I don't agree that 4s deliberately try to craft a persona that's different from everyone else's. I believe that we end up being perceived as weirdos just because we're so committed to being authentic. We pursue everything that feels real and meaningful to us, even when that leads us down a path that no one else is on.
I hear what you're saying, although functionally in the end it sorta works out to be the same thing. Speaking only anecdotally from the 4's I've known in my life, I agree that "radical authenticity" is a huge part of it, but I also can't imagine a 4 being... "radically authentic just like everybody else." There's something of a contrarianism behind it, in my personal experience. As a Type 1 with a strong connection to Type 4, I personally feel that contrarianism... if the unwashed masses are into something, it must be garbage! I'm sure that's not true of all Type 4's though.
Type 8 is not about fights. Its about bringing balance. Fighting is a desperate way to show it. Its a double multiple of 4, which by the way is also a representation of stability. Which is a derivitive of 2 which represents connection. So it goes like connection, stability and balance. Thats what you are looking for here. 8 in the eight trigram represents balance, from where the ying and yang symbol comes from. So you should have represented the number 8 in form of balance. Instead of conflict. Bad representation i would say.
@@p10228 No apologies needed! If a Four doesn't cry watching this video, I probably didn't do my job right. The ending makes me cry and I'm not even a Four!
@@TypeCast yes! The ending made me cry… I’ve spent next hour listening to sad songs and thinking about my life…. This makes me a four, right? But I’m not sure)
Thanks a million for the information.I have a question.I believe i am compassionate and emphatic. But,i very dislike(i used "Dislike"because i dont exactly know how it feels) intimate relationships with people. In addition while with some of my friends i feel like an outsider. So,are these a 5 thing?
Those could very well be Type 5 traits, although with the Enneagram what distinguishes each Type is much more about what's going on *internally* that's driving the behavior, not the external behavior itself. For example, it's conceivable that you could have nine different people (one of each Type) who all dislike intimate relationships, but they all feel that way for very different reasons. Now to be fair, that specific trait is much less likely with certain Types (probably 2 and some 6's) and more likely with others (probably 5 and 8). I'd recommend checking out the Type descriptions on the Enneagram Institute website and seeing if any of them really "jump out and grab you." Here's the link to the Type 5 description... www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-5/ This is the way that I recommend for anyone to figure out their Type. Taking a "test" can get you pointed in the right direction and get the options narrowed down, but reading through the descriptions of each Type is the best way to figure out your own. Check out that Type 5 description and let me know what you think!
(Social/Navigating Fours feel] shame at not measuring up to group standards. "It's that all eyes are upon you when you walk into a room. They are not adoring eyes. It's never that you do anything improper, it's that they can see that you're wrong inside."…… Jesus Christ this read me like a book😭
Well.. I'm not really qualified to speak to that, but I'm assuming that since you're commenting on the Type Four video that you identify as a Four? From an Enneagram perspective, I *highly* recommend Beatrice Chestnut's "The Enneagram Guide to Waking Up." It's the most simple, practical book I've found for real growth through the lens of the Enneagram. For Type Four, that has to do with finding ways to integrate pain, shadow, suffering, inadequacy, etc. Obviously I don't know the specifics of your situation but I'd encourage you to press on. There's always hope and growth.
You're work on these video's are incredible! Where are the type 2 and type 8 video's though in the 'enneagram type in film & series' playlist? Van only find the subtype variants of the type 2 and 8🤔
the vibes in this video is immaculate, the dialogues can be kinda calming, i played this video while drawing and it works as a wonderful background noise! edit:8:37 song?
I went and saw Contact in the theater by myself when I was 13. No family or friends wanted to see it with me. And I felt a deep connection with Ellie Arroway within minutes. Read the book afterward. Became obsessed with Sagan. Years later had a friend of my sister force me to take an enneagram and found I was a 5. Naturally, dove into that to learn as much as I could. Not sure how I even found this channel though. Now, seeing this video, it helps me make sense of myself a little bit more. Thank you.
idk if i’m a 7 or a 2 and it’s driving me insane 🥲 i feel like i’m more self interested than a 2 and i always seek thrill and pleasure and want to avoid pain and i’m always planning and need to look toward to the future, i find it hard to stand still and i’m very easily bored and impatient. im afraid of working and having responsibilities put on me bc i want to be free to do whatever whenever and have constant fun. my mind is never set on the present. i’m not as sacrificial as a 2, but i have a strong desire for love and i’m very image conscious so idk 🥲
I mean… that sounds like 95% Seven and 5% Two, lol. Twos aren’t the only ones who have a strong desire for love, so that’s not a deal breaker. Did you watch my other videos for Seven and Two? Which of the characters most strike you as feeling like yourself?
