As a mental health professional I think there are a lot of thin people who take self worth from the belief of “at least I’m not fat”. Sadly, they believe that they are “not fat” because they are living such a better lifestyle than people who are overweight (in many if not most cases that’s not true). I think many get angry about these new tools because If you make it so that everyone can be fit then you’ve taken away their self worth. The thing they believe makes them better. They aren’t “special” anymore. The feeling of all of the anger posts is that of people yelling “THEY’RE CHEATING!!” I’m glad that we can all experience the good health that genetics have provided so many people. I also can’t wait to live in a world where people can strive to be more than “thin” to feel like they matter.

I think that a big problem with weight training for many people is time. I used to work on a military base, and PT (physical training) was required for all active duty military personnel. The base had a large, well equipped gym, and anyone who worked on base could use it. I was a contractor, but my boss was a retired Marine Corps officer. He was very supportive of his employees incorporating PT into their day as well. In fact, our office was next to the gym. Let me be clear, he didn’t just pay lip service to “supporting our fitness efforts”. He literally gave us an hour each day for PT, just like the soldiers got. As a result, our team became quite fit. We were immersed in a fitness culture, so keeping the routine was easy. Many employers talk about supporting their employees fitness efforts, but the reality is that they still want you to work tons of overtime and you still have family commitments.

So glad I found Dr. Moore. here's my story; I started semaglutide before having knee replacement surgery for some weight loss (I've struggled for years) doing keto, mediteranian and paleo diets. I've been low carb (bad carbs) for more than 20 years. Within 2 weeks of starting my knee pain was reduced by 85-90%! Well I didn't put 2+2 together for another few weeks, but when I did some research I found this was one of the benefits to taking GLP-1. OMG why did no one tell me this! So 3 months later, I'm still on a low dose and doing well. And yes there's some weight loss as well, very slow which is fine with me. Another benefit for me, I lost my taste for cheese and meat. I did a test on dairy twice, cheese and sour cream. OMG that was a huge wake up for me. I had massive pain spikes when I ate dairy. Meat I haven't tested again, I'm very happy eating lots of different beans, chick peas, TVP/tofu, lots of veg and fruits. Really the on'y thing different from pervious eating habits is ditching meat and cheese. I might add meat back in again, but right now I don't feel I need it. And no, I've had no muscle loss so far, actually it's up 3%.

I have pcos . I eat low carb clean and consistently weight training for 20 months . I'm 5 5 and 169 pounds. I haven't been able to lose fat. It's very frustrating when people say excercise and limit calories. It doesn't work. The positive is that I do feel stronger but would like to melt some fat given all the effort .

1st month on .25 Ozempic. I’m 62 yr old. But full of life. Unfortunately 3 years bedridden cause heart. Cardiologist gave up on me. Husband and I set up heart surgeon I had bypass w in a week. diabetic 1, twice heart attack, heart failure, chronic diabetic neuropathy even in bladder. I’m sure there’s a list to add to these. Ozempic no side effects changed my eating. Example eating food in general making myself as close intake of required balanced with a 500 caloric deficit. 5th week increased to .50. Exactly a week, projectile vomiting if I didn’t have head down in bags, then towel then garb can. Husband freaking out, my hand up like hold on a minute. I don’t know where this content came from but my intestines. Lol. If I had my head straight up I was in fear it would fully twist all the way around. Ha. No taste no smell. When stopped it stopped. No nausea. Okay. My body has been in a different funk everyday now 7 was. I’ve been going to a supervised cardiac workouts 3 days a week. Energy In 2 days I dropped 3 pounds a day. Nothing until now. Now I’m encouraged. Interesting the stupid scales is what does this. My mom keep all us girls growing up on a scale afraid we’d gain a lb. Anyway you are awesome. I’ve listened over several times. Oh you talked as fast as I do. Love it. I’m still like so clueless on how to get the nutrition I need in a day in food not smoothies I love raw. Vegan for 14 yrs until bedridden. I gained 75 lbs. not icecream not chips not fast food. I had hard time eating. Bedridden with husband having to roll me over and help physically to get up. I was dying Nov 1 2023 we got all my wills and burial ins together. The hardest thing. My husband is 8 yrs younger than me. (yes I was all that and then some - cougar). He’s precious a friend also. We looked at each other during this , both of us said NO. I told him I have so much more like. Within a week I had bypass, went to a cardiac surgeon, he put me in hospital immediately. I wouldn’t put my worse enemy thru that. Dr Tyna YOUare an Angel. A blessing, you are helping me to figure out WTH is going on in my body. I Love it. Thank You so much. I, no my husband and I love you so much.

