Enneagram Types at Job Interviews

as a 7 i can confirm: I come into interviews like yes I've been published, yes I doubled majored and triple minored in under four years, yes i completed 4 internships, yes i'm an artist that can code, yes i speak mandarin and french, and no I will not stay at this job for long but while i'm here i will kick ass.

I am a type 5 and job interviews scare me because I always doubt I have the best qualifications or am the best fit for the job. I am going into my senior year of undergrad and am by no means ready to enter the workplace. I want to continue school just so I feel more secure in my knowledge.... but hey that might just be my type 5 speaking

I love the last one for 9 oh my god....it's absolutely true, ask me about my goals or ambitions and I go blank. Actually ask me a lot of things about myself and I don't know what to say!

I'm able to conduct myself pretty well in an interview, but as a 9 I can say that was accurate for my internal struggle during the interview haha

There must be an unexplainably high number of 2s amongst 40+ year old women in Minnesota

As a 5w4, it took me a while to becomes as confident as the 7s and 8s. Interviews used to definitely go like that for me! It took a year of applying to hundreds of jobs and completing SO many interviews to get good at selling myself and knowing my worth. 5s, you did the research and you’re smarter than most people! Don’t forget it!

I’m a 9 the struggle is real. 😩 Ask us a question and our brains freakout because we feel the pressure hahaha. Too much pressure! Haha.

as i 9 i FELT THAT also i noticed in the comments 9s saying they related to 5 or vice versa and the reason is 9s usually get mistyped as 5s bc they tend to want to fill their ‘void’ w knowledge. i thought i was a 5w4 for a while. i’m also a wing 1 if u couldnt tell

As a 7 I also have trouble answering questions like "what is your greatest ambition of life?" They're just too deep, lol. I'm like "I have to pick *one* ?"

To all the 9’s out there: find a long list of potential job interview questions on the internet - or make your own by making a list of all the questions you can find (my job consultant handed me out 5-6 pages full of all types of questions which they had made themselves). Then answer all the questions out loud as if you were at a job interview and do this several times, almost until you can say all your answers by heart. Take notes with a few keywords to each question if you like. Your communication skills for job interviews will I-M-P-R-O-V-E! You’ll be able to answer any question because you’ve already formed answers to so many potential questions that, even if the questions that comes up aren’t exactly the same as the ones you answered back home, your brain will be able to quickly create an answer that’ll suit this new question too. And also, you will look so much more confident because you’re prepared. I’ve gotten so many compliments for my communication skills at job interviews after I started doing this, and I landed an internship at a big international company, where I’m a part-time marketing assistant now (beside my studies).

3 here I've read just about every interviewing trick in existence. I don't really take a job unless the interviewer's trying to impress me. Also my #1 interviewing technique is "flipping the interview" where I ask questions that get you to explain your history and pitch to me why the job is a good fit. And then I take my time to think about it, can't really rush in because "in this stage of my career I have a lot of great options, but my number one goal is finding the right place to help me take that next step"

I'm a 9 and I don't think I related to this... I work my self up for interviews before I go. I remind myself I'm a Bad B and everyone wants to hire me bc of my great qualities I have to offer... To much? 😂

Smell branding... yes! That is a type 4 job I never knew I wanted but definitely do! =D

Like, constantly downgrading myself and downplaying my accomplishments because to me they're "not that great" or "not what they're looking for" until eventually I'm like "why am I even doing this I'm not useful at all why would they want to hire me"

I'm not too sure about the 5 one. I'm a 5w4 and the 4 one, I would go in there and Ace the interview, but then I would panic when I left about not being the right person for the job, lol. The 5 in me, hhhmmmm, well, I guess it would fit. *Don't mind me, lol*

The four languages on the resume? Right, well I've been speaking two my whole life, but haven't attended a school in one, so I'd say that one's more conversational. Oh yeah, had some years of immersion with the third, I can communicate what I need to I suppose, but surely there are others who can both speak with greater technical accuracy and write with more confidence. Oh, the fourth? Yeah, I worked in a couple countries where that was a primary language, so talking with neighbors, shopkeepers-- all in the fourth language. But really, I'm barely what one might call semi-fluent, really I shouldn't have included that on there. Any other languages? Well, I can greet in a few more, say thank you and goodbye, that of-- oh, you were kidding. In that case, forget it. Forget all of it. I mean, what does it really mean to be fluent? I'm barely fluent in one language. Surely this wouldn't be what you need for your sales associate in this multicultural city.
