it makes me mad that no one realizes how smart 7s genuinely are they tend to be extremely quick and open thinkers, yet so childlike and fun. Such an interesting type so lovable
very good video I enjoy it a lot, hard work! as a seven I miss some more mention about de dark side of us, for example our narcisism, addictive and selfdestructive behavior when we are not health or maybe that we are natural liars, I think many people (including ourselves) thinks that everything in sevens are so good and brilliant... many people told me you are so lucky... but they are not seeing de hole picture.
I quoted Albert Camus at work and this lady, who is always dismissing me asked if it was Dr. Seuss. I let her have it. I joke a lot but I’m not a dope.
Stay tuned for a new Type Seven video soon (hopefully), if I can get it out of RU-vid Copyright purgatory. I think you’ll be pleased with the intelligence of these Sevens.
I can't tell you the joy and solemn pride this comment brings me. A great transition, if done properly, should go unnoticed to the untrained eye. But... we know...
Thanks! I'm pretty terrible at self-promotion so anywhere you wanna share it is much appreciated! It's just a passion project, and I think it could be a valuable resource for the Enneagram community. Just need some "influencers" to find it...
Along the Fives, it was toughest for me finding good female Seven characters (ironically I found an abundance of female Eights). I’ve got a running list going for the next series, so if you have any female Sevens in mind let me know!
@@TypeCast I'm not surprised. I think there are more female Sevens in real life than in entertainment! I think there can be some overlap with the "Manic Pixie Dream Girl" type, like Claire in Elizabethtown and Sara in Sweet November.
1:45 "Sevens are at home among the tastes, colors, sounds and textures of the material world." This is probably inaccurate as a Se-blind in mbti. Indulgence that Sevens used as a form of distraction doesn't only come from physical and raw/ concrete experience but can be also through abstract and immaterial reality. Enneagram is the motivating forces in the depths of the psyche unlike MBTI that deals with how we perceived the reality which is inconsistent with the quoted sentence.
Certainly Sevens (whether healthy or unhealthy) can be connected with the abstract and immaterial, but ALSO at home in the textures of the material world. The two don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
Sevens happen to be both connected with Se and Ne. ExxP as a whole are most likely to be 7’s so half of the descriptions here are that of Ne and half were that of Se because both ESXP and ENXP are over-represented in this category.
@@SaccharineCHNOS Thanks! I'm looking forward to doing another Seven video eventually. There's other aspects of the Seven that didn't come across in this one. I think the Seven is often misunderstood... by me included!
@@TypeCast Ooh! excited for that! Yeah I feel like we get a bad rep or are seen as shallow, callous, or even stupid a lot of the time. And don't get me wrong, I often find myself in friction with other 7s that do seem to fit that mold of the partier/prankster/energizer bunny so I have met them, but I often can't relate to the memes. And there are always those that come to you for a good time but don't think that you have "real" feelings or ever get sad!
When trying to figure out someone’s Type, I usually try to think about “What do they need?” As a One, I need to be right and good. For Sevens, it seems to be “the need to avoid pain.” Does that resonate with you personally? Or is there some other need that fits you better?
Oh please tell me you are working on finishing all the types. I find these to be extremely helpful in understanding how each of them works. I just searched for type one and was sad to see you didn’t have that out yet.
@UmbraCrux, you're in luck! Click on my channel name to go to the main channel page. I've got a video for each Type, and am starting work now on Round 2 now. Or you can just click on this link: ru-vid.com
This is the most accurate description of my personality like me and my friends are planning a trip and I feel like I am becoming a bit overbearing and expecting them to have the same sort of enthusiasm I have regarding this plan. Since a few of our past plans were cancelled by them I am also making quite a few sarcastic comments as well and I really want to not. Now I feel validated but also motivated to work on the negative aspects of being a 7! Great video ✨
Losing Williams was tragic, and it's interesting how Carrey has very much "moved towards 5" for a while now. He's definitely not bouncing off the walls like he used to. The documentary "Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond" is fascinating.
@@TypeCast I think that doc showed how much 7s search for deep meaning in life and the universe. Something that people don't often think about 7s on the surface or doesnt get brought up much.
@@SaccharineCHNOS Definitely! I want to find some clips that show the "intelligent/logical" side of Sevens, which I think most people don't normally associate with them. If you have any suggestions for clips of Sevens that resonate with you... I'm all ears!
@@TypeCast Hmm... off the top of my head I can't think of any that show that specifically but the seven in film I relate most to is Clementine from Eternal Sunshine and maybe Summer from 500 days. I also think Ariel is a good example of a 7. I've also noticed that people come to me when they want to talk about horrible trauma and abuse??? or need a problem fixed. Something that has puzzled me over the years. You wouldn't think that a 7 would be the go-to for that, right?
It’s subjective. I think a good case could be made for either. She’s in my Four video, but I’m sure I could pull clips that would work in my Five video. The point isn’t to specifically Type her, but rather to use short clips to demonstrate certain aspects of each Type.
So many of these characters act like a Rorschach test… we see what we want to see. I mean obviously some characters are unquestionably one specific type. Hermione Granger is a One, Lisabeth Salander is a Five, etc… but for the most part I try to just find the “lesson“ from the character. “What can I learn about a given Type based on this character, how they live, the results they get, etc.” But regardless it’s always fun trying to figure out which Type most likely fits a character.