I just started semaglutide at a low dose (the compounded version w B12). So far so good with any side effects but I'm careful to eat plenty of protein (goal is 100mg/day) and drink plenty of water and get exercise. My story is similar to yours in that I've always struggled with keeping the weight off, heavy weightlifter former runner... VERY clean diet.... still struggled. When I hit 47 we had a layoff on top of a child diagnosed with mental illness that sent me into perimenopause and a high stress situation. Did bioidenticals for as long as they would work for me. I saw the weight coming on and I couldn't stop it. I went lower and lower in carbs to try to control it along with heavier exercise (weights and P90x) until I sustained a sports injury that took 7 yrs to correctly diagnose and a subsequent surgery. By this point I had gone through menopause completely. Then I did carnivore as a last resort to try to keep it off which worked for a time but I can't stay on such a limited diet - I love my fruits and veggies too much and love to garden. I don't eat the processed low carb foods hardly ever. If I can't eat ingredients only I can make my own low carb treats from real ingredients at home. I credit my low carb/high protein lifestyle with keeping my a1c low as I now have 50 lbs to lose and I'm 5'1". My bloodwork is green even with all this weight but my arthritis pain has increased. I have really high hopes for the GLP-1 treatment. I am so tired of people assuming that excess weight means bad behavior exclusively. I did literally everything I could to keep the weight off, nevermind lose it. Went without sugar and grains for YEARS. I've done every single diet from low fat to low carb (with no processed foods) and my body always sees initial success only to have my body adjust to the same non-responsive patterns. I have suspected PCOS for decades. My mom has it and both daughters have it. I am told I don't have it yet I have ALL the symptoms and signs. Like I said, high hopes. Thank you for your videos on this. I was VERY concerned with using this - I don't take any other meds. I really wanted to control my weight with food and exercise only and it just doesn't work for me. My husband was astounded and told me that the way I eat I should be very very thin. He couldn't understand it either so.... thank you for all the information you are sharing!

I used Ozempic in the past but stopped. After listening to your podcast, I will restart it now, but, I will include a multivitamin and mineral supplement, eating greens, fruits and protein and drink lots of water. When I took it before, it was hard to drink lots of water. Also, start with a small amount of Ozempic or divide my dose to 2 times per week hoping to avoid the nausea I experienced. Before, I did not take it with making healthy choices. And I will do strength training 2x a week too. Thank you!

What is the best way to find a really good Functional Medicine doctor? I love your content. I was totally against Ozempic until I heard you on Dr Mark Hyman's podcast. It's exciting to hear about all the incredible benefits! I'm normally on top of the MSM's propaganda and don't drink the koolaide, but I hate to admit that because I heard Candace Owens talk about it negatively, I had a bad taste in my mouth for Ozempic. I'm so glad I stumbled upon your debate about it. Since I hit 50, I'm feeling some stiffness at times and I'd love to experience some of the benefits from it you speak of. I'm following your advice and getting my hormones in order and I'm very much leaning towards trying it for a variety of reasons. Thanks so much for all the work you do!

Hey, I just wanted to add that I have gotten to a point where I am obese because I have given up sometimes. Not all the time. If I gave up all the time, I would be in worse shape. It seems like trying and trying again is the conventional wisdom for success in life, in many areas, but the weight management portion of our lives in the modern world is pretty unforgiving.

Just an FYI for others in Canada, compounding for these products is not available here, according to my compounding pharmacy, so we are limited to the prepackaged doses. I'm looking forward to starting in a couple weeks, still working on my 'pre-work'. I want to do my best to minimize possible side effects and I'm crossing my fingers that the 0.25 dose is low enough since I can't get anything less!

It is much cheaper to buy the higher dose pen and then just use the dial to go up to your dose. Technically you don’t have to dial up to .25mg which on the blue/white box is 18/19 clicks on the dial. If this is confusing you can google the dosage chart for specific dialing

Thanks for these videos. I started Ozempic 2 years ago and lost 30 pounds pretty quickly but have since started on Prednisone for something else so now it's just keeping me from gaining which I am fine with because in the past I would have just gained it all back. I have only gone up to 1 mg because I didn't want the added side effects but honestly I lost more weight on 0.5mg and actually felt better and after watching you now it kinda makes sense. I was fearful too because of all the bad press but honestly I've not had much trouble with the med except for fatigue and constipation which is easily managed and worth the trade off. My pain meds have been weaned to almost nothing so definitely there is something to this. I was on Q4 pain meds before starting and now I'm barely taking them. I'm much happier taking it, not sure about my insurance company being happier. LOL

In the Netherlands, these kinds of medications have to be prescribed by a doctor, and will only be covered by health insurance for people with a BMI over 40 or a BMI over 35 with comorbidities like heart disease/sleep apnea all of who have completed 1 year out of a 2-year approved GLI (it stands for the Dutch version of Combined Lifestyle Intervention) programme, which is also covered by insurers. This GLI helps to change the lifestyle with dieticians, physical therapists, group meetings (like AA) etc. Seems quite sensible if you look at the long term.

