Keller has quietly made drum shells for many of the worlds greatest drum brands - learn about how the company got its start in 1946! I talk with Justin Owen, Special Accounts Manager at Keller Products, about how this company has been at the center of the drum universe for over 70 years and managed to remain out of the limelight.

Rogers was using Keller shells long before 1966. They went Keller as early as 1961 ... it’s clearly evident in the research done. Very easy to identify a Jasper rering and a Keller rering.

It would be interesting to order shells and make a set great for studio recording.

More people need to hear this. It’d stop a lot of “ my kits better” talks etc.

I think Keller makes shells for Gretsch drums. Maybe it loses the coolness factor but the good news is that it sounds great if you close your eyes.

@@ramencurry6672 im chill with it. If all the companies that use keller have their own shell recipe exlusive to them i dont see the big deal. Its like how two wrench companies have the same manufacturer and material but ones design is crap so ones better

No doubt, wouldn't it tho! I've tried explaining certain elements (facts) of this to others & most don't wanna hear/accept it. Example: Is getting a maple pdp snare & dw maple snare gon be about the same? Yes & no. The wood itself in both is pretty much the same. It's the process that goes into making both are gon be different; even down to the finish. Was the holes & prep done by hand or machined? The 'attention to detail' on the dw is def gon be a longer process than on the pdp. The hardware & lugs are gon be alot diff too (cheaper on the pdp, expensive on the dw). Not necessarily will the wood itself be diff, but the process both go thru is completely different. Of course wood types will vary, but it's alot more than the wood that determines the price of a drum.

Yeah. Something about audio and instruments make people think some dumb shit.
