As a type 8, I vehemently defend type 7’s and think that the things that they love are undervalued. My type 7 mother is the best you could ask for - and as I’m getting older and genuinely observing her I see every stereotypical 7 attribute fits her like a glove.. but fun and pleasure are not just frivolous activities to type 7’s. My mother truly connects and forges bonds with people through sharing fun experiences. She grew up in rural Mississippi in the 50’s as the youngest of 13, a black woman who lived in abject poverty. So she loves beautiful things and beautiful moments and she overspends and overindulges but it’s so completely understandable. We live in a world with a lot of Eeyores so I appreciate Tiggers fully.

Dr. Tom, I would like to thank you for helping us. I discovered the enneagram a couple of years ago and your videos have been a lifeline for me. My oldest son has ADHD, autism and is a 7w8. I use your videos as a tool to help him overcome the challenges that he faces daily. You are such an inspiration to him, as a type 7 yourself, you show him that he CAN do it too. We watched this video together and he listens to you in ways I feel like I can never get through to him. I appreciate you and all the work you do. Thank you, and much love from this spazzy 6w5 mama. ❤

I have been following you for years. I am a 7 and I feel like I use both wings depending on if it’s family (6) and more work wise (8). I have learned sooooo much and I am constantly telling everyone about enneagram. Everyone I work with I’m like take this test and let’s figure it out lol. I want to take your class so bad but as a 7 I have a couple other things going on at the same time. 🤦🏼‍♀️. This is so me and I learn something new every video. Thank you for pouring out your knowledge to us. On a side note you called me out 100% minus addiction ish . I’ve never had an addictive personality to drugs/alcohol. Im addicted to vacations/ self help books and shopping 😬

Something to do, someone to love and something to look forward to, WOWWWWW. I had a moment recently where I told myself I was not going to do anything social on the weekend and it was the most painful internal thing for me to do. I cried and cried and felt so lonely and disconnected from people. Couldn’t connect to myself without shaming myself for the self pity. Couldn’t even watch tv to distract myself from the pain of feeling like no one wanted my good energy around them (bc who doesn’t need my positive fun self) WOW. HELP ME hhahahaha

I started out believing I was an eight, and then I believed that I was a three and now I feel more understood than ever by knowing that I am a seven and I’m gonna keep exploring this

Great video! I’m saving it because it’s spot on. You asked about being overstimulated and yelling- I get this. Sometimes if an idea is right there or I’m excited about seeing something (seriously ridiculous things), I will shout it right out. This is hard for my quieter friends and spouse who have sensitive ears and feel confused and startled as to why I was so loud and abrupt. I also don’t understand why one wouldn’t choose fun if they could. I am generally the fun one. The last two and a half years were the hardest I’ve had and for only the second time in my life, I was not in a great spot. I had lots of hard feelings that I had to sit with and (it was terrible). I would rather have sat myself on fire I think. It also was tough because my spouse (the most enneagram 1 you’ve ever met) also had deep depression so I had to keep the family afloat. We are in a better spot now but I definitely understood and felt seen with everything in this video. Thanks for your work.

I’ve read that 6s are often susceptible to addiction and addictive behaviors to escape their minds.