24:12 “It should say hyperglycaemia” I’m not sure about that. It definitely reduces the number and severity of hyperglycaemic episodes (no surprise), but in my experience it also seems to reduce hypoglycaemic episodes. My suspicion is that it just flattens the curve of blood sugar and also lowers the mean by a bit, if that makes sense. I guess we’ll have to wait for further studies to confirm (or deny) my hypothesis 😅

I am 72 and my BMI is 31. I had struggled to lose the extra weight for years with diet and excercise with no real effect. I have just recently been put on Wegovy. Luckily, I am now residing in Europe, so it is easier to get this drug over here. In February, I needed to go back home and could not get Wegovy anywhere in the States. I have been told not to trust the generic form offered on the Internet, so I decided to wait till I’m back in Europe. Immediately after arrival, I went and bought the 0.5mg (next step) Wegovy and started using it. Whereas, 0.25 mg did not cause any stomach problems or any side effects, the 0.5mg does. I had not lost any weight on 0.25 mg Wegovy. I am losing about 3-4 Lbs per week on the 0.5 mg dose. One of the side effects that is so hard on me now is complete lack of stamina. Is this normal? How can I improve my energy level?

@@backwardog1 I’m 6 weeks in and have lost 13 lbs it’s slow, just what I need. My colitis is gone, normal BM. My gut issues are 59% better, less gas bloating and nausea. I still have bouts of nausea but it doesn’t last long. My mindset and motivation for life has increased!

Is it safe to follow a ketovore or carnivore diet while taking a semaglutide? I lost 60 pounds on a ketovore diet(lots of bacon, eggs, butter, steaks)...combined with exercise...took me 2 years. Unfortunately, I have gained 30 pounds back by eating SOME(limited amount) of carbs(not sugar). I hit a plateau in my diet routine and started to slip. I have been prescribed sublingual semaglutide drops. I'm just wondering if I will be able to eat the low carb/moderate protein/high fat diet that I like to follow.

I’ve been overweight since I was a child. I’ve gone up and down weight wise over my entire life and I’m 66 years old now. I had gastric sleeve surgery in 2012 and lost 100 pounds but not to my ideal weight. Gradually gained 90 pounds back. I eat between 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day and mostly protein. I started wegovy 4/30/24 and on .25 dose and I’ve lost only 2.5 pounds. I’ve watched every podcast from various doctors and they talk about metabolic adaptation which I feel has always been the problem with my body. Eat less exercise more does not work for me. I wish it did. I’m praying this medication gives me a chance.

You mentioned revascularization of bones. I will have to look for this study. Very interesting. I’ve read how the peptide BP157 increases VEGF to promote recovery. Question is do the GLP-1 agonists do the same? If so have you seen any research on increase in retinal diseases due to the increase of VEGF? I’m concerned about using these in those with potential eye diseases such as DM retinopathy and macular degeneration, due to anti-VEGF injections are used to prevent progression of these eye diseases.

Hi Dr, I'm on Ozempic now from 1st June and injected 3x times. I lost 4.6kg so far, and according to me it's not that drastic. But last week I encountered a funny feeling in my ear, where I could hear myself talk, breathe...very irritating. Today it happened again but it feels like it's not going away. I Googled and came across a condition called Patulous Euctachian Tube, and I read it occurs when you experience rapid weight loss and its not curable....please give me some advice. I'm a bit scared now.😮

Australia doesn’t allow compunding of this product (happened in the last couple of months) since it “can’t be regulated”. So if you don’t want to start on a dose less than .25 you can’t try it for other issues. What else can you do?

I have osteoarthritis really bad. Have had 2 hip surgery.. same hip. Had major back surgery and that made it worse. I went from using a cane to full time walker with wheels. Getting to the point I got REALLY fat. I go to a pain clinic and they started me on a mixed compound that has Ozempic in it. I noticed that the pain in joints and back was better. Because of cost I had to stop. Within 3 weeks pain was back. So I had to cut into my grocery budget and other expenses to get back on it. I now have more good days than bad. Have dropped close to 30 pounds. Need to lose 60 more as I probably will have to have surgery again.😢