He was on the original list but didn't make the final cut. Partially because I wasn't sure of where he'd fit, although 7 is probably a good candidate. I'll make sure he (and some other Star Wars characters) make it into Round 2!
@@TypeCast You're welcome! I hope that you like it. It has some material that is..contentious..but I would not let it stop you from enjoying the series. It's more than worth it.
Personally I’m not big on Tritypes but if people find value in it then more power to them. There’s no “right way” to study and understand the Enneagram. Regardless, I can’t make a video that’s 12 hours long showing every conceivable variation and nuance of every Type. It’s just a general overview. You can check out my Type Seven Subtypes for other flavors.
The guy who played Gilligan on Gilligan’s Island, who is a math professor at Honolulu university I think it was. And he had a son who had autism. People see a class clown running around, when is a lot really going on down deep.
Thanks! And yes, next I’m planning to do some “case study” videos that will take a deep dive into a single character for an entire video. But I have lots of leftover clips that went unused and some new ideas since I worked on these, so I’m sure I’ll do another round of the Type-specific videos as well. Stay tuned!
I don't think all sevens are looking for sensing experiences like it says in the video (or at least what I assume is from the video). I think being a seven is just about wanting to enhance your life experience the most out of all needs or maybe overextending that on that one need. But yeah not everyone is the same
Have you read the full Type descriptions? Https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-2 Https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-7 How would you describe yourself?
Have you read the Type descriptions on the Enneagram Institute website? I'd check those out and see if one of them "punches you in the face." www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-descriptions/
I'm a 4, married to a 7 haha God help us all!.. But on another serious note lol, we watched your vids together yesterday for the 4 and this one for the 7 and it finally made sense why all the misunderstanding and disconnect, it was definitely a red pill moment lol. Now we're just like where do we go from here... We deeply love one another or else how could a 4 and a 7 marry?! We just need some guidance on how to bridge the gap between our worlds. I do believe it can be done.
I highly recommend “The Enneagram Guide to Waking Up“ by Beatrice Chestnut. It’s really helpful for doing internal work with the Enneagram and could help bring some clarification for both of you about each other. It’s also interesting to check out the type combinations on the Enneagram Institute website. I am a one married to a four and the description of our combination is uncannily accurate. www.enneagraminstitute.com/relationship-type-4-with-type-7
Well… my plan is to do some “case study” videos, taking a deeper dive into one specific character for an entire video. And I’ve got plenty of leftover clips/characters that I didn’t use in “Round 1”, plus an ongoing list of new ideas. So I’ll eventually do a Round 2 for each Type. One step at a time though…
So the hard part was when we got to the 7 going to 1. I don’t want to see it I don’t want to see it. If I fall asleep now maybe I can dream about something pleasurable! ❤️
@@TypeCast 7 move to 1 in stress.. when we become healthier we become more like healthy 5s. I didn’t sleep, I went on a RU-vid rabbit hole and forgot I was tired. Will try again now. Night night!
That’s the traditional understanding of the “Arrows”, but more and more teachers (from what I’ve seen/heard/read) are moving away from the “you go one direction in stress and one direction in security” model. Both Arrows for each Type can be resources of health and unhealth. For example, as a One I go to Four in “stress”. But I also draw a lot of positive resources from Four as well… depth, creativity, uniqueness. And at Seven (my growth in “health”), I have to be careful not to overindulge and constantly distract myself. I like to think of the Arrows more as resources that can be drawn from but also misused. It’s two other types that each type has a “special relationship“ with. At least that’s my view of it.
@@TypeCast ‘being careful not to overindulge and constantly distract’ sounds like the stringent parameters of the one. What I have experienced by being raised by an average/unhealthy 1 is that an average/unhealthy 7 really really aggravates them. But when I see them going to the natural joy of the 7 it’s wonderful to witness. Average/unhealthy 7s are overly indulgent and constantly distracted. It’s my understanding that when 1s go to 7 it’s in the healthy range of the 7.
I’ve never lived with one, but I’m sure an unhealthy Seven would get on my nerves! Every day I strive to “move towards Seven” as much as I can… loosen up, have more fun (or any fun at all), be spontaneous. But there are also some unhealthy Seven traits I definitely resonate with. I think whatever “system” or understanding works for someone and helps them grow (in themselves and towards others), I’m all for it!
@@dot.888 I've got a running list going for Round 2. Although next I'm planning to try some "case study" videos where I do a deeper analysis of a single character for a whole video. Stay tuned!
I disagree, although he’s a fictional character so he could have exaggerated personality traits a real person wouldn’t have. I think he’s too “transparent” to be a Three. There’s no mask there, no attempts to fit himself to be what others think he should be. He’s 100% himself, and driven more by excitement than the need to succeed. Everything for him is *literally* the best thing ever, and he has a difficult time with anything negative (hence using Ben as the “bad cop” when delivering bad news to municipalities)… he only wants to focus on the positive. Also, “excess”. If a diet is good, then a lifelong super diet is better. If a jog over lunch is good, a 10-mile run is better. That’s a classic Seven, although of course not every Seven is exactly like that.
I'm not a big fan of "pride" as a description of the Two to begin with but even that aside, Mozart is about the most perfect example of a Seven that ever lived. I've never seen him Typed anywhere as anything other than a Seven.
