestation. These are what scholars around the world have said. The face shape / color of our previous humans / families etc .. They are the reason we come to be alive in this world now through their genes even though our present design has changed ..... கடலே, கரையே, வனமே, சனமே, நிலமே, Kulame, Idame, Tadame These are the traces created by the emergence of a race of human beings and all the good and useful ideas of today ..... Natural resources are also important, all natural creations are for life ... This is the summary of the extinct story .. This is the pride of my Tamil language. My Tamil language is the mother of all languages in this world....

feel it is my duty to convey the more or less exact meaning to every one. The mother nature is our great grand mother to every one of us She gave us five elements for us to use ie Space earth water fire and air. That message is conveyed by the lyric I planted five trees and they all grew well. She is also telling us that those elemnts belong not only to human being but to all living things. When she says that even when her all five trees grew well she feels her throat dry. That strikes the meaning that when the mother nature, and our ancestors bequeathed every thing to all living things it is the human only taking ownership of every thi g and leaving living things without any home or habitat. That is also emphasized by the lyric that forest grew from the excretion of all birds and animals and the sweat and blood of our ancestors / But what is happening now. All the forests are becoming multilane roads, towns cities and homes for only human beings and chasing out all other rightful owners of this soil. the word Enjoyee is actually the modified word En Thayee. Tamil grand parents pamper their grand daughters by calling them as their mom. En means my. Thayee means mom. So enThayee is pronounced by the villagers crudly as enjoyee. En Jaami me means my Deity which points to their grandsons/ This song says how our ancestors worked so hard to hand over this earth to us to live in full comfort and reminds us that ther onerous is on every one of us to hand over it to the next generation intact. So it is our duty to ask the question to ourselves. Are we doing the doing the right thing. Is my constant quest for more luxury is squandering accumulated wealth of the labor and efforts left to me by my ancestors? In a nutshell it is call to wake up by the bidrs chirping Cuckoo.

Brief Info on Arivu & Dhee Dhee is Tamil of srilankan Tamil origin (mother) settled in Australia but now moved to Chennai with Step Dad Santhosh the producer of this video .. She can speak Tamil but can't quite read and write it well as she was brought up in Australia Like wise Arivu ancestors were from Tamil Nadu near Kutralam - who were taken tho Ceylon (now Srilanka and not ethnic Srilankan Tamils as Dhees's mother Meenakshi Iyer) workers for tea plantation by the Brits when drought that region and was once again displaced after centuries from Srilanka by Srilankan Gov after it got independence from the British. Which was messed up by the Brits in not sorting the equal rights first as agreed by all parties which was eventually rescinded by the Sinhalese Bandaranayaka PM period By forcefully removing Tamil of its official status n forcefully inserting Singalese language while removing the Tamil language off school media and how ancient Tamil library and its literal works and arts were burnt down to wipe out Tamil historical traces and that set of the dispute leading to disharmony and friction within the 3 societies -,thanks to one leader (just as the division of India into Pakistan all Bcos Brits messed it up) ... ok enough of this Arivu tries to narrate the difficulties of people being forcefully displaced and so the importance of ancestors and tiger suede rings and contributions made for their future generation S n that we shd all respect the rights of everyone be it animal plants or creatures as we are one if we become one with Mother Nature Arivu lamenting denotes that and also he attempts to sing in his grandmother's old creaky voice at certain segment.
