Enterprise-D Crash 

9:26 Hey, imagine if that window in the ceiling had smashed at some point during the seven seasons of TNG. I wouldn't like to have been on the bridge if that had happened.

Was great until the stupid music right at the climax. Had to stop right then and look for another video...

This had to the be one of the WORST effects sequences ever filmed for a Star Trek movie OR TV episode... It wasn't bad enough that in a way they were symbolically spitting on the end of the Roddenberry era of Trek BUT they also wrecked what was an iconic version of the Enterprise, like it or not. This was a poor choice of plot development to put into what was the first of four TNG movies. Those story developments aside, it was a very poor-looking, just very fake effects sequence from the time the saucer hit the atmosphere to the very obvious, blown-up section of the dish that tore up the ground as it slid to a stop. This sequence has NEVER looked convincing to me, whether it was in theater or on home video. Now that I've gotten more used to the Enterprise-D over the years, the shape of the ship isn't the problem... It's the lighting issues. Sad to say but the model itself looks more impressive in real life WITHOUT the lighting on than it ever did WITH the lights on!