@@TypeCast You're welcome! I hope that you like it. It has some material that is..contentious..but I would not let it stop you from enjoying the series. It's more than worth it.
I think it’s wild how all of the personality test have almost all told me the same thing. I’m a enneagram 4, INFJ, life path 11, and Aquarius dominant in my astrology chart. 😂 but I love this it makes me feel good to know I have been crazy my entire life I always knew I felt things a lot deeper than other people and I was different.
“goddamnit what do you want?!” “…i have to go” NOOOOO ITS TOO TRUE😭💀 also chidi is literally me lmao. and cal not saying anything and then leaping out of the car to avoid confrontation? please😭💀
Just found your channel. I booked a tritype consultation with Katherine Fauvre, and she typed me as an 863, Social 8, which might be rare in women. Would like to see more videos with Social 8 women.
Apologies for the all-male cast in this one. I originally made this video as just a one-off, because of the Godfather containing all three type eight subtypes. But then I decided to try the same concept for each type, just not with the same film. At some point I would like to go back and do an alternate type eight version with all females to balance it out.
@TypeCast No need to apologize. It was a great montage of different examples of all 3 subtypes of 8s from the same movie and the same family. The Godfather (or any mafia movie) is a great example. Thank you for showing the differences. I'm from Texas, and I think a lot of Southern women are 8s. At least the ones I know: big heart, big hair, and big energy. Very charismatic, protective, nurturing, and tough as nails. 💅 Our nickname is, "A force to be reckoned with."
@TypeCast I must add that after talking to Katherine, she said counterphobic 6s THINK they're 8s. Tritypes with 6+8 is always counterphobic. She says cp6s can appear "more 8 than an 8." Celebrity examples of a cp6 are Malcolm X and 50 Cent.
@@KimEvazians And good cooks, too (from what I hear)! Yes, 8's and CP6's are often mixed up (understandably). I just had someone comment on my other Type 8 video that they thought a lot of those characters are actually CP6. Lol. I disagree but these characters can be quite subjective. I have Malcolm X as a CP6 example in my Type Six video. Also if you check out my Type Six Subtypes video, I use Antoine Fisher as the Transmitting (Sexual) CP example. That character is a great example of a person who might look 8-ish on the outside but is actually driven by Fear rather than a need for Power/Control.
@TypeCast Yes, I can say that I am definitely in charge of the kitchen and can make a supremely satisfying meal out of random forgotten foods found in someone else's pantry + fridge + garden. 🍅🥬🧄🍝🥖🥗 (If they let me take over 😉.) I will check out your 6 videos. The misconception about 8s is the need for control. We don't necessarily want to control others (unless if you're in our world like part of our job responsibility or our child). We just don't like being controlled, especially by incompetent people. We are not power-seeking, but are constantly surrounded by people who like to latch onto us because they are seeking power, protection, resources, or whatever to make themselves feel more safe and secure.
Maybe for future videos, you can probably make a comparison of types through this format. Sometimes some people struggle with finding their type, they might be stuck between two types.
my dad is a 9 and my mom is a 2. the thing that upsets my mom when they argue, is that she doesn’t feel heard. my dad kind of just shuts off. he doesn’t even seem like he’s there! that crazy stupid part reminded me of it.
I identify as a 6w7 and though i am not at my full potentional as still let fear rule my life there have been instances whee my liberties and rights were defamated on and surpised my own self as i rose from the shadows into the light and became a lion instead of a mouse. I suppose for a 6 to overcome something we simply have to know when to draw the line. 😊
This confirms I'm a So 5 but on a path of development. Thank you. 😊 btw, I love Lisbeth Salander character so much. Rooney Mara herself is also an Sp 5 from my observation.
Have you read the Type descriptions on the Enneagram Institute website? I'd check those out and see if one of them "punches you in the face." www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-descriptions/
I just took an Enneagram test and tied between type 1 and type 3. After watching this, I truly feel a type 1. Thank you so much for all the work that you do.
My mum is a enneagram 9, an amazing woman who has been through way too much. I always wondered why she wouldn't leave our abusive step dad growing up, it makes a bit more sense now know her type
