Halifax really sneaks up on you from the freeway. It's not evident that the highway passes as close as it does to the city until it's nearly ended.

Always great to see another controlled access highway in Canada. I wouldn't have thought there would have been enough traffic in the late 50s to build it in that area. I guess I'm wrong. Thanks for the video!

I think Halifax went through a little highway craze phase back in the day. In the 70s, Barrington St. was planned to be upgraded to a full 4-lane highway to provide access to downtown as many north american cities were doing. 2 Y-Interchanges were built but the highway was never built. There are now plans to tear down those 2 interchanges and replace them with a boulevard.

Nova Scotia Highway 102 is also the Atlantic Province's busiest highway as it connects Southern Nova Scotia to the rest of the Atlantic Canada.

NS 102 is only 100KM not 102KM as per wiki. The KM marker in Truro at the exit is 100KM It's label the Bi-Hi since it was NS bi-Centennial when the Fall River to Halifax section opened.

I remember when I was a young and stupid military sailor that I once walked around the whole of the Bedford Basin. Can't do that these days.

Man that's quite the walk

It was. But then again, I went to Canada's only military private boarding school when I was a teenager. Doing 60+ kilometre route marches in three days was no problem for me then.

The whole thing was about 25 km. Average of 10-15 min/km, that would have taken me approximately 6 hrs

I think I've probably been down that highway about 500 times in my life. I know it well.
