In 2019 I was in Spain, I went to visit Sad Hill Cemetery (the place where the final scene was shot). It is a secluded place, far away in a valley, close to Santo Domigo de Silos. I was there, it was a sunny morning, I looked around, there wasn't even a soul in that place, I was completely alone. I put this song to play on my cell phone, and I started running around the cemetery, like Tuco.

Okay, Ennio Morricone, one of my favourite composers and this particular composition is Ecstasy of Gold (from the Italian L'estasi dell'Oro of course) and you're absolutely right, George, it's from the wonderful spaghetti western, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly with Clint Eastwood - it was my father's favourite film and I love it too! Ecstasy of Gold is very familiar to me because Metallica always play it at the beginning of their concerts and I've watched quite a few on RU-vid.This is a brilliant performance of the music, really enjoyed it. I've got a lot of Morricone music downloaded, namely music from other westerns including A Fistful of Dollars, A Few Dollars More and Once Upon A Time in the West - just so good! He of course composed music for loads of other films including another one of my favourites, The Untouchables. Morricone - unbelievable talent. I went to the filming set in Mercia, Spain on the back of the music to these films. Took a walkman (back in the day) with this on and pretended to shoot Lee Van Cleef. And I'd do it again.

The pianist is Gilda Buttà, the woman who played the piano parts in The Legend of 1900 (the hands we see play the piano in the movie are hers) This is L'Estasi dell'oro from the movie Il Buono, il brutto, il cattivo by Sergio Leone (The exctasy of gold from the movie The Good, the bad, the ugly), the last movie of the Dollar Trilogy and yes, there was Clint Eastwood. Anyway they was in Piazza San Marco in Venice and this is NOT opera! And the opera could be done outside, the Arena of Verona hosted every year the Opera season and is an open-air opera house.
